Bluray is good for movies, but netflix streaming on Xbox 360 offers a pretty good alterative. Of course not in the way of HD but still it doesn't fail to entertain. Some of us just aren't all that whored out to high def yet.
Bluray only gives Sony an edge if the buyers are going to be spending 8 hours a day watching movies. How many of us even have 10 minutes to go and buy a bluray movie? Netflix is the option for me, and many other guys at work I know agree.
It'...
PS3 didn't include HDMI cables or a headset and it was $600 at one time.
...so?
OH! And don't forget how XBL is PER USER. Some families buy only one Xbox 360 and have like 3 XBL users. If each was a gold member then Microsoft has made 3 times what they normally make.
Xbox 360 can be cut down in price and Microsoft will STILL make back a lot off XBL. Units sold doesn't matter as much to Microsoft as much as XBL Gold subscribers. The future is going to be solid growth for MS: they've built the most successful and profitable online gaming model thus far. All ...
Right...skip a few dental appointments while you're at it. Why not go a year without insurance? Or a week without eating?
Oh yeah...I forgot most of you don't even have your own homes yet and are still recieving $20 weekly allowances from your parents :\
You're right, I could've saved up for a PS3 slim...wow. $50 a year is killing me...5 years to buy a slim. Wow.
Seriously. I bring back like $550 a week...and that's nothing to brag about :\
...
Guys...free is a gimmick. Sony is kicking themselves for not having the financial security of a subscriber based service like XBL. PS3 gamers don't have the guaranteed leading-edge innovation of XBL.
They've cut the cost of PS3. Here's how it breaks down:
PS3: $299 + 0/month for PSN = they made $299 off this sale (subtract manufacturing costs)
360: $299 + 49.99/year for XBL = they made $349 off this sale (subtract manufacturing costs)
Xb...
Actually Greywulf if you move Sony's testicles over just a "hair" (hahahaha!) you'll see that Microsoft is enjoying a fine and dandy lead.
Greywulf Greywulf Greywulf...you can stop trying to act as if Xbox Live isn't the premiere online gaming experience.
It just is, okay?
It's already been well established. Are you going to try and downplay something been running long and strong like XBL? PSN might have nice things too but if not for Mic...
You PS3 fanboys are such R E M A R K A B L E losers.
Everytime they add something new to XBL's list of reasons to upgrade to gold you guys think that you're paying for just that feature alone!
And it STILL stands that you don't need to upgrade to gold if you don't want to!
XBL Gold in 2005: $49.99/year
2006: $49.99/year
2007: $49.99/year
2008: $49.99/year
2009: $49.99/year
XBL before NXE: $49.99/year
After: $49.99/year
Before facebook and twitter: $49.99/year
After: $49.99/year
you get the picture. they're not profiting, they're adding features. the consumer isn't paying more. we're getting more for our money.
you ps3 fanboys are such losers. spinning everything, lol. ...
They're leary to get a browser because of all the antitrust suits and complaints of unfair business. Especially in Europe.
A browser in the dashboard would really push those sanctions and Microsoft can't jeopardize Xbox 360's sales in other countries like that. But they did manage to get MCE working (you download the MCE program from your Vista PC to the dashboard).
Definitely a good time to buy a 360. I moved and left mine with my brother, so I think I'll be going Elite this year.
PS3 Slim? I might buy one just to play my movies, or just buy a straight bluray player. It'll look better in my entertainment center anyway. Yeah, no I'll have gaming and online covered with my Elite thank you very much.
It is working...out of all of the people who actually have give a sh*t about this site it's the PS3 fanboys that have anything to say right now.
Which means one guy and his 300 accounts.
Sony invented price drops confirmed :\
Man...seriously wtf are you thinking? Next you'll be claiming that Sony invented air.
by saying that this site has opened your eyes to rrod. this site is populated by fanboys who'd gladly approve 99 more articles in a day with rrod "claims" just to fuel the rrod hype. which means that it's the ps3 fanboys who are to blaim here, since i know xbox 360 gamers wouldn't do it.
ps3 fanboys say "how many ylod stories have you really seen" when in fact it should be "we only approve articles that bash xbox".
the truth is that ...
...i think you're just intercepting the fedex truck and giving them back the same one.
yes. we all believe that your hot billionare entrepenure nuclear missle development biological warfare specialist scientist cousins that do side jobs as superhero crime fighters are on their 5th and 7th xbox 360s.
what's not to believe.
gosh.
wow.
the word of God herself...unfunking believeable.
oh lookie! guess who's on the right path to openzone abyss!
Okay, to the best of my knowledge I will list the bonuses that bluray has to offer:
space
space

Seriously. There's nothing technical that you could cough up as being a major benefit of using bluray. For gaming anyway. You can't just say that a 50GB disc will make today's console games play on my pentium 2 400mhz 32MB voodoo 2 16MB equipped PC from 1997.
NOW, for video and audio that's a whole different matter. Naturally they ...
Actually you're talking to someone who knows quite a bit in the way of technology and game development. Sure Naughtydog is saying it themselves but I have to take the side of the guy up there who says they haven't even tried on Xbox 360 yet.
From a tech stand point ps3 and 360 are neck and neck. there's not much between them. Bluray isn't anything special...you're joking if if you say that a disc is real innovation. It's the system.
Memory Processor and Graphics....
They don't need the whole disc because that's JUST the point: bluray is overkill for gaming. Most games just don't need the space, instead devs will offer filler. Like having 1080p cgi for cinemas or having sound mastered in high def.
But the system is what determines how the game looks and works, not the disc format. The disc format is just for convenience and how the game loads (transfer rate). If naughtydog were honest people they'd say that Uncharted "on a single disc&...
