This is why there's credits at the end of all games. Because there's more to MGS than Kojima, and the little slaves who helped him out don't get enough credit. I like Gears of War's ending, since it gives the other staff members a face and a quick quote.
Kojima was just one man, a part of the equation. It's his staff that conjured the magic and stayed up those countless hours carving away at the Masterpiece known as MGS4. But truth be told, it made me all the more nostalgic of th...
You've proven nothing. Arguments over superior hardware/graphics capabilities or even features DON'T get you anywhere. The truth always lies in the sales. Consistency, consumer interest, competitive edge. The edge may have always been that 360 SKUs come at significantly lower MSRP. And there has been a consistent flow of quality software ever since 360 launched, and I see a bright future in 2009. Also, being able to get former PlayStation exclusives to go multiplatform fuels consumer interest...
You're going to run into them, trolling and all like how you're doing now:P
You assume that it's worth less than a wii? Then, why doesn't wii have HDMI? Or next gen graphics? Or an HDD, optional or not?
I think (minus the HDD) at $199 you can't go wrong with the Arcade. I believe it comes with a 256MB Memory Unit, so you'll have space for you saves and profile, maybe a few themes and gamer pics as well. And just 1 or 2 Arcade games.
But still, even with just that to start with I'd be a happy little boy come this Xmas. I'm sure most of here a...
My dad is Presbyterian, my mom is Pentecostal. Dad's parents were Protestant, and their parents were Catholic. Dad's sister and her daughter are Buddhists, and they always fall into arguments over "saving your soul from damnation by finally accepting Christ". My mom's into Wica/Voodoo and it freaks dad out, thought they just celebrated 26th year of marriage.
I'm not yet decided, though I have a Jewish middle name (Neftali). When FF7 came out, with a villain named after ...
I think there may be some truth to it, but only for those of us who still have older model 360s. I bench marked one of them when I pulled it out and popped into my notebook's sata port. Mine was a Seagate, and it showed me that it had 2mb cache.
Burst Read: 40mb/s
Average Read: 8mb/s
So the hdd actually performs NEGLIGIBLY faster than the odd? And it's SATA??
When I found that out, I was like "Dude, I'm gettin you a new drive"!
so he's into animal stuff?
she seems to be a nice person!
Why abuse the system that they are working hard to keep satisfactory. But this is like everything else, why OC you're Pentium 4 and memory when doing so will shorten its life?
You could alternatively buy an Arcade unit and find a used 20GB then use its enclosure to pop in your upgrade. That way, your warranty won't be tampered with. Your system was sold without an HDD, so the documents packaged with it would reflect that.
Use Apricorn utility to increase all partitions by %. That way, you can size up everything you need. Any partition utility should be able to do the job.
I did that to keep my recovery partition in tact (on my notebook) when I upgraded from a 120 to a 200. Put old 360 drive in second sata bay (if your notebook has one) and use a caddy/enclosure for the new one, or use enclosure for both (one for each).
Word of advice: if you have anything you REALLY want to be safe d...
I think that there are certain standards that both consoles will still adhere to. I remember at the onset of the generation how 1080 was promised (by both sides) when in reality most games are baseline HD (720). So in other words, the next gen SHOULD see that 1080 is the absolute ideal resolution that all games will run. And although I'd love to see it, XHD is just overkill. I don't really want it, just give me all the other eye candy you can leverage instead of giving me finer pixels. Give m...
Funny thing disc sizes are being mentioned in all of this. Maybe I'm short sighted, but I just don't see gaming heading into the "hundreds of gigabytes" territory. What then, we would need TB hard disks? To store like what, 10 100GB games?!
If anything is certain, I think hard disk drives are going to play a LARGER role than optical discs. OD will be the way it gets to the customer. HDD will be where the game is played from/expanded to.
"But I could imagine the PS4 as a substitute to the PS3 (with fully compatible HW) at PS3 price level but brushed up specs."
I dont think it'll be PS3 price level with higher specs. They can't make an "extension" to the console if what they want to do is "substitute" it. It's got to be one way or the other. PS3 already being as complete as it makes it a difficult choice for them. Do they outdo the console tenfold, or do they just build on what they ...
how much do they want for the gta4 model? i'd buy that one!
Yeah, some of you are right. If you're going to have a "home entertainment system" in your LIVING ROOM, maybe picking up the Elite version instead would get you the best looks. I always thought it looks great as it is, and I really liked the double concavity style they've chosen. It's a pretty well thought out design. And I can live with the power being on the outside, though it is bulky.
Wasn't the DreamCast this same color?
You can upgrade your existing 360 hdd with a 2.5" sata notebook hdd. If you have the skill, the tools, and (of course) a spare notebook drive you could save yourself the cash on an overpriced part. Or better yet, pick up the fastest sata 3.0gb 7200rpm 16mb cache you can get for the equivalent price. You should be able get about 160-200gb at those specs/price range.
It's no easy process (ps3 is much easier) but it'll pay off when you see load times and file copies speed up, t...
I'll agree with you Juuken, just because you decided to do the same. I pulled you off of ignore. I guess people need to take this whole thing more lightly. When fanboys try to turn a sad story like this into another flamewar, it's gotten outta hand. And you to GameDev, for taking the time to mourn a loss. Dying Duck, I'd suggest you do the same. It should be common decency to not bring our tempers into the discussion, on both sides.
Let's not be such adversaries that news like th...
"Maybe its supporters (mostly those who have such strong distaste for anything MS)."
that's the only people i may have a shred less of respect for, since they truly don't contribute to the collective good of this site.
it was a part of the greatest summer of my life. nothing will ever come close to 1999. i moved from florida to california that summer. i made friends, met a new girl, and was 14. im 23 now, wishing i was as free as i was then. and still knew the people i did.
and wishing that the dream never ended...
I think online is overrated. Why pay $60 for a game just to go online and become the next few kills tacked onto some hardcore gamers gamerscore? I almost feel victimized by SC4, I mean you know it's bad when people have like 700 wins and like 3 losses. And you just try to log in and have fun, and you become win # 701.
