Sony doesn't understand then the ethics of business. Why try to win a gen late in the console's life when your competition has no intention of playing according to YOUR playbook?
Microsoft's goal is to force Sony to shorten the lifespan of its consoles. It's the same in the PC world...how many times in the last 4 years since this gen started have nVidia and AMD released new hardware? It's the same thing, yet nobody complains there! And these are $300-$500 PARTS, not CONSOLES!

Where did I say that it "sold better"? I said that in the long run it was more viable than those two. Meaning that after Xbox came Xbox 360. After the DreamCast came the...? DreamCast has amazing support but was very short-lived. GameCube was an abyss of very minimal 3rd party support and it too had short-lived potential.

Well what I'm saying is that Forza has better appeal to that younger audience that leans more toward those kinds of features. Of course it has NO bearing whatsoever on GT 5's sales, I'm just showing how Turn 10 really aimed to please EVERYONE. Not just car enthusiasts.
Obama, Microsoft's influence was felt throughout both generations. Xbox was a very well received console and did much better than DreamCast and GameCube in the long run.
And as far as winning a console war, they've been doing well enough on their own to see to it that they'll be around next gen.

They didn't win this gen but they really did make Sony feel sorry for launching at $600 and not having a service as well established as Xbox Live....
XMB was copied from Windows XP MCE. PSN was Sony waking up to the sound of the Xbox Live train making huge strides for Xbox's 2nd generation.
As for hardware being unreliable it's a moot issue that's been addressed.

I think Natal will do plenty for 360 on its own.
God of War III is not a system seller since it's rated MA and parents will already know what it's about (violent hack n slash). Plus it's only going to be purchased by those who've played the GoW titles before.
Gran Turismo 5 can sell PS3 since it's for all ages...but the younger audience would prefer Forza Motorsport 3 for its much more community oriented features and for unbeatable customization options.

Heavy Rain and God of War III wont sell consoles. Heavy Rain might do well on its own, but it's too mature. To sell consoles you need mass market appeal. God of War III will be well received by the fans, but it's not on everyone's list and it too is a mature game.
The Titans this year will be Gran Turismo 5 and Halo Reach. Those 2 will duke it out...
...my netbook heats up pretty good, so does my PC monitor. And just about any LCD HDTV warms up pretty high too.
It's a powerful machine that has to render HD gaming graphics. Come on people, it's going to generate some heat.
GTA IV was anything but a disaster. I think it truly accomplished what Rockstar set for: bring the world of GTA III to the next gen. Literally, this is Liberty City as it was meant to be.
And they kept everything that made GTA III cool. Sure, they over did the dating sim crap (...why?) and the whole drama thing. But the heart is still there: car jacking and f*cking people up.
Stop thinking you guys know better than Kojima!
Don't prejudge the game, just because they gave hints at it being something different doesn't mean it won't be MGS caliber. You'll all come up with the strangest of ideas but in the end none of it will be what Kojima has in store.

PS1 thrived into the first years of the next millennium. It had strong support even as PS2 took its sales.

Both consoles have very few games that are 1080, and some are even less than 720. Xbox 360 games usually have the benefit of having antialiasing at very little performance drop.
Halo 3 being subHD is because of the two-pass HDR lighting engine that renders 2 1152x640 frames. MGS4 being subHD is because it's an anamorphic 4:3 resolution (1024x768).
