A huge miss by not giving a nod to Mortal Kombat... the violence was a huge deal when it came out. Long live MORTAL MONDAY!
I like them but at the same time is like to see the Big N step up their trade show appearances. They've underestimated the buzz that E3 and TGS generate!
Now this is a good idea. Implement with deep customization options and allow for online sharing!
You're missing the point--there are FAR worse games than what was listed.
How about all the shitty mobile games?
Some of the cash-grab attempts that have shown up on indie sections of consoles?
Tie-in movie/TV games?
I get it, these 4 games didn't live up to the hype and had small technical problems but for all the small problems these had many other games clearly didn't try.
Yes, I'm aware that the Wii U is the third generation Gamecube hardware. That's the point!
A $9.95 activation fee for GameCube disc emulation is VERY attractive.
Small benefits like single console, virtual saves and HDMI output make this a no brainer for Nintendo and fans.
Crappy article! Unfortunately we can assume the author only plays AAA titles since there are FAR worse games than what was listed...
These 4 don't belong on this list:
Call of Duty: Ghosts
Killzone: Shadows Fall
Thief
Watch Dogs
Repetitive? Sure. Shameful? No.
Slightly More Bold Predictions:
1. Nintendo will officially release Star Fox 2 for the SNES as an eShop title with limited cartridge release. The internet will break as a result of ensuing network traffic.
2. Mother Trilogy will be released in the West as a 3DS title only.
3. Amiibo Land or similar will be announced. This will be Nintendo's new flagship amiibo title and will boast cross 3DS and Wii U play online.
4. Ninte...
That prediction seems unlikely. Possibly a 64GB or 128GB model simply because of the type of storage being used!
Bold is the wrong word, these are safe predictions! Fun article though.
I'm not sure we need yet another article decrying that "reviews are just opinions". Let alone one reads poorly because of questionable grammar choices and sentence structure.
Come to think of it, using a controller is a cheap way to cash-in on my nostalgia of controllers!
Am I the only one wondering why they aren't acknowledging that The Lost Frontier was Jak 4?
@JaXion5
I lived it! Pirating was the major contributing factor. Shortly after release a group online created a hack that you could burn to a CD to load pirated games.
Sales of games plummeted so publishers abandoned the platform. Sega put out a hardware revision that patched the exploit (see black Dreamcast) but it was too late.
By comparison, the PS2 was not nearly as easy to hack...
I'm impressed by all versions of the game as it looks good overall. Personally, I've tried the PS3 beta over the weekend and loved it.
I'm not committed to a purchase yet though as I'm planning on buying a next gen console soon.
@nick
The article does make a point to call that out (in bold) in the interest of fairness.
Nah. Lionel rocks!
Devil World, the old Famicom game is due for some love. I'd like to see what Nintendo could do with this IP today!
I continue to be amazed at the entitlement of a game community on this topic. I've made my points and you're all welcome to disagree with me because you "feel" SE was in the wrong.
You see Square Enix as this big evil corporation but behind Final Fantasy Type 0 are real people. Developers, artists, writers, etc. Ask other devs how they'd feel if this happened to them!
The translation was not authorized.
Imagine taking a book or graphic novel, translating to another language and distributing. That's EXACTLY what they're doing here.
The argument that translations don't use the original game is crap considering the script (and in some cases logos) is part of the game.
I'm 32 and have played all here except Pokemon Red, The Sims, Portal 2 and Minecraft.
A pretty decent list but unfortunately there are so many classics so even if the list were 50 games long would be tough to cover all must play games!
