Multiplatform is a publisher's best bet. Hence why more companies are doing it. Resistance 2, Gears 2, Fable 2, Socom all could have effectively almost doubled their numbers if they were multiplatform.
I respect your opinion but kindly disagree. Gears 2's storyline was mediocre and passable at best. I guess part 1 had such a lack of it, that the only way to really go was up. I didn't give a damn about ANY of the cliche action movie characters, and 90% of their dialogue (Marcus: What the hell are you talkin about?) was so poorly delivered via grunts it made me laugh.
That's the thing though, I absolutely love it for things like FoxDie, the Les Enfants Terribles Project, S3, GO...
I wasn't being sarcastic or funny, if you thought MGS or Uncharted had good storylines or serious characters, I laugh at you.
Perhaps you could tell me why the MGS storyline wasn't a good one? I'd like to hear your opinion on this. MGS at its surface is convoluted, sure, but if you take the time to really look at it, there is so much there both in terms of plot, as well as in terms of commentary, subtext and themes.
I'd easily put MGS as probably the best multiple t...
Why does it have to be a conspiracy? It's a simple fact that reviewers are biased, just like any other human.
Innovative games should not get a free pass, especially if they ignore the fundamentals of solid game design.
What needs to change is our arcane reviewing methods. This score based crap doesn't apply to today's game environment I feel.
GOTY contenders released earlier in the year typically get lost once the hype of the holiday rush hits at the end of the year sadly. The newer games and experience remain fresher in the minds of reviewers. I already fear MGS4 will succumb to such a thing sadly.
Of course, all DD needs to do to "kill bluray" is come up with viable storage mediums at cheap prices, kill consumer demand for wanting a physical format that cannot be erased on a whim, come up with a reliable business model for pricing/sharing/renting/owning , come up with acceptable file sizes for mass consumption/storage, prevent ISPs from putting bandwidth caps on downloads, increase highspeed availablity throughout the country, increase download speeds for all, lower ISP price...
Pity that most of the talent at Rare from that era is gone now, isn't it? Owning a company isn't the same as keeping the talent. Seems people forget about that as they praise names and not the hard workers behind them.
Goldeneye 007 > anything this generation
"Half life feels so old and out dated now."
the most $tupid thing I have ever heard
lets take a look at Half life 1 & 2 scores
Regardless of L4D's quality, the actual Source engine, technically speaking, DOES feel dated and is showing its age. It happens with any and all tech. Doesn't mean good games can't be made with it.
If you want to use scores to judge how "undated" something is, by all means, let's look a...
- Better story
- Challenging bosses
- An actual last boss
- Less linear vehicle segments
Because Yaboi, this market's media is based entirely on hype these days instead of substance. You spend months and months hyping the next big thing, give it a 1 page review, then instantly its on to the next thing... making it seem bigger, badder, and more important regardless of whether or not it will be. No one takes time to actually discuss things anymore it seems in the context of the game at hand, its all about the sequel now! Its a blurb and then its on to the next hype train.

I really have to agree with you here. This "answer" mentality is just so stupid. I guess we are not allowed to like more than one game per genre. You know, its a crime to enjoy Ninja Gaiden, which is Xbox's answer to God of War, which is Sony's answer to Devil May Cry... blah blah blah fanboy pissing match.
You're even funnier. Halo and Gears could never compare to the sheer awesomeness and fun of Goldeneye 007 or Perfect Dark.
I'm glad you put so much stock in ratings (which are opinions) and sales (work for MS do ya?). I also like how YOU try to dictate what is "fun" for everyone else. It's that stuck up, foolish mentality that makes me pity fanboys.
Yes, digital downloads WILL take over... of course, not until...
1) More people have access to the internet reliably.
2) ISPs remove their proposed bandwidth caps.
3) Download speeds increase.
4) We have suitably cheap and viable storage solutions.
5) DRM doesn't tie down one's ability to say, bring their movie to a friends house.
6) Consumers no longer want physical media.
Once all that h...
Thanks for the info Kain, I didn't know they were considering it that.
I just don't like this mentality of a game having to be a killer of something. It's a fanboy menality. For instance, KZ2 will exist whether or not HL3 does. Halo will still be Halo regardless of if CoD4 sells more or is more played. Games CAN co-exist, and I hate how everything has to come down to such media fed BS. I can enjoy KZ1 and Black and CoD4 and Halo all for their own merits, and could never say on...
Why does everything have to be an "answer" to something or a "killer" of something? I just don't get that mentality. Not to mention, MS doesn't own HL3, nor is it even in development yet from what I understand.
I'd keep the 80 gig you have. For under $100 you can upgrade your HDD. my 60gb PS3 is now a 320gb PS3, and I only spent $80.
I would like to know why... you care about Metacritic at all?
Actually he has been pretty sensible in the few threads I've seen him in, so there's no reason for me to direct any animosity towards him.
How.... is this news?
