I also expect Gamescom to be where they announce pre-order info.. even as an Xbox fan I have little interest in it. Unless their bundle with a 4K tv is an absolute steal, it'll be a pass for me.
I diagree almost entirely due to the very last sentence. We haven't really seen ANY sign that Nintendo has done a good job of changing their attitudes after the WiiU. Until it comes off as more than just lip service, they're basically saying they're changing their ways while continuing to do the same things. I'm sure they'd LOVE better 3rd party support on their new platform after their last one was considered a failure. But as long as they deliver under-powered consol...
To answer your comment on the Microsoft/Xbox side, their games with gold unlock forever. The games/purchases are linked to your account, and even if you let XBL lapse you can play those games.
It WAS $20 a few weeks ago.. and despite what you've read, it's worth that. Had a pretty good time with it.
Pardon the tinfoil hat, but there's something else happening here besides a simple supply-chain problem which makes me think the persistent supply issue is intentional. They could've continued producing the NES classic but didn't. They face constant Switch supply issues in Japan, and even in the US you're often forced into a bundle if you want to get one. If it happens once it's an oversight or accident but when it happens to every single product, that's bad busines...
Ah yes it must be close to the release of Destiny 2.. time to shut down any/all remaining interesting activities in the original game. Now they just need to lock away strike and crucible playlists unless you've pre-ordered Destiny 2 to go full-on Bungie.
Not really a solid indicator of interest or success.. I often skip betas knowing that typically nothing carries over to the full release. Most likely played the first beta, got the feel for the gameplay/aesthetics and made up their mind if they want to buy or not.
Yep I'm sure they'll just walk away from their multi-billion dollar franchise because it.. sold too well? Refusing to even bother reading the blog/link as it's almost certainly clickbait.
Definitely seems to be a strong bet on 4K despite the small market size. And software moves hardware.. so unless they have a mega-surprise up their sleeve and announce a game, it'll release to tepid demand. I consider myself more faithful to the Xbox brand than most and I still don't plan on getting one since I don't have a 4K tv. Unless the X1X/4K TV bundle is ridiculously cheap.
The original Wii is also one of the top selling gaming consoles of all time with over 100mil sold.. so not the best comparison to make. I expect it'll fall somewhere between the WiiU and Xbox One in sales. Switch will get a sales bump once Mario Odyssey is out, but then it'll be interesting to see what happens with it.
It'll sell well enough, but it's rather over-priced/under-powered in it's current form to have long-term success. Nintendo's games don't require much storage or processing power so it'll be similar to WiiU in that it'll run first-party games fine, and won't have much 3rd party support since most current-gen games would take up all of the internal storage, and even the biggest SDHC cards are half the size of the XB1/PS4 base hard drive size.
Or Trials: Evolution.. the best game in the series. Every other Trials game is on XB1 in some form. I gave up hope on Project Gotham Racing 3 coming to BC so I just got it for my 360 again.. so I'll end up keeping the old system anyways.
Bungie had to release Destiny 2 this year or face losing a majority share of their company to Activision, so don't be too surprised if it feels more like an add-on than a rebuilt game. I expect it to be more story focused like the original was after Taken King, but I'm definitely not buying this one.. I'll gamefly it and see for myself and see what the reviewing masses think. Not a fan of the MP changes to 4 per team, but then I didn't enjoying playing crucible very much.
Blizzard likely never had any intention of releasing a vanilla server. They make patches and balance changes for a reason, and a vanilla server is essentially frozen in time when things may not be balanced to their liking. They're not going to devote time/resources/money to running an older version of their product.. unless it was an additional cost on the monthly subscription, like add $5 a month for access to a legacy server.
Not sure if it's widely known, but Bungie was contractually obligated to release Destiny 2 this year or concede a majority of it's ownership to Activision. It also provided an opportunity to erase last-gen consoles from needing to be compatible with the title which allowed them to develop based on the newer/current gen hardware. So Destiny 2 is less about driving their IP forward with technological advances and new features/narrative, and more about keeping ownership of the IP itsel...
So.. what did you all learn? Maybe to hold onto your money until a product is proven to be worth it? Or just the usual... nothing.
The current state of Vita doesn't necessarily reflect on future prospects of a follow-up.. Sony's support for Vita has always been lackluster. Dedicated handheld gaming devices are a tough sell due to the popularity of mobile phones and their increasing processor power. And while Nintendo has done pretty well with 2DS/3DS and now the Switch, it's not the booming market it was expected to be.. for that reason I see Sony letting the handheld market go.
The gunplay was almost too easy in RDR, though it uses the same aim-assist as GTA.. but for a game placed in the wild west I'd think it'd be more concerned about how it handles.
Nah, Red Dead just doesn't have the audience and legacy that GTA does. It'll sell well enough, and Rockstar isn't going to suffer one way or another. I'd guess 15-20 million units sold.. their pedigree of developers make good games, but GTA has been around for a heck of a lot longer and has been improving on itself.
Trials: Evolution please! (sorry I keep posting this on every BC post I see, I really miss the game)
