Nothing is known ABOUT PS4 hence nothing can be SAID in its favor.
You're arguing against the Xbox 360 because of the Arcade...isn't the topic "if money isn't an issue"? You mean you'd still look at the Arcade SKU if money wasn't an issue?
Your argument failed because you failed to look past your own fanboy opinion.
"360 is unreliable.you can't watch next gen media or use next gen media for game making.the hard drive-less core holds back games.we see games like APB not being able to be made.alan wake get changed from ...
"oh yeah. and this list is a complete failure without the inclusion of the killzone engine. and infamous engine is pretty impressive to. i'm not saying the list fails without it but it would have been nice to see it get props. but not including the killzone engine, that is fail."
That's actually exactly what you said :\
IMHO F.E.A.R. should get a mention before KillZone2, since the engine is what we're talking about here and not just graphics. The Lithtech ...
Well it would make sense that you wouldn't be able to play in a mtach where all the other players have the expansion that you don't.
Speaking of which, just how many The Sims expansions were released back then ;) Oh and Everquest (wasn't that made by Sony...)! Oh and just about everything that has been released on PC!
Nobody complains about all that?
Expansions existed long before DLC, and it was just as strict and exclusive. At least on Xbox Live you do...
Everybody is so quick to judge an entire game engine solely for its graphics!
Here's a few other things to consider
- handling and physics/collision
- audio and sound effects
- input response/controls
- level/asset loading (like data caching)
- computer AI and awareness
- crash endurance, prevention, and recovery (like what to do if a model falls off the map)
- support for future extension
- modularity/flexibility
Well KillZone 2's graphics were certainly great but they're also measuring more than just graphics.
Kids these days...the game engine does more than just graphics people.
Well that's theirs to do I guess, aren't they the host? You forget to mention that Sony charges for DLC as well, and how about Nintendo. They each own the console that their repective DLC would apply to so of course they'd like to make something extra if they could.
But here's some important notes for you:
DLC isn't where either Microsoft or anyone else makes their money. Even if Microsoft gets a cut off of the DLC sales it's still a very negligible drop in the bucke...
you'd just stick with the first console you ever owned.
Don't we buy these new consoles to get NEW experiences? And you're complaining that Microsoft is trying to expand how you use your Xbox 360 with these new features???
If you don't want to use them you don't need to, but personally I'd love to find other things to do than just gaming with my console. It's why PlayStation let you play your music CDs on it way back then, and PS2 let you play your movies.
DLC is usually priced like it should be. There's a lot of premium content out there and pricing CAN vary, but there's also free stuff too! 2 of Halo 3's map packs are free, there's one map pack for each Gears game that's free, and one for Lost Planet as well.
It's true that having to buy this content increases the cost of the game. But you can't say it's not fair. You DID buy the game, and what you bought was on that disc. As far as the consumer should be concerned it was a squar...
...are you kidding me? I guess it's alright if you're up for bubbly bouncy cartoony characters, but I personally believe that boxing is a blood sport :P
i think i would've burned all these boxes.
i'm guessing the marketing budget back then ran purely off donations and kindergarten volunteers :\
edit:
you know what's sad? i see games on xna that look similar to these :P
Agreed, I have both as well and can clearly feel the difference. Windows 7 is much leaner and even when I have all the apps I need installed it's STILL much leaner than Vista.
I have it installed on some old Dell Optiplex GX60 desktop laying around and even though that machine only has 1GB of memory I still have usually ~50% memory left on idle!
I think Media Player 11 was perfect as it was, though the library in 12 is better organized. And I agree that Internet Explorer 8 is awesome, a bit slow at times but awesome.
Well, it's only your opinion that Vista sucks. To me it's been awesome. And Natal is going to break some records.
Microsoft products haven't been anymore overhyped than Sony's. PS3 practically thrived off of the overhyped CellBE, at least Microsoft had to earn their share this gen :\
edit at below:
Yeah, it's unfortunate that a lot of people thought they could enjoy Vista on older and insufficient hardware. But I guess it's also a ding against Microsoft ...
MSN Video ain't got nothing on Youtube :) Google will be around for a while, but it's a good thing that Bing is doing good for Microsoft.
Yeah but we can all agree that The Sims isn't about hyper realistic characters. It's just a bunch of 3d models and AI behavior programmed with a bunch of rules of interaction and so forth. It's nowhere near what Heavy Rain and Milo have shown us as far as realism, let alone anywhere near what Milo had promised in its tech demo presentation.
People who say Vista is too resource hungry need to know that there's a little known service called ReadyBoost running in the background that keeps caching frequently used apps into RAM at regular intervals. It's this "cached" stat that you see in Vista's Task Manager being filled slowly until "free" is usually around 0. But most people don't understand that it's not permanently taken away. Just load up a bunch of windows and apps and watch as the cache is depleted to make...
It's too crazy this year, I'm still having fun with Halo Wars. I'll definitely have time for Halo 3 ODST though, but I have to really commend Ensemble Studios for their solid RTS offering in Halo Wars.
Damn, it's great when you've finally gotten the ODST units researched in Halo Wars, they only cost 100 from your supplies and by then you'll also have the Medic tech researched as well. They do a pretty good job in Halo Wars so I'm dying to get to play them in a full Halo 3 game.
Starchild, my argument with Apocalypse Shadow is that he didn't get past the fanboy opinion and look at the facts.
I owned a 2006 Xbox 360 Premium (as it was called then) until last October when I bought the 60GB and gave my old Xbox 360 to my cousin for Christmas. He hasn't called me up yet about having problems with it. I won't ignore that problems do exist and that there are people who haven't had such luck, but I mean that Xbox went through it ALL! I took it with me on 200 mi...
