1) Metacritic is a joke.
2) Review scores are opinions.
3) Metacritic is a joke.
Opinion is a wonderful thing, no? You remember opinions, right?
I hate every rating system personally, since they are still just opinion. A number/letter doesn't tell me jack about a game, the review does.
The best review system is Kotaku's, which lists likes and dislikes at the end, and lists how far to completion the reviewer was, etc. THAT is how you review a game, even if I don't always agree with their statements.
These people hung up on numebers are pathetic, and unable to form their own opinions. I openly laugh at them...
Ever since people started taking review scores as fact in this fanboy pissing match between the PS3 and the 360. It's gotten to levels of pathetic that I cannot even begin to fathom. This site needs some standards, quickly. It's a great concept ruined by idiots.
R2 the only game this holiday season? Definitely not. That's just stupid talk.
Comparing demos now?
Fanboys. Priceless.
LOL.
WOW.
1) This is not news.
2) This is out of date.
3) Xbox fanboys must be SO fvcking butthurt as to post this now. I don't ever, ever, EVER want to hear any complaints from any xbox fanboy that this site is PS3 biased with drivel like this being approved.
4) Be a gamer, grow the fvck up.
Bladestar makes a good point. I can't remember if games were scored higher due to rumble and Achievements... I'm sure they were at some point.
Just goes to show you how utterly useless review scores are frankly, when anyone can decide what system features, options, settings, etc they can base their score off of, instead of via a set of standards. It would definitely show a bit of bias if 360 games were reviewed with optional installs as the standard, yet the PS3/360 video compari...
Yeah I thought so too. I mean, is it just me, or are games getting easier in this and age?
I have to say, impressive. The thing looks gorgeous.
But why does it look so goddamn EASY!?
I miss the bosses of old days, ones that had patterns and required you to learn through basically gettin ur ass kicked a few times.
OMFG. Hey look, more naysaying and doom and gloom FUD!
This site keeps getting worse and worse. I should just start kicking myself in the nuts instead of visiting. The stupidity is amazing.
LOL at Xbox fanboys jumping all over this.
I'm going to go write up a blog about why Halo 3 sucked, I'll be back, because I'm sure that's news too! You know, one person's opinion?
/sarcasm.
MGS4 had its issues, but I felt was a great ending to the series. I feel compelled to bring up the Halo 3 "reviewer incentive" $800 swag bags, but I digress...
Halo 3 did a ton of great things, but its campaign was basically crap and a poor, poor ending to a great universe. Online was damn strong, and I will still play it occasionally to this day. I love the video recording feature though, Bungie should be commended for that. I think more games should utilize it thanks ...
The real question is...
Why do we still bother with review SCORES? Since they are opinions, and there is no universal grading scale, why should I care what random number someone tosses onto a game?
Games have become more dynamic, what with updates, patches, DLC, etc. Shouldn't reviews and review systems change with the times as well?
Broken Playstation games?
Wow, if the idiots who wrote this would take a minute and examine the industry instead of just looking to bash the PS3, which seems to be a popular trend in the media, they would notice something...
The ship now, patch later mentality is hitting ALL PLATFORMS! And its something we gamers shouldn't have to deal with. Oh but I'm sure they'll gloss over the fact that Gears of War 2 is glitch city. Howabout that PS3 exclusive game, Fable 2? That...
Million? No. But Gears is good at using motion blur and other post effects to mask the issues with the engine. Nice textures, but lacks ANY kind of color, and frankly feels somewhat boring. UT3 had some better use of color, but why is everythign so plastic?!?! The character models are excellent though, even if I don't like the design choices.
Rememeber, one is pushing 60 players in huge arenas. One is pushing smaller teams on smaller arenas. Different focus, different priority....
Sony opens the wallet.
M$ tosses the Halo 3 swag bags.
Round and round we go...
It's a design choice. They want the game to play a certain way. rying to make it sound like a flaw is as stupid as the instances of people claiming Gears of War 2 should have 40 people in its competitive games.
Balancing weapons and level design in an MP game is rough enough. Adding in level balancing for a cover system too would take even more dev time. I can respect their choice, especially considering the praise I've heard from the Beta.
I just wish they woul...
Well, you also have to consider you get fanboys of the other persuasion heading into R2 threads and saying "it has nothing on Gears 2, yadda yadda." It goes round and round. Doesn't justify it though, I just don't get why people can't accept that both are great games in totally different genres?
As for "best game of 08" I'll have to disagree personally. It's really cool and looks great, but MGS4 (gasp) was a greater experience to me. Your mileage, of course,...
Pity that Gears 2 is way inferior to Ocarina of Time.
Since you all love scores so much and swear by them...
