That's the issue with trying to unify an open platform. MGO runs entirely via Konami's servers, not Sony's. Konami wanted to tie all of their online games together with one unique Konami ID, so they could tie it into their store. Frankly, it's idiotic, and even Kojima didn't want it, but was overruled. Did you know that they actually are attempting to implement the system on all their multiplatform titles as well?
It splinters the unity of the service, and I bet MGO would have D...
How those 10 minute Gears 2 matchmaking waits working out for you?
Expected Response: LULZ i neva had dat happnz 2 me, ur a fanboi cuz ur wrong n its just sony fanboy liez!!!!
It disappoints me most not because of sales, but because its an insult to the developers when you have these "reviewers" sitting on their asses all day and getting paid/incentives to bash the hard work of teams who spend 100 hours a week on making this hobby possible.
It just proves how fvcking stupid review scores are. Don't tell me Motorstorm 2 is 100% better in every way from Motorstorm 1, then score it lower.
Indeed Austere. All I want is some consistency. If you are going to mark one game down for a bad story, then do the same with... wait for it, all games with bad story!
Don't piss and moan about Resistance 2's story being mediocre, then also say Gears 2's story is mediocre, then say it doesn't matter, and give it a perfect score for example.
*sigh*
Is this really news? I don't care if your service is pay to play or free, networks have issues. It happens.
Honestly, game journalism is such a joke for so many reason, I don't know how anyone can feel ANY site is "credible."
The Kotaku videos didn't really instill a sense of awesomeness in me. So many technical issues. I'm curious to see how it does.
I can't really think of a single review site that DOES have "credibility" actually.
Edit - Except Kotaku. I like their review style. I don't always agree with their reviews. Their snarky demeanor in their "articles" is a bit grating though. ;-)
N4G seems to pull out all kinds of random sites when a big title releases, sites I've never heard of before. Good thing smart gamers don't listen to review scores.
Fable 2 has some very real issues in both design and technical implementation, issues that many "respected" reviewers glossed over. But the game is still damn fun, and thats what matters.
Not to mention, once again, reviews are opinions. So who cares?
Actually Spydig, I have to agree with your prior post. People spend more time cheerleading for companies instead of enjoying games lately it seems.
Once again, this is one man's opinion. Why should anyone care? Don't let it influence your own enjoyment of the title if you wanted to check it out.
Oh options are great, definitely. More gamers should be able to enjoy more games. But there is a difference between making a game accessible and making it full of pandering and hand holding. I mean... look at say Metroid Prime. It gives you the tools to battle the boss, but doesn't spell it out for you. Conversely, today you have games with some AI lameass helper character belting you repeatedly with "Go this way!" "Hurry up!" "Shoot the core when it turns!" It's...
Wow, second article on this subject today. And I still agree. Games are being made to PANDER to the casual crowd, and get as many gamers on board as possible. While that is a good business move, developers need to do it a manner that increases usability without dumbing it down. That's why Mega Man 9 is probably one of my favorite games of the year, easily. That sense of accomplishment is fast dying as games become easier and "made for everyone."
I can't say I really cared for the story personally. The gameplay is pretty tight and well refined when compared to the original, and co-op is something that every game should make a priority of having as its so well done here. But the story? I don't see it as anything special. Much of it just felt forced to me, and the appearance of characters like the Locust Queen never being explained set it up as an obvious middle title in a trilogy, which I can't really fault it for I suppose.

Fanboys are "good" for a console manufacturer.
They are a pathetic insult to gamers and game developers everywhere however.
So perhaps they can explain the various columns I saw that were destroyed today?
Maybe the bags of garbage that pop when you shoot them?
No? What about the cardboard boxes?
The oil drums?
Can someone point out to me ANY of the interactive objects in Halo 3's MP as far as the environments go? Please?
The funny part is, most review outlets such as magazines and websites harp their OPINION as a "definitive fact." Considering that game reviews are entirely subjective, and review scores are ENTIRELY arbitrary, well I can see why people would be upset. I mean, "gamers" these days look at some stupid number instead of reading the review. That's the first mistake. The second is then using these numbers to JUDGE things they have never played.
I don't care how &quo...
I need to go make a no name site and score big games, then disappear never to be heard from again.
A game can be innovative and still flawed. For instance, the heavy trial and error nature of the game, and the fact that usually there is only one available route.
This is why we need better reviewing systems instead of the arcane "scoring" method.
