Halo3 was FPS gaming nirvana. Forge was mecca.
Correction: IS, not was.
The action is relentless, the controls are the tightest in any console FPS, the graphics are sharp (yes, they are). But what sells Halo3 is the sound. Martin O'Donnel and his team are the REAL magic workers. I crank it up every time I load it up! That game has INCREDIBLE sound!
I second that. Gears2 rewrites the book on 3rd persons tactical shooters. And graphics. And sound!
For the console that wasn't supposed to survive off living room appeal (coughPS3cough) x360 shows that it's focus wasn't bluray. It wasn't bluetooth. It wasn't memory stick readers, built in wi-fi, or even a fancy named CPU and controller.
It was the games.
is a loser.
buy an x360 and become a winner, dude.
COD4 graphics? Don't you people like COD4?
Anyway, Gears2 slaughters everything its path. With a chainsaw. Snake can go hide in a barrel of Drebin's monkeys, bothering Otacon every 2 minutes for tech support for all I care. And being all gay manly.
(hahahaha, that made me lol)
wow...that was more n00b than i care to process. native HD or true HD...that's a tough call
let me clarify your statement. to run at "native" HD means that the screen is most comfortable in HD. that is, it rolls out of the factory preset at its optimal resolution. to run in "true" HD is not an argument to "native" HD. also, true HD is a marketing term for 1080p, but both x360 and PS3 support 1080p, as well as other established HD resolutions. it can ...
MGS4 was so 2008.
It's 5769, by Jewish calendar, so MGS4 didn't make the cut sorry;)
that was great, agrees for everyone! double entendres and avatars...hahaha!
I remember back when they first announced that PS2 was going to be backwards compatible with PSx games, people said that the already crowded library of games would slow down people's purchases of newer games. Now, nothing on PSx stopped me from buying PS2 games. But it's true that the games library on any console can prove to be a very competitive marsh to wade through on your way to the top. That didn't stop a few lesser known sleeper hit games from getting there, but it's a tough climb none...
Gears2 is REALLY awesome. It deserves the top spot. This is the HD gaming era...Gears 2 fulfills the prophecy.
Clicking disagree will automatically donate 10 cents to those poor PS3 owners who lay awake at night crying over their purchase of a PS3. Please, make the change.
MGS4 is sub HD, so unfortunately it didn't make the cut.
I know, I know. About all you can do is cry:)
Well...KillZone2 is the carrot on the string that dangles in front of you PS3 fans and leads you into each new year thinking that you're getting closer.
Logically, a computer sees memory as it is. So you can't say that having x of higher speed memory is like having 2x of lower speed memory. The biggest chunk x can handle is x, NOT 2x. When 3x needs to be loaded, it will read it in 3 chunks of x. Programs need room, so a nice empty warehouse is better than a studio in the city.
Of course, there are uses for faster memory. Obviously graphics memory comes to mind. The framebuffer needs faster memory for reads and writes, and everyth...
I don't want a boss fight. I don't want a sub boss, section boss, or even a final boss. That structure is old and played TO DEATH!
Gears rules through innovative tactical based AI and some incredibly strategic battles. Gears puts more emphasis on weapons and environments.
Boss battles are for platformers and action adventure. Gears is a 3rd person tactical shooter.
online sportsmanship is a toilet bowl at best. i'm almost to afraid to go online in gears anymore! and it's all because of this hardcore attitude. and that's because of fanboyism and overhype! like they have to friggin be on their game like its the SATs or something.

I agree with you. There are certain ammenities we have at our disposal. But then having to play ALL of your matches on mute means you can now put that headset away. Which means people ARE ruinin...
In truth, nothing PS2 represented was copied by Xbox. Not the console. Not even the controller.
Not even the games.
The Xbox brand is a different brand altogether. Xbox Live remains the originator of the successful online model.
Dreamcast may have started it in a sense, but nothing counts before that, as that was a PLATFORM WIDE initiative. And it still failed! Xbox Live is the vision that Sega.Net could've been. And that PSN strives to be.

1920x1080 is beautiful as it is. I think pushing it further just for games is a bit ludicrous. Even for TV and movies. The original NTSC standard (for broadcast TV) came out in 1953 and has endured 50+ years. And we're all thinking that the HD standard is going to be surpassed in a fifth of the time?
Here's what's certain about PS4:
Cell is going to be in PS4.
An nVidia GPU is going to be in PS4.
Here's my speculation about PS4:
Blura...
Well...it's a wish list at best:) Hey, if we start now we can pressure Sony into making this a reality! That is, if they see enough interest they will build it!
(lays of the pipe for a minute)
Um, 3830x2160p with 48 bit color????? If they did their math they would have concluded that every jump in resolution and color depth (plus z stencil) exponentially increases your pixel fillrate needs, as well as as your memory/frame buffer needs. And those needs will in turn ne...
A service that's been around for a while, versus a service that's been around a couple years. Xbox Live is why PSN exists. Everything that Xbox Live introduced was copied by PSN. And there are things that they each have that makes them unique, though Xbox Live has more unique things than PSN.
As far as reliability and stability are concerned, anything goes. Either service can have its down time. Just like a cellphone, that you pay $50+ a month for yet wind up with 2 bars most of...

Even if you have a 20GB (14GB available) you'll be able to install single disc games. Make some room...you gotta get rid of those stale old demos SOME time anyway.
As for netflix, it's not a deal breaker for me. But it's a great add on. I just care about 3 things: XBL, XNE, and the games.
