that's piss poor dev time then. cars are complex yes, but even the car manufacturers themselves can have their design teams work up 3d models in a fraction of that! and they'll have arguably the BEST in modeling and rendering, since those designs are like the master blueprints!
edit at dude below:
the xbox 360's graphics processor (the xenos) is a HELL of a lot more powerful than ps3's (the rsx) in vertex processing. so the Forza dev team in theory could be building ...
to claim that it's better AS A GAME means that you've played it AND Forza 3...but i'm sure all you've actually gotten has been trailers. so right now all you can say is which trailer you like the best.
Their's nothing wrong with coming up with competitive file formats or standards. They have their own version of Adobe's pdf (xps) flash (silverlight) and several other apps. They have their own media formats (wma, wmv) their own word document format (doc, one) and so on.
Sony does the same thing: they used the bizare atrac music format with their failed music service Sony Connect with the Sonicstage media library app!
i'd like to have stations, ala GTA. THAT would be killer! compile your own stations and just cycle through them in game, like playlists.
the last time i checked Forza and GT fans like the same thing: cars.
<cough> LOSER <cough>
you can get home or professional, and i think xp virtualization is in professional.
i got mine preordered on newegg a few days ago. i don't need professional, just download microsoft virtual pc for free and voila! it's the same thing.
Yes, it's just PR BS. In Vegas terms, "glad handing the high rollers". In other words you're respecting the money and fame, not the man or his craft. You're saluting the rank, not the soldier.
Polyfony just has its celebrity status and that's all they'll need as long as people keep giving them the Red Carpet treatment. Turn 10 has to REALLY try just to get noticed, which means they're the incumbent. They'll come up from dead center and throw ACTUAL innovations that no...
@greywolf
True, GT had to pass a few tests of its own in order to bare the moniker of being The Real Driving Simulator. But you feel that cars in Forza are...weightless??? I'll leave that call to your own personal experience, to me Forza and NFS are WAY different. Forza's vehicles defnitely have weight to them. And yes, Forza's physics ARE superior. But I'll leave that one as well to your own personal experience.
When I first played Forza MS 2 I also had NFS Carb...
that car is a total knockout...i mean it, they even included a free heart attack with the total package :\
do they offer financing? i haven't been repo'd...this year anyway :P
that's an amazing design!
Greywolf, Gran Turismo surely deserves a lot of credit for making a successful sim racer franchise and one that's been an iconic part of PlayStation's history. But don't think that Forza isn't up there with it.
Forza bests GT in a lot of real-world physics tests and maintains enough visual flair to make it an awesome game for car enthusiasts and graphics whores. It's also a great game for people who want to go insane with car customization and Turn 10 even did a solid job of he...
no you're right, there isn't much to gain from any of the fanboy talk. lol. it's just another cog in the rivalry.
but i do believe that sony should just keep ps3 the way it is, having a slim version just screws with their ultimate goal.
a slim ps3 still has to have the most expensive parts, as well as an HDD, and wifi. and cutting out those non-essential parts won't add up to much.
sony's trying to make up for the expensive console they built. they're giving into the thought that they need to "change". nope! they don't need to change, change anything and the game is different. they need to stay focused. keep ps3 at $400, build a strong library. that's all they need to do. if people are buying it now th...
bullsh*t. visually and functionally they are the same thing. don't spin it any other way. winning an Emmy just means that they gave into Xross Media Bar's marketing roll.
MCE did it first, and continues to do it best. even in windows 7, it's gone through some minor but visually apparent changes.
it's all about operating costs-to-profits ratio. ps3 is expensive to build. they clearly make solid sales of ps2, and they've done pretty solid with psp. but they're still selling ps3 at a loss. cut the price further and they'll CONTINUE to sell at a loss. they're supposed to be past that phase, coming up on their 3rd year in this gen.
a price cut will mean that ps3 won't be making sony as much money as BEFORE the cut. at $300 they'll need to sell one more ps3 for every 3 they so...
even with a die shrink, cellbe may not be expensive to manufacture, but it certainly is something that ibm still wants to profit on. and ibm only REALLY makes money off cellbe when it's in a ps3, because of it being contracted for large quantities and being a steady product that sony needs.
server technology hasn't expressly boomed with companies buying cellbe powered systems by the groves. they're still buying competitively priced offerings by intel and amd. a lot of companies a...
just like all heirachal file storage systems, your profile on xbl is stored under your account. the key here is that that's usually some alphanumeric heading, so messing with your gamertag won't screw that up. also your licenses for content you've purchased are associated with your account on xbl, so to me i would believe that changing your gamertag wouldn't affect the network or the databases at all. the constant read/writes through the network to and from your xbox 360 and the xbox live ser...
i think it's a great product, and if price is no issue then you've got something awesome on your hands.
but it's getting really...diverse out there now, when you go to buy a new PC or PDA device. i got the verizon htc touch pro (xv6850) and i like how it has a hardware keyboard, but then again the only time i'll be typing on it is when i'm not driving. and if i'm going to be stationary for a while then i'll just whip out my laptop, bigger screen and more comfy. plus it draws star...
i think netbooks are sweet. but they should be priced LIKE netbooks, around $500 MAX.
PDA/Smartphone = 2-4", $100-$300
ULPC/netbook = 5-11", $300-$500 (exception being that ULPCs are VERY expensive)
laptop/notebook = 13-15", $500-$800
desktop replacement = 16" and up, $800 +
haven't played a gt since 2. correction: haven't OWNED a gt since 2, i think i remember playing gt3 a spec on a friend's system.
sim racers aren't for everyone. they're too sensitive, even though that's the whole point. of course, once you play with a steering wheel everything comes together ril nice. :D
YYYYEEEEAAAAAHHHHH!!!! WWWWWWWWWWWHAT???? OOOOKAAAAYYYY!!!!
to find better pics just means that: that you found better pics. they can be highres bullshots, which are what devs use to advertise their games in the best possible way. they'll turn on 16x AA and whatnot, which will give the viewer the impression that the game looks that smooth and jag free.
so don't always go by just the screens. and video isn't any better, it can have pixelation and blocking when compressed with lesser quality. the only proof is in the pudding...actually play...
