I think nobody here really knows what they're talking about. And to those who say Rising is a spin off, so is MGS. It's a spin off of the original MG games on Nintendo, and that didn't stop it from being one of the greatest games in history.
MGS Rising has the chance to do the same for the series...

Wow, you're already so sure on something that hasn't had any concrete details yet. How about just leaving the speculation out of it and seeing that this will be the first true next gen MGS this gen, since it's going to be coming out a couple years after 4. Which means it's going to top 4.

Great point, and it's the truth. People forget how many configurations of PCs there are in the PC world. You can pick any architecture or socket and from there you'll have at least 6 manufacturers that each produce a motherboard series for it, from fully featured to budget boards. Then you have the components you're going to be adding, choosing from 2 cpu manufacturers with 3 main lines of product offerings each. Then there's graphics, which is very complicated since a new series is released ...

Actually the resolution only counts for the movies, ingame is still 720p since PS3 can't handle it at 1080p. The Xbox 360 version won't have any mode switches since both the CG movies and the game render at 720p.
If oyu have an HDTV either version will be fine, if you want to see 1080p quality video and lossless audio then the PS3 version is for you. But both games will look the same as far as actual gameplay is concerned. Actually I'd think that the 360 version might get smoothe...
The game renders in 720p. There will be mode switches when the movies come on in the PS3 version.
PS3 doesn't render this game in 1080p.
edit at below: you mean to say upscale, but the problem with that is that the PS3 version will look blurry when compared to it running in 720p non upscaled. so you better HOPE there are mode switches, unless what you want to see in the end in PS3 once again butchering a multiplat with its blurry upscaling.

At the Best Buy I work at I've seen maybe 2-4 Xbox 360s come in for us to exchange/send to service in the last month. Come on dude, just leave it be. Final Fantasy XIII is exactly as it should be given what these consoles can do. In fact I'm pretty sure they've gotten more out of both consoles than some of the great exclusives on either side, including Uncharted 2.

The Metroid games were awesome, but I loved the GameCube Metroid Prime series the best. Metroid Prime 2 Echoes really nailed it down, of course I'm one of the few gamers who didn't mind the backtracking. It still amazes me even today how awesome that game was.
