Yes...but that's still a video file, however you slice it. It could be made using finger puppets, but it's still an HD video file. If it was entirely in engine, there'd be no need for that extra data.

And then the input lag comes into play. Even with a perfect connection, there is greater input lag than playing locally. Then if a lot of people are using the service, say at peak times, the video quality of the stream drops and you end up with a pixelly mess and even more input lag.

I can see the potential in streaming, but you really will need a beast of a connection to get as close to possible to the experience of playing locally.
Physical media may seem quaint t...

That's fine in theory, but what happens if their servers have a blip while that's happening or your connection randomly drops out and you don't notice.

They're relying on people always having a perfectly stable and fast connection at all times, and few are able to guarantee that.

Hopefully they implement a system where the download simply starts up again from the point of the connection loss, rather than having to start again.

So long as that tin can plays CoD, Fifa and Halo....it'll still sell.

Why exactly do people bother to listen to analysts? It's just half-hearted guesswork and "maybe this will pan out, but maybe it won't".
I will speculate for free....

The Next Xbox might radiate awesome directly into your frontal lobe.
Kinect 2 will be able to read your thoughts and actually become an autonomous robot to perform the daily tasks you can't be bothered to do.
The next Xbox might feature a new controller, but it might...

Look at LA Noir. As great as those faces looked, the emotion shown was extremely exaggerated at times....it didn't look natural or subtle. That was Cage's point, better tech can facilitate a broader range of emotion, can give the faces in games the same sort of range as the best actors can with subtle gestures rather than overblown gurning.

Cage takes a lot of crap for being passionate, yet other devs who are just as confident and passionate about their work don'...

His parents may to be blame, but he may also be a psychopath...hard to blame them for a deranged mind unless their abuse helped to create it.

Blaming his parents at this stage is a little like blaming video games or movies, yet another passing of the buck from the individual responsibe. Even if he was raised badly, plenty of other people have came from abusive backgrounds and not gone on murdering sprees.

It could be argued that the older fans do the exact same thing whenever anyone tries to point out the positives of the new game, or even the areas where the new and old don't really differ all that much and they've simply tweaked the approach.
Old fans want it the same way, or no way...and I understand that to an extent, being a fan of old school Resident Evil games. But even then, I could appreciate the game that Resident Evil 4 become as there was enough of the old school s...

No, reviews should NOT be ignored, you should find the ones that matches your style most closely and stick with them. Reviews are consumer advice, and gamers end up buying drivel like Colonial Marines precisely because so many of them didn't wait for/ignored reviews.

This attitude of telling people to ignore what critics say sounds an awful lot like what publishers would prefer gamers to do....mindlessly open their wallets and buy everything they release.

I feel ashamed of my fellow countrymen....haven't we all learned about licenced games by now? There are the odd exceptions, but they're just that, exceptions.
All they've done now is send the message loud and clear - "We will buy any old crap with a licence attached...screw quality!"

Why do so many people seemingly want the only purely games focused gaming company to stop creating hardware? I'll never understand this weird attitude towards Nintendo of some people seemingly desperate to see them fail. You really want an industry with only Sony and Microsoft making the hardware?

Nintendo are unique, we need that uniqueness to remain in the industry at the hardware level, because the likes of Sony and MS are more interested in stagnation and safety tha...

Nope, don't care what colour, creed, religion or sexuality a game character is....never have, never will. Just make me a damn good game.
If you want to make a story revolving around race or whatever, well that's fine, but I don't see any game being brave enough to tackle any really meaty issues, certainly not with any competence.

I remember someone back in the PS1 days complaining that the hands of the character in Alien Trilogy were white and not black. ...

It's a great point, there's slowly but surely becoming less and less actual consumer advice in reviews. Glitches, poor loading times, rubbish AI and essential elements like sound design are often completely ignored in reviews.

Previews might as well not even exist, they never, ever give an honest impression about what they've seen or played. Perhaps they're not allowed to, but then you have to ask what the bloody point is then?

Games "j...

There was no way that this was going to be a different game to the dredge that's already been inflicted on the other platforms.
And it's a shame too, I wanted 3rd party titles to start selling well on the system, but crap like this shouldn't even be sold at all. I hope it fails, even if it gives publishers a bad impression regarding their chances of selling on Wii U. I can only hope they're honest with themselves and realise that their game being utter garbage is w...

Care to define it then? If you're talking about hardware power, that hasn't actually mattered since the SNES days....and it didn't matter in all territories then either (Master System outsold the NES, Megadrive outsold the SNES in the UK for example).

Despite Nintendo consoles being "underpowered", they're by far the most successful video games company around. Microsoft and Sony? Their games divisions are almost always in the red for the majority ...

If he's as big of a fan as he claims, he wouldn't have allowed the game to ship in such an appalling state, and with such a pathetic fan fiction nightmare of a story.
He also wouldn't have missed the point of the original movie, which was to subvert the gung ho military attitude by having the marines be hopelessly outmatched. The man is incompetent at best for allowing this mess of a game to exist, a liar at worst for trying to pass that demo off as actual gameplay.

Art books are the most lazy inclusion in so-called special editions. The artwork available in them can most likely be found online in pristine detail anyway, and I doubt anyone looks at them for more than a few minutes before never touching them again.
But they make the box feel heavier, and that's all that counts for the publisher. Put some meaningful extras in the special editions, preferably something which actually benefits the game in some way. Extra content that can only ...

Hey dingbat, pay attention. We don't care that it's going multi-platform....we DO care that the finished Wii U version is being held back for 6 months for no adequate reason.

That won't do it Ubisoft...you messed up big time with this one. Their excuse is not a good one - they barely marketed the last game (Origins), it only just scraped 2 million in sales across 6 formats. The best selling version was the PS3, with 750,000 copies.
Frankly, I think the Wii U version would have beaten that and beaten it quickly. Over 3 million Wii U owners were looking for a big name game to come down the pipe, and Rayman Legends was positioned to be that game. Peop...

Origins on both 360 and PS3 sold less than a million copies each.
The Wii U version of Legends would most likely sell more than both combined due to the lack of games released on the Wii U right now, and the time of the year it was to be released.

In short, Ubisoft are absolute idiots of the highest calibre.
