Said that to my CoD:AW buddies.. "Playing this really just makes me want to play Titanfall". It sure handled better than AW, not to mention there's no grenade launchers/noob tubes to deal with.

Pretty sure PR guys have no role in the coding of the game.

Probably some spite mixed in their score. The patch to resolve matchmaking didn't do much to improve anything.

It seems like some of these issues could've been lessened by scaling back some of their plans. The ability to dynamically switch between old and new graphics is.. neat I guess.. but certainly could've scrapped that. I imagine there's a degree of difficulty in meshing multiple graphics engines into a single game and mixing them around in multipl...

Another year of sensationalism. 2014 had similar hype with Titanfall, Watch Dogs, Driveclub.. we saw how that turned out. I'll reserve judgment until each launches and we see the truth, right now it's just PR machines and talking-points.

There's always going to be those that buy a game on day 1 and all the DLC. Nothing is going to stop those people from giving away their money regardless of the product quality.

What the rest of us more sensible people need to do is wait. Wait a day, or even a week. By then any sort of review embargo will run out and you'll hear the truth.

I'll use Halo:MCC as an example here. Some people waited in line to get this game at midnight. So they ge...

Bingo... many articles imply that if Sony outsells Xb1, Microsoft has 'lost' (or vice versa). As if all the revenue from both companies gets thrown into a box and winner takes all. Both companies are winning.. and their pricing competition means consumers win. And more current-gen console owners means companies will be less likely to keep developing games for last-gen (AC:Rogue and Borderlands:Pre-Sequel to name some) and more competition in our multiplayer games/lobbies.

Ugh, a link to a webpage that simply shows their tweet that contains a link to the actual update. Great journalism.

Most major game publishers would rather get a broken product into more peoples' hands than delay a game to fix issues and miss the holiday retail window.

The only way (as consumers) to fix this is to essentially not buy their game at launch. From there you can either check reviews and determine if it's a product worth your money, or wait the week or two for it to go on some sort of sale. 1 day after AC: Unity came out it was $10 off for XB1. Or in the case of Hal...

It's probably going to be the same or perhaps slightly worse. There's usually an uptick in consoles getting online, along with others who get the game for Christmas/holidays. There's a reason even MS is taking the month of December off from releasing their monthly updates.

The mechanics and flow of Titanfall is stellar. I've picked up very few games that felt that natural right away. Now that CoD:AW has vertical elements to it, it feels like a different beast as well. It feels surprisingly like it would IRL, the boost is sudden yet short, battery life on abilities is short.

In my opinion the one thing that kills CoD is grenade launchers/noob tubes. Remove them from the game entirely.. make it a killstreak.. something other than giving p...

I saw (well OK i heard from a team mate) in CoD: Advanced Warfare that there is a paintball setting. This way instead of blood, everything shows up as paint. I know it's not pertaining to splatoon, but ironic they added this to CoD.

Keep waiting.. it'll be very cheap in no time. I've noticed a considerable decrease over the last few days. Granted that could just be matchmaking putting me in fairly empty lobbies/areas. But based on forum posts and personal experiences I see a lot of people bored/finished with it already.

Gameplay lag wasn't terrible yesterday on xb1. But if you stay in room chat and talk in the lobby, it'll slow-mo your voice to half speed.. so we've had to party up to resume normal chat.

Agreed, there's definitely some things that each bring to the table in this genre. I found the driving mechanics a lot of fun, but if realism is what you're looking for .. keep looking. But the melee fighting in Sleeping Dogs is the best so far in an open-world game, sans Batman: Arkham City. (but then playing as Batman always adds a few bonus points) I had hoped games like GTA and Watch Dogs would have taken a few pointers, but they seem to prefer the 'haymaker or nothing'...

Was extra-nice on the West Coast since we could pick it up at 9pm, hooray for simultaneous release times. They do have a good routine going with the 'finalized receipt and group numbers' system.

I remember back to Halo 2's midnight release, the line at my local mall was so long that it took over an hour to clear, so I didn't get much actual playtime. Now many, many years later I find it's just easier to go the next day.. not worth missing work over.

I can't believe they're still making these.. button mashing mediocrity. But then it must be making money, so good on them. I had a couple Dynasty Warrior games on ps2, but it became pretty obvious nothing was going to change in this franchise.

Good read and good points. I'll be curious to see how long before they either crank out a sequel or bump the number of DLC areas. The next few months are among the busiest for gamers, and it's very easy to leave a game like Destiny behind when Nov/Dec releases come out.

While I often gripe about CoD it's often a game I play for a better part of a year.. unless it's another heaping pile of trash like Ghosts.

4172d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Pretty sure a week from now I'll have no problem putting Destiny away. I may still do the weekly strikes but I see CoD and Halo:MC Collection taking up my time quite sufficiently.

4172d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

I disagree, the problem with Ghosts is that everybody tubes. Seems especially true lately which is why I will never put that game back into my xbox. I'll play Destiny until CoD:AW drops in a week.

Here's my fix: bring back death streaks and make a pack of noob tubes be at 5 deaths. If someone dies 5x in a row, they deserve some free kills.
