Most of Uncharted scenes were actually prerendered :\ When the view changes to behind Drake and you start playing you'll notice texture pop in a lot of scenes, but not during cut scenes. Which is because they're not realtime.

edit: I used to think all of RE4's scenes were realtime too, but I picked up the PC version (which was released years later) and saw the video files in its program folder. They were realtime scenes SAVED as a video file, so they looked like they were realtim...

your patience with fanboys is going to be strained here. PS3 fanboys actually think that those screens are from a realtime scene :\

edit at massahud below:

Yes and no. They'll both be CGI where needed, only Xbox 360's CGI scenes will most likely be lower bitrate video files in order to fit them on the disc. But Squeenix wouldn't make that kind of decision between console versions, everything done realtime in one version will be done realtime on the other version too...

They saw the first screens and trailers of this game back then and thought "oh man, this is GAMEPLAY?!" and then when they see actual footage of the game working on ACTUAL hardware they flip out and blame the only thing they hate anyway, Xbox 360.

...kojima would go out of his way to tarnish his own title and make something that ps3 fanboys would be glad to laugh at xbox 360 fans for.

When has the man ever halfassed anything?

You'd better be planning on a trip to the open zone my friend.

Yeah, see what just happened there? Typical fanboy mentality. Can't accept even the tinniest critique of a game :\

the top screens are CGI and the bottom ones are what Squeenix has been able to get out of the PS3. Xbox 360 has only seen minor builds, just for the sake of Squeenix releasing actual footage of FF XIII running on 360 hardware. Their focus is still on PS3 and what you're seeing is reality...Xbox 360 is not "gimping" PS3's version since they've only just this year been working on anything having to do with the Xbox 360 version.

Again THE TOP SCREENS ARE CGI!

since they themselves claimed that PS3 was capable of finally reaching CGI. The top screens are CGI and the bottom ones are what Squeenix has been able to get out of the PS3. The disc technology has N * O * T * H * I * N * G to do with how the game looks and performs, besides how the game loads.

Final Fantasy XIII is not being downgraded because of disc technology. It's not because of Xbox 360 whatsoever. If you guys would analyze what's been said and done over the years of Squeenix's announcements they've said that they're building this game on PC initially ANYWAY, so the first trailers and screens were of that build. Then came the work that they've ...

It'd be great if Sony let the PCSX2 team take a peek at their work in emulation :)

I don't agree with the bluray thing, bluray sells movies. Its use for games has only been to keep a large game on a single disc and for media in the game (like lossless audio and higher bitrate video). It doesn't make games look or play any better.

Sure I guess having bluray in the end really only would've added to Xbox 360's value, no question there.

"were they necessary changes for performance, or are they to accomodate the game's multiplatform status"

Don't forget that they're building this game on a PC anyway, so the builds before any official footage from either console would've naturally looked and/or played better than what we're going to see in the end.

Well, if it's your interpretation that I'm in a hole...okay. I don't see how you'd disagree with what I'm implying here though, that there's always a wealth more of info to be gained from analysis.

oh! i see what you're saying...hm. well it's still not stupid as you see it, since Ballmer isn't saying that Microsoft offers neither, he's just saying that Apple and Linux do. if it were interpreted that way, yeah it'd be stupid. but that's not what he means :P

I just configured a new system on newegg for $1200 without monitor, keyboard, mouse, or speakers. And it's a friggin high end gaming monster! Phenom II x4 945 and two 1GB GDDR5 Radeon 4870 graphics cards. Normally I'd opt for any x2 GPU, but this time I saw a deal on Saphire VaporX, and it's a B1TCHIN looking heatsink!

edit: oh and i just ordered the InWin XFighter case, that thing looks awesome! its extruded side grille should be able to vent those gpus just awesome, check it o...

...and the author wrote it the way HE interpreted it, so what's your point?

...and if the article was in another language you'd have an interpreter reading it for you, in the way HE interpreted it.

As humans we are kinda left to our own capacity to interpret things, and the way I interpreted that line is actually very logical. He may have not said it right there but his intended message was that Apple are still around. He could've said that they're not making money, ...

Well that certainly is true, but software improvements are also culpable. For instance a reformat and install of the original xp from 2001 might not go as smooth as the same but instead installing xp sp2.

A new OS ALWAYS breathes some life into your PC, but so does a reformat I guess. Just don't expect it to be the ONLY thing you'll have to do to get your system working, since a lot of the time there will be components that the OS install disc didn't come with drivers for.

Well I guess it's not a bad thing to compare yourself to the other competitors, but people you have to stop thinking that this is something that only Microsoft does. In fact they're going to HAVE to measure up to every other competitor anytime they enter a new field or industry.

They're not bashing anybody, just sorting out who's where.

Apple makes PCs just like any other manufacturer out there. Their quality only comes from the fact that they make the computer and the operating system, so naturally what rolls out onto shelves has been met with Apple's reliability testing.

But so does everything that rolls out of PC OEM factories...it's Microsoft in the end that suffers since they have to support everything that can go into ANY PC configuration. On the other hand, Macs have a limited array of configurations, and...

God why on earth can't Sony just define themselves without using others to define them?

Its evident in every facet of business they buy themselves into.

edit:

Quotes? How about everything they've been able to copy and then say it's better.

Also Sony Vaios Recommend Windows Vista :)

Also, have you ever heard of Jack Tretton? That guy has been notorious for his bad mouthing:

Just long enough to get you by Forza MS 3's release ;)
