It is derided because it honors some blogs yet not others. It includes some sites multiplatform reviews and not others. It will put one sites 360 score and not the PS3 score. It will arbitrarily inflate and deflate the score of a game if one is not given based on the "tone" of the review.
Frankly, its BS. If it was just a review aggregate, it would be fine. It's not. It plays politics just like every other gaming site.

IMHO, they should have pumped all this $$$ into unifying PSN better. Mandatory voice chat, universal features, etc. Home is great and all, but they tipped their hand WAY too early, and now many people just don't care. Sad part is, I don't see a finished product hitting this fall, or in 2008 frankly. Waste of resources because of a lack of focus. They want it to be this all encompassing social tool, but their development method just ISN'T working.

As for blogs... we need some standards here. Either we approve all blogs, or no blogs. We cannot pick and choose. This place is fanboyed up as it is with Ps3 and 360 fannies... how about we focus on some NEWS for once?
Lock up your guns. Teach your kids the difference between reality and game. Stop shifting blame to the entertainment medium. Until someone beats someone to death with a PS2 game case, I don't believe any of this BS. I've been playing games since I was 6, and I've never laid a hand on anyone except in self defense.

But Meus is right though. Review scores are not FACT, they are OPINION. They are ARBITRARY numbers made up on the spot to placate the idiotic crowd of people who take them as gospel. I pity people who put more stock into review scores than just the review itself. A number tells me NOTHING, other than what that person's OPINION is. It doesn't quantify accurately anything about the title. Can you tell me the exact difference between an 8.9 and a 9.0 game? I thought not.

Fable 2, Gears 2, Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2 all scored lower at one site then their predecessor, yet in the exact same review was said to be better in every way when compared to their originals.
