@averagejoe26
And the same goes for PS5, you need an SSD external that matches the internal speed.
"Which SSD drives are compatible with PS5? Sony have confirmed that they will allow you to upgrade your PlayStation 5's included 825GB capacity (See Also: PS5 SSD: How Much Storage Space Does It Have?) by purchasing compatible NVMe SSD drives. However, due to the nature of PS5 you'll need to use an SSD drive specifically whitelisted as compatibl...
I will just use my 2TB external as storage, and then transfer the games when and if needed.
On Xbox you can set games to transfer and then play another, will not be that difficult.
@Blacktar187
your casual gamer would not have the need for an external, as they usually only buy/play a few games at a time.
The "hardcore gamer" are your collectors, people that buy/install and play multiple games and play daily, and will most probably already have the need for external storage.
If you did not get external storage for Xbox One or PS4, then you will not need it for PS5/Series X, it is that simple.
You must be watching the wrong ones.
@potatoseal
You sir, sound very, very, salty.
You claim to have no interest in Microsoft, but here you are, commenting on an xbox article.
"Gamepass will only ever service the minority of their own fans, like it does right now."
Yeah ok, that is why more and more gamers are signing up daily.
Not long to wait now
Why would they be using Series S as lowest denominator?
Only the resolution is limited, it plays the same games.
Most hardcore owners of the PS4/Pro, xbox one/X, will already have external storage, then if you run out of room, just move some games around from Internal to External and vice versa.
An all digital console is aimed towards the non-hardcore buyer.
These gamers will be the ones that buy a few games at a time, as opposed to those that buy most.
I have 3TB storage on my One X and currently holds 289 games.
Not really, next-gen game file sizes will be smaller if not the same as games now.
It is only 313gb smaller than the PS5. Factor in that you can use your existing external HDD as storage, then no, no it is not too small.
When you want one, question answered.
So why set an Estimated Retail Price and not a set retail price?
ERP as opposed to RRP etc?
I would say they are ready to undercut if need be.
ERP for Series S/X so they are ready to undercut.
Microsoft have stated previously they will not be beaten in the price department again, so good business sense to set an ERP, see what Sony announce, and then change the pricing again.
(One can hope!!!)
looks good
I like the unboxing part and setting it up, goosebumps and all
@Cornelis
Here we are talking about Sony PS5, and you are obsessing over Halo.
So Halo even though it had a bad trailer is still being talked about, good to know.
Microsoft's price can still change, that is why it is ERP
They will announce before Microsoft pre-orders open on the 22nd September (12 days)
@SullysCigar
1 - it does not take that long to transfer a game now using HDD's, so SSD will be faster. (around 30mins-1hr currently)
2 - you can play another game whilst transferring the other game.
3 - you will be able to fit around 5-10 games on the Series S hard drive, so if you are going to play 10+ games per day, then yeah you will need some management.
