Exactly.. being online-only allows more dynamic content. Like how Titanfall could patch seamlessly without forcing an xbox update.
But like they said in the article and has been said in the past, it also means once the servers shut down the game is done. Makes sense for digital games, but if I own a disc I always expect to be able to put it in the drive and play.
Well level 20 isn't a big time investment, but honestly there's some terrible games out there.. gotta be something worse than Destiny. I'm enjoying it so far, and it's just got to last me til Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and then my XBL friends will be in there all the time, and therefore so will I.
There was seemingly something about the drop rates there that was the kicker. I tried doing "The Dark Within' on the moon where the hive "floods" (get it?) out the temple door, killing 30 and dying, repeat over and over. I got far more loot killing maybe 50 from the cave than I did killing 1500 on the moon.
Holy stellar article Batman. My friends are various levels from 18-26 and all of them wanted to shoot at the cave.. not 'lets do the weekly strike' or anything higher level, or crucible. Just slaughtering lvl 5 mobs. Plus I thought the wave of elites they added made it even more fun IMO.
There's a number of proximity-related spawn areas.. the cave was just extra convenient with the single exit. The drop rate also seemed much more generous than the moon 'The Dark Within' temple area. But then I haven't been there for a few levels.
The prominence of the loot cave should've been expected with their terrible loot = level structure paired with the equal drop rates on all npc's... terrible planning & development.
I noticed the other day when free-roaming Earth (trying to find the open-world Fallen Walkers for the bounty) that it was impressively large. So on one hand I can see where they're coming from in being surprised at the backlash of game 'size'. But on the other hand, most of that space is empty and is recycled into missions.
So it's not really the size of the map that is an issue in my opinion, but how it's used/wasted.
After FFX-2, I'd be perfectly content to never see a female lead in a FF game again.
Well because it's the last DLC, and even Respawn has said they need to move on to new projects.. so aside from any necessary patches it's a finished product. I was a bigger fan of Titanfall than most, and I haven't played it in months.
Odin was indeed pretty sweet.. I'd say Knights of the Round, but it took 2 minutes each time and wasn't as visually awesome as Bahamut Zero.
Same.. so their retaliation for farming gear in a prime spot is to start a world event on top of us. So now I got a cave full of loot and mail with more upgrades. Punish me again Bungie!
Agreed. I've played casually (with a few late nights) and i'm at level 22 now.. even this weekend with my xbox friends on, we did the heroic weekly a few times, but by the end felt pretty blah about playing more. The Crucible pvp isn't great, so my group which is mostly made up of CoD players isn't into playing that. So now we're just down to replaying missions to get marks to buy items, or we can just go sit at a cave and grab free loot.
Well c'mon.. the killing a hooker for money back thing is more of a classic reference to this game than a reality. I know of nobody who's played GTA and has so little money that they need it back. They do it because they can.. much like the strippers in GTA 5 and taking them home. Also, GTA 4 was easily the worst modern GTA, every car drove like a buick with a flat tire and the 'coming to America to make it big through a life of crime' story was crap.

I'm hoping my curse ends and this year and I can finally enjoy a new CoD more than the last one.
Well to dissect the 11 hour raid comment, it was a first run in a new raid released earlier that day. They had to figure out the puzzle, and develop tactics in an area nobody had cleared. Also, 11 hours is a long time, but by no means does anyone need to sit and do this in one session. 11 hours over 7 days is not a ton of time.. many people have played that much in a few days let alone an entire week. This was the same in WoW, someone had to figure out the tactics before everyone was able...
Deploy the dink.. I like it. Another fine set of bullet-points on the pros/cons. Personally, I've got an external HDD on my XB1 (usb 3.0, 7200rpm) and the load times really aren't bad at all. I did notice on my ps4 that they were longer, but I haven't done a SSD upgrade yet so that's my own fault. (Yes I own both consoles, and yes I own Destiny on both)
I find it entertaining that Bungie doesn't 'understand' why people complain about the game...
It's very cliche` to bash Destiny these days.. it's a profitable game so those that wanted it to fail can quietly fade into oblivion. They tried something semi-new, which was to make a shooter with MMO characteristics. Fact of the matter is my Xbox friends have stopped playing Ghosts (which makes me happy) so we can play something else until CoD:AW comes out, then that'll be what we play. I expect Destiny will fill that 1.5 months of time, and then it'll be relegated to my ...
In the music industry it's something of an honor to be a one hit wonder.. to do so in game development and walk away with the better part of a multi-hundred-millionaire (I'll admit to not knowing how much he made from selling Mojang) sounds pretty sweet to me. One and done.. color me jealous.
I'll be among the many to admit my relationship with CoD is love/hate. I started playing only campaign in CoD3, dabbled in multi in cod4, and after that I was essentially multi only. I've said in past posts that my campaign playtime in black ops 2 was 50 seconds, and that's longer that I played campaign in ghosts by.. 50 seconds. Ghosts is handily my least favorite of all of them, despite what i'm about to say in the next paragraph.
One thing I've notic...
Strange that they'd even consider adding the only games that don't feature Master Chief in the MC Collection. At that point it should've just been call the Halo Collection, or Halo Anthology, etc.
I'm going to have to disagree there... I leveled up my cryptarch reputation to 5 and got a Legendary bonus in the mail. It was purple. So I open it.. 2 blue engrams. Now those engrams can't downgrade, but the GD mailbox bonus I received sure did.
