I like PSP. Good thing they ditched UMD movies. Man...what a fail.
But overall I think PSP is doing much better than people have credited it with. It's just not going to be a DS killer, and that shouldn't be their goal.
My major complaint is that they need to make games FOR the PSP, and not just ported TO the PSP. Cutting down controls is bad enough. My favorite PSP games are the ones that are just what they should be: casual and not so demanding. Easy to play. Doesn...
None of you really get it. At ALL.
Here's the way it is:
2006: PS3 needs to launch within a year of x360 in order to not lose so much ground in the long run. and they release a console with living room appeal in order to make up that gap by pushing bluray.
2007: PS3 needs to promise gamers good games for the next while long enough until bluray starts taking off. primary focus: get bluray off and running.
2008: Bluray starts taking off, and n...
Games should stay as exclusive as possible. It gives people arguments for and against each console. When it comes down to dropping the cash on either console, I step out of the way. The games should be able to speak louder than any of my or anyone else's fanboy comments.
Let's see just how quick PS3 fans slaughter an article about KillZone 2 coming out on x360.
PS3 fanboys insult SquareEnix for wanting to go multiplatform by saying it's all about money, and then they try to be all like "Oh yeah man, Gears and PS3...it's going to happen".
I'm sure just about anything can go, but I couldn't imaging it being the same. Controls are different, and no Xbox live. No game invites, no cross game chat. No NXE parties. It would be dif...
I think they just want to make life harder for Mystwalker. Before their announcement of FFxiii on x360, Mystwalker was enjoying being the best developers on the market for jRPGs on x360. Now, it's going to be much more difficult.
It's been a long and rough ride. Vista was the price MS paid for thinking that a new UI needs to hog resources.
Guess what? It's the same reason why several PC programs that you used to be able to install before on that old 10GB hard drive now in their latest versions take up so much god damn space! Multimedia, flashy skins, button sounds, preloaded content and whatnot.
But then again, how else are you going to put 8 cores and 16GB of memory to use? With the ever exp...
I think PS3 fanboys need to read all of this negative news just to feel better about their purchase. That's fine with me, they just shouldn't feel the need to come into a discussion that doesn't involve them. It makes the 99.9 % of PS3 fans who ARE decent look bad. And it's just desperate to feel like a console needs to "die" just because you're so hyped up about the one you own.
Rrod is grossly over exaggerated and too much of a beaten horse. Nobody even cares why they...
I think gaming laptops just defeat the purpose. Even though eventually their parts become sophisticated enough to compete with some mid-to-high range desktops, they're just not meant to be as user upgradeable. I know all about MXM...too bad not all laptop OEMs decided to use it, as my 8600m GS isn't an MXM laptop GPU. And some laptop OEMs make it difficult just to get to the processor!
All we should hope to be able to upgrade about our laptops are the hard drives, memory, and may...
I have one parked in my garage.
Oh, you said $21000 AUDIO CABLES? No thanx.
...you sure you didn't mean car? Cars and cables are kinda...similar. Let me STFU.
256MB of flash? Extra??
So now x360 has (512MB GDDR3 Shared + 10MB EDRAM Framebuffer + 256MB Flash) on the system board? And is that for ALL skus, not just Arcade? And you can still pack on an HDD and a memory unit to the Arcade if you want?
Sounds good to me! Maybe devs can make use of that extra memory later on in x360s life...
Logically, they wouldn't run two lines of system boards to SEPARATE the skus. That's what external optional equipment is all a...
It's not false, MGS4 is subHD. Beyond3D has a constantly updated list of games that they have experimented with to find out what resolutions and AA samples they run with.
And if you read my comment correctly, you would have come across the word IDEAL. Meaning that's what they shoot for. Not what they may turn out to be in the end (as you have pointed out with Gears and I have pointed out with MGS4).
But take Konami's word, that's fine with me.
BTW, 13 D...
Here's the results I've gotten for the following games that I've installed to the HDD (my 60GB)
Mass Effect:
Entire world loads more uniformly and there's less stuttering in scene changes. They need to fix the glitch where battles are terribly slow, yet selecting commands during a fight plays curiously fast. Also, before sometimes you would press the button and then a couple seconds later the door would open. Now they open quicker.
Bioshock:
Never had iss...
x360 isn't high def? Tell that to subHD MGS4!
a word about upscaling:
PS3 has 256MB XDR dedicated to Cell + 256MB GDDR3 dedicated to RSX
total: 512MB
people say that RSX has access to both, but that's only partially true. Cell/RSX has been worked on in such a way that it could be considered a combined rendering array. So, RSX may be aided by Cell, which in turn uses that XDR pool. The memory is STILL hardwire programmed to be dedicated to th...
In other words, Mystwalker is a better company.
That's all you needed to say, bud.
And UE3 is an engine. Do you know what a game engine is? It's transparent and potentially unidentifiable from previous offerings in the hands of the right developers.
All Microsoft did was make a console that costed low enough for everyone to be able to afford High Def Gaming.
All good points, thanks for replying.
I won't deny that MS may just be going behind the scenes and striking up deals. But that's what all companies do. That's what gives them a reason to come to next month's meeting and stare at a few more charts.
I just don't see much out of taking on a speculative position like that. Microsoft can do more for x360 by just focusing on their console, and letting the developers decide what they're going to do with their games. Look at...
I...really miss FFVIII.
Do you have names, or are you just labeling ALL x360 gamers under that catagory?
Better question: did I ever say that? Look through my comment history and point to a comment where I've said what you've accused me of saying. Because when you accuse all, you accuse the innocent as well.
Because Microsoft are control freaks. I'll admit to that, they aren't too supportive of anything open source or user modifiable. If they would make that small adjustment to the HDD for example they would really boost the console's appeal. But then they would have to let people mod the console to their liking, which would be hypocritical since they've banned users before for the same thing.
Sad but true:(
No. It's us. They're smart enough to know the damage we fanboys can cause each other and to their game.
My assessment:
They've already laid the groundwork for a successful console. Excellent customer support, pricey hardware, and the backing of a premium optical disc format (once again). But where their previous two consoles didn't overly hype the disc format, this time they have.
So in order for them to make PS4 succeed, they need PS3 to provide an excellent launchpad for their future expansion.
I think Sony thought SO much into the future with PS3 that t...
