ps4 games weren't going to be 1gb with 3gb for OS before it was boosted from 4gb to 8gb of ram, if Sony responded to "you need 8gb or you might as well not bother" why would they then say "nope, hands off it!"?
"Crucially we feel like we’re as important to them as a big studio making a triple A release, and that’s something that’s never really happened before on a console."
The Internets happened.
I wouldn't be any less inclined to believe this junk if the "news" had come from Polygon.
This is a rumour from a highly iffy source, don't get too upset just yet.
6 months ago the ps4 was only going to have 4GB of memory total - there's no way suddenly the OS requires 3.5GB to be set aside.
From someone who knows:
Article is slightly incorrect... Killzone psp was essentially killzone 2 and so the ps3 one was killzone 3, but then people were like "there's no number after Killzone liberation, so we better use 2". There was no secret title, killzone ps3 as it was called was just slow and never happening, it wasn't until the psp team moved over to ps3 that the game really started.
VGChartz lol
It's not how much you have to spend, but how wisely you put it to use. Timed exclusives is not and will never be a way to compete with genuinely thrilling and innovative first party creations.
can't type... laughing... too... hard... must tap temple to hide screen...
The actual unit sales are what should be impressive or not, not a percentage based on the previous period. You can paint all kinds of pictures with percentages like that, straight numbers tell the truth.
180 degrees in many cases.
From the comments indies made recently it's the relationship with the platform holder and how far they go out of their way to support your work that matter most. Obviously that's a bit more difficult to deliver on than making a self-publishing announcement.
You have to be very careful with this kind of thing. Over saturate and go overkill on achievements and you lose the perceived value in such a system.
@husomc It's an interesting one. Their DRM 180 leaves little time to implement anti-piracy measures, the x86 architecture and multiple OS layers must look pretty appealing to those kinds of people who like to poke holes.
I'm not convinced about any gaming benefits of Kinect for the One, however, when I consider it can watch you as you watch TV, can assess your consumption and when and how you do it (both in terms of TV/movies watched and physical products you ingest) I begin to see why ms think it's a great idea to have it there... their targeted advertising revenue from a console more popular than the 360 could be phenomenal, especially if they can use Kinect data to prove to advertisers than consume...
little brother!
"But what of Microsoft's recent self-publishing policy change? Will this affect the interest in the Xbox One for the better?
"I don’t think this moves the needle at all," said Barton, "only you, me and people who post on NeoGAF care about this kind of thing. Ten million CoD players couldn’t give two s***s."
For an industry analyst, this guy has a unique kind of approach to getting his point across, quite refreshing but really not...
It's a fine line to walk - you shouldn't stifle creative and original thinking but you also need to know the difference between when that works out and when it doesn't.
So how do you propose they decide that?
Will this be possible on xbox one with the power of the cloud?
