Corners being cut? I think games need to be cut down to fit both console's memory constraints, though x360 has a far better memory setup.

You see? You can insult DVD, I can insult poor memory architecture. Neither console really comes out on top, though x360 is half of PS3's price and produces nearly identical results. In many cases gaming on either console amounts to the same experience. Both versions will be identical, but in the most noticeable way. Small things will be +/- on...

It's for the best. It's a slow economy and they need to make back the money of development costs sooner. Multiplatform games help them sell at twice the rate.

As far as which version is superior it won't matter. I'll buy it on x360, you buy it on PS3. We don't have to be dogging over each other's shoulders feeling all jealous, just play what you have.

Many of us x360 gamers are long time FF fans, before we ever got an x360. It's not like we're a different species or ...

PS3 has 256MB XDR dedicated to Cell + 256MB GDDR3 dedicated to RSX

total: 512MB

people say that RSX has access to both, but that's only partially true. Cell/RSX has been worked on in such a way that it could be considered a combined rendering array. So, RSX may be aided by Cell, which in turn uses that XDR pool. The memory is STILL hardwire programmed to be dedicated to their respectful processors.

x360 has 512MB GDDR3 shared between Xenon and Xenos + 10...

CellBE is an amazing leap forward in processor technology. PS3 has amazing potential.

Now let's talk about gaming. x360 is a contender that consistently delivers generation leading visuals. Normally, this shouldn't even be a debate for a console that launched at $600, but PS3 doesn't seem have much of an edge in the final results.

The fact of the matter is that x360 continues to prove that it's not about Bluray, Blue Tooth, built-in Wi-Fi, Sixaxis, Memory Stick reade...

Slow down? For rill?? I think your eyes are slow, pal. And in the words of Dane Cook "when someone calls you pal and you're not palls, dude f*ck that. It's on!"

There's slow down in Gears, not Gears2. Gears2 is the opposite, it speeds up!

I'll agree that Grid is the better racer. Le Mans 24hour...that rocks!

it took ATi's universal shader architecture to smack nVidia into new thinking, which led them to developing CUDA so you can put that old GeForce (no older than 8 series however) to work as a GPGPU. and they still fall behind ATi's best efforts at the high to midrange market.

Nothing beats a pair of Radeon HD4870x2 1GB. And if you want affordable just drop down to a HD4850 and pay less than $200 per card and still get 800 stream processors and 512MB GDDR3 each! Or get all insane a...

If Microsoft spent big money to get exclusives on EVERY title that you guys claim they do (and claim they will) here's the problem:

1: it's a BIG investment on their part to take on such a speculative position, as NO game is guaranteed to sell. save maybe Halo and MGS, lol.

2: there really isn't any way to put a price on a game being "bought out", except for maybe development costs.

3: would any of you guys be stupid enough to settle for that ...

Holy sh*t! Light saber battles...man, I could go for that!

Hey, does anyone remember that old Star Wars fighting game Masters of the Teras Kasai on the PSx? I would like to see that get a sequel...with PS3mote/Wiimote support! That or Soul Caliber would be a surefire hit!

I think Metroid Prime has a better overall plot. Plus there's WAY more to do in Metroid than in Halo. But I'm really excited about Halo Wars!

NXE...a sincere courtesy "Thank You" to the loyal Xbox Live subscribers.

A cordial invitation to where the party's at.

A ticket to the evening's entertainment.

It's a pretty exciting time to be a x360 owner.

I've got a 768kB/s. So I have to let things stay paused and grab a meal before I can play it without skips. But I'm also only paying $29.99/month for it, so whatever.

When it comes to preference, Microsoft can only hope that they've covered everyone's wishes. You'll likely find someone who just doesn't like ANYTHING NXE offers.

I don't see anything wrong with it. I didn't see anything wrong with the blades either. But then again, it's 2008 going on 2009 and they've got to make it look like Live Gold members are putting their money toward something.

This is how subscriber based services work. If they don't improve or introduce new...

A touchpad? That should relieve some sore analog thumbs. Does anyone know if they'll incorporate it into gaming?

I wasn't highlighting it as an advantage. And yeah, the memory would clock down to the CPU's speed, not the other way around. So I shouldn't have said forced, more likely that it won't run at its rated speed UNLESS you overclock. But that's basically the answer to the article's question.

It's not going to make any difference in overall system performance. Since you're limited by what your FSB dictates. Do you overclock just so that the memory runs at its higher speed? The answer ...

Maybe it's just your preference, since nothing you said is true. Gears2 is the pinnacle of HD gaming in 2008. Who knows what's in store for 2009.

By your logic, Halo3 is a better game than Gears 2 AND MGS4, since it's a very loosely rated M game. Not much blood and gore there, partner!

plus MGS4 doesn't meet the requirements to be classified an HD game. it falls short a few thousand pixels...such is the case with an overhyped overpriced $600 abortion.

True. And that will happen on any HDD size, once the limit is reached. So it's an experimental feature. Something for owners of an HDD to only benefit from if and when they decide to install their games. It's not mandatory, and it's not going to hurt gamers if they DON'T do it.

You're entitled to you beliefs, thetan. But it's not going to net you Katie Holmes any time soon;)

PS3 should be OUTPERFORMING x360 is this area. This shouldn't even be a debate for a console that launched @ $600. And yet x360 consistently produces games that have generation leading visuals. All because of what? Because Microsoft didn't focus on bluray, bluetooth, memory stick readers, built in wi-fi or fancy named CPU and controllers.

They focused on the games.

...it's hard to surgically direct my insults toward JUST the PS3 fanboys who persist to give x360 fanboys sh*t for liking their console, and not those PS3 fans who are decent.

But you PS3 fans are all gamers, like us too. If you're not a fanboy, my above comment is NOT toward you. If you disagreed not because of fanboyism, my above comment is NOT toward you.
