I just don't like it when a game insists on "Headshots or GTFO." The issue with MGO is that you almost HAVE to always aim for the head, or you're screwed. That isn't always a viable option though, especially with the horribly inaccurate guns AND the muzzle drift in that game. You need a balance. You need a headbox small enough that it makes you earn the headshot instead of it being a freebie. At the same time, you need body damage to be comparable. If its like CoD4, with 2 - 5 shots...
LOL. Persona 4 says otherwise. And out of my 80 PS2 titles, I STILL have about 30 to complete. Gotta love $5 titles like the Red Factions and Mark of Kri, some real hidden gems. PS2 is long from dead.
Regardless of the quality, because Bungie IS a talented team, I'm curious to see how reviewers take to this. A shorter stopover title on the way to a sequel. Sounds a lot like Quest for Booty, a title that was panned despite having all the strong mechanics of the main Ratchet series. Then again, reviwers have never been known for consistency.
Above all else, I just hope this is a good title, one that doesn't rip off consumers.
1 headshot takes down a guy? Crap. Is it as bad as MGS Online, where you can lace bullets into a person's back, and they have time to turn around and pop you ONCE in the head? Please say its not that bad, because that's what instantly turned me off to MGO.
I'm more concerned about how reviewers are going to nitpick this game to all hell and back. You'll also see a ton of no name sites popping up to slam it, just to get site hits or because its a PS3 exclusive. The media hatorade continues.

I think game reviewing, at its very core, is beyond stupid. Not only in how its done, but in how people react to it. People use the scores, as you said, in pissing matches that mean nothing. They treat these scores as facts, not opinions. It's sad. What's more, sites now take their reviews as "gospel truth." Actually Mitch... I 100% agree with everything you said. It's a pity that gamers let other's opinions influence them so heavily.
Those who do not think GearsofWar2 is the second coming could face slapping, pinching or pulling hair from the 360 loyalists. We recommend looking past the horrid story, the busted matchmaking with its elegant lag, and its classy use of grunting as "dialogue" and just say its the best game on the 360 EVER. It's no secret I hate review scores. But if Metacritic wants to be a true source, they need to do the following.
1) If they post one site's review of a game, they need to post ALL reviews from it. IE - If X-Play posts a review for Fable 2, then Metacritic cannot leave out X-Play's LBP review, for whatever reason.
2) If a site gives one multiplatform game a singular review, IE - Pure for all systems as a 90, that score must be placed for ALL averages of said game....

You also equate the money you pay as being the reason that XBL has more features. And many people are having 15 minute waits on matchmaking on Gears 2. I'm glad you aren't one of them, but everyone I speak to at the office bar 2 people are having horrid times online with Gears 2.
No online provider is foolproof, that goes for PSN and XBL. To single out one system is rather silly and fanboyish.
Um, why does it always have to be about hate? Why can't you step back and look at things from an industry wide perspective instead of bullsh1t fanboy wars? Have you ever stopped to wonder why there are advertisements on the blades, even though you are already PAYING for the service?
