Wow, so right you are! I cringe whenever I hear Japanese developers say they need to Westernize their games - they just need to make their Eastern games back up to the same quality they used to have! I mean, if they westernize all their games we'll have no variety in the market. I love Japanese games, but lately they seem to be shallow, stereotypical and have no heart compared the games of yesteryear. There are of course exceptions.

Bubbles to you bishop-br, for being unbaised and honest.
Anyone who has not played the campaign of Halo Reach should not comment on its graphics. I thought the graphics were nothing special from screenshots but then when I played the campaign my mouth was on the floor most of the time. They really are incredible graphics. They're not as good as Uncharted 2 (what is?) but they're pretty close to Killzone 2's. And before you say "yeah, that's an old game, yada, yada," stop and think a bit. Killzone 2 is probably the sec...
I wonder if Halo Reach broke 2 mill in the end? I'll bet it did. They were only 8,000 away and I, for one, preordered mine at like 3pm on Sept. 13th, so I wouldn't be included in that list probably.
I think this one is obvious personally - jailbreaking Apple's Draconian iPhone is good for the industry as a whole (bad for Apple) - it allows more open development, improvement of the iPhone's features in ways we've begged Apple for, and more people being able to use the iPhone on different networks. It's led to increase spending in the industry as tons of apps in Cydia get sold daily. Jailbreaking the PS3 is bad for the industry as a whole - the drive is mostly about pirat...
Agree! Can we please stop approving these articles?
I think it's smart they only spend on quality content. Spending money on advertising big games is an absolute waste of money. I think the millions MS spends on advertising is going to make them hardly anything at all because the videogame industry doesn't work like that - people don't learn about games or choose to look into them off of advertising like other industries - it's all previews, reviews, word of mouth, etc. Maybe if you have a new IP or a small unheard of game, ...
What?
@ZombieNinjaPanda Yes, I see your point. I was exaggerating when I said that's all there was. There are great games out there without killing. I guess the sentiment of the article that I agreed with was there aren't enough - although there are options, they are sparse, unless you want to get into casual games *shudder*. I think the industry could really use more innovation and creativity.
Yeah, did anyone else kind of feel like it was a little disappointing? I was excited for this game, but to me, the aiming felt wonky and I didn't like the default button layout, which there's almost nothing in options to change it. I also was disappointed with the level and enemy design - seemed like you just went forward, shoot the same enemies over and over again with no variation or thought, then fight the boss, which just barraged you with so many missiles it seemed to be a bit t...
Bubbles to you sir. I'm scared when games are no longer a game but perfectly reflect reality. There needs to come a point when gamers no longer feel comfortable killing people when it looks perfectly real and you can no longer tell the difference between a game and reality.
@ZombieNinjaPanda That's not at all what the writer is saying. He is basically saying he goes to he store and ALL THEY ARE SELLING is Cherry flavored ice cream. He wants to see lots of different flavors and he only sees one. What's wrong with asking for more diversity and ingenuity in games?
Despite all the killing, Uncharted 2 is in my top 10 all time list, but I agree with the author's sentiment. Portal is amazing and doesn't use violence.
Flame bait article anyone? So sick of these. I will say though that the only reason this statement can even be said is because GT5 ISN'T allowed to count (being a 2010 release), because you still know that Killzone 3 isn't live actors when you look at it - can't say the same for GT5.
I wouldn't say the "by far" statement is accurate either. Rage my not look as pretty in streaming videos and still shots, but when you see it in full res and full f...
This stuff is nice and all, but I just wish they'd do stuff like stop people from Joining Session In Progress unless it locks them on their team (thus eliminating boosting), put party chat back into the game (biggest stupid fail), fix the horrible lag problems, make it so you can't knife someone if you've been shot in the last second, etc. All this stuff they're talking about is just icing on the cake, and if the cake still tastes like cockroaches, I'm not interested.
I'm so sick of hearing reviewers mark down games because they're linear. Linear is a design option, not a negative (in FF13's case though, it hindered the fun and just didn't work in my opinion). The games I've liked most over the years are linear in nature - linear is great because it allows a story to be told and characters to be developed.
The real problem is a linear game lives and dies by the quality of its characters and story, and everyone's...
There was a problem with the hitboxes so that the chest hitbox was too high and overlapped the neck and bottom half of the head, so if you wanted to score a headshot you had to shoot the upper half of the head (there was a much more technical explanation of why they did this by accident, but that was the basis). It made it very frustrating when you legitimately would repeatedly headshot someone with no shields without getting a kill (because you were shooting the lower half of the head). An...
It's sad how people get so interested in games over just graphics. In the end, all that really matters is the gameplay. Will it be FUN? Most of the graphically impressive games on the iPhone I've tried have horrible controls - it's really hard to create a hardcore game with good controls with only a small touch screen and no buttons.
Still, have to admit, those are some amazing looking graphics for iPhone! (Doh!)
Am I the only one that thought the last game, Fortress, looked the most impressive - the environments were astounding and the gameplay looked epic. The combat looked like Demon's Souls and the environments like Oblivion! I really think that would have been a huge blockbuster.
I remember Grin saying that the reason they folded was because these huge Publishers made deals with them thinking they could change details in the contract they didn't like later by delayed e...
If it doesn't get fixed, it will effect software sales quite a bit as everyone who has this will never buy a game again. As soon as it's determined that people can do this without getting caught, it will spread like wildfire.
But the worst part that this misinformed writer of the article doesn't realize is Sony doesn't make any money off their consoles - they LOSE money! That's right, they sell consoles at a loss expecting to make their money back from r...
Like Socomnick said, that's the retailers trying to compete with such a highly demanded game, and has nothing to do with the publisher.
I could agree with this article if it talked about nearly any other big budget game out there, but anyone that follows Bungie closely knows that Bungie is everything that is GOOD in the gaming industry right now. I don't know of another gaming company that listens to their customers more than Bungie. They had an open beta with direc...
