Advertising pays the bills people. Even if they make money off XBL it's still a chance for companies to catch onto as much media exposure as they can by using two of the most successful and proven gaming communities: Xbox Live and PC gaming.

-memory is tight, not nearly as flexible as xbox 360 (256XDR+256GDDR3 vs 512GDDR3+10eDRAM)
-disc format just means having game data on a single disc
-lacks modern graphics processor, rsx isn't nearly as efficient as xenos

You know dude, you don't have to doubt that Xbox 360 games CAN look as good as PS3 games :\ It's good that Sony got you that well convinced, but you should stop thinking that PS3 is a superior machine.
In fact even Uncharted wasn't all that it was cracked up to be, as Naughtydog said it themselves that the cutscenes were pre-rendered anyway to utilize bluray's space and to keep the game from stuttering during level loads.

I don't think they put those companies to shame really, everybody has their own ideas of what they want to bring to the table. Gears is brutal menacing and fairly tactical, whereas Mass Effect is very tactical and tricky to get into. And Halo is something different altogether, many people commend it for its online multiplayer and many others compliment its AI.

I think a lot of people seriously underestimated Xbox 360's graphics power just because PS3 had the good fortune to have a cpu named Cell Broadband Engine and people didn't look past it.
There have been numerous titles on 360 that have really shined, especially in graphics. Even those that got bashed by the fanboys, like Halo 3. It's still one of the best looking games this gen, just play it and take it all in: you'll be surprised to see that there are some truly amazing things g...
Characters were divided between tech, biotic, and soldier classes. I'd like to see more environmental stuff with their abilities though, like locking a room with tech powers and shorting the gas or power. Like making your own traps, that would be killer.
Hopefully they'll come up with more than just hacking and psychokinesis stuff, though those are awesome too.

Even if they'll both be around the same price, Sony would be a fool if they think it'll help them overtake the proven success of Xbox Live. Microsoft continues to drive the REAL innovation this gen as Xbox Live was always at the forefront of online console gaming. It's a rep they've rightfully earned.
Xbox Live will continue to bring in customers. PSN is free and Sony should kick themselves for it, since now they have to GIVE you the console just to get any hopes of catching up...
Actually you have to take bluray out of the equation if you're talking just GAMES. And for that comparison 2009 for PS3 has produced no sim racer while Xbox 360 will be getting Forza MS 3 before year's end. KillZone 2 came and went, MLB 09 made strides, but PS3 just rode the bluray train as Sony has intended it to.
