To be honest BlackTar187 I dont remember anybody discussing resolution as much as they are this gen. I especially dont remember people being so vocal to the developers.
As for xbox owners getting a "piece of the pie", I would guess most of those xbox players (who were bothered enough about resolutions to talk trash last gen) have bought a ps4 this gen (as it does the higher resolutions that they care so much about). It's probably the same morons from last gen stirring it...
They are "Trying so hard to catch up with PS4's hardware performance" because it must get tiring for games developers to be inundated with messages about the resolution. If they get it sorted maybe people will actually comment on a game itself for once. Just look at Sunset Overdrive. It looks gorgeous and a fun to play to but all anyone seems to talk about is "is it 1080p? It wont be 1080p, Its not 1080p". How depressing is that for a game delveloper. They show a brand...
I respect your opinion but I have to say that your comment of
"If it were that easy to implement a radical adjustment to strategy, Microsoft would have removed their always online DRM after the May reveal and before E3"
reminded me of when Major Nelson said that "we can't just flip switch" with regards to getting rid of the always online stuff. Then a week or so later thats exactly what they did lol. Proof that MS could have changed th...
You're right, there is a lot of planning envolved with the E3 conferences so big stage reveals with guests and stuff can not be done on the fly but something like dropping the camera and price could be done as that part was quite low key regarding lights and staging. Just a number on a screen.
Now believe me, Im not saying it wasnt heavily discussed before hand but they could easily have had both options (with or without camera bundle) ready to go then made their decision based on...
One thing i know they will do is watch the MS Conference closely, see what gets a good reaction then, using the 6+ hours they have once the MS Conference is over, tweak and add enough content to make MS look poor in comparison.
It's what happened last year. They PS Eye was going to be bundled in with a higher price, after seeing the reaction MS got they pulled it and undercut them. MS had a great conference last year on the games front (possibly better than Sony) but all...
Microsoft do themselves no favours by going first each year, it gives sony time to react and counter with their conference. I mean this year sony are on stage more than 6 hours after the MS conference has finished. Meaning no matter how great the MS one is Sony have plenty of time to make the required adjustmens to blow them out of the water. Cant fault sony, it's a great business strategy, MS is dumb for always playing their hand first.
That's not really the argument either.
This is..
"I have a different console to you, I think mine is better than yours. What you choose to spend your money on does not affect my life in the slightest but I will proceed to deride your choice of console simply because its different to mine. This is an article about a game I can't buy on a system I dont own. My only reason for being here is to find a reason to insult this game, which again has no af...
Isnt Driveclub sacrificing 60fps (to a locked 30fps) for more track detail. I guess you're also disappointed the PS4 isnt powerful enough to do both right?
Why is next gen defined by 1080p?
Surely a game can look amazing without hitting this fanboy imposed target. Ryse looks next gen. It's one of the best looking next gen games out there but only at 900p. Does that extra 180p really make so much of a difference that games cant look next gen without it?
Will we ever move on from this argument?
Well in that case the game is obviously rubbish, right?
Im a little confused. How is this "insider" more reliable than the others? Does he have a good record of having correct information. I say this, not to be negative but because there seem to be so many insider blogs and articles in the run up to E3 but some seem to get more support than others.
Because god forbid anyone thinks something positive about the XboxOne for half a second.
If that's true its going to be an amazing conference. My only slight cause for doubt is that it seems a little too good. It's like every single game that people have asked for is gonna be there. I guess will have to wait and see, fingers crossed :)
Phil Spencer at the 2014 E3 conference...
"We've been listening to our fans and our detractors. They've been saying "drop the kinect and drop the price to $399.99". Well how about I go one better, the RRP is now $349.99....including kinect!"
He'll then say "of course to afford this we're making a few cutbacks. The following games are now cancelled due to ceased funding...ahem...all of them. Well thanks for coming everyone. Enjoy the re...
It's okay, I'm they're coming. I think E3 this year will be full of new game announcements, I just hope at least a few related to 2014.
Erm...that's already been announced? Quantum Break and the next Gears game. But lets be honest, the joy of E3 is rarely about the games we know about its about the ones they surprise us with :)
I doubt we can blame the awful change in the direction FUSE went on MS. If anything MS would have wanted FUSE to have been a success if they new Insomniac were gooing to be making an exclusive title for them. I know plenty of folks, myself included, that are wary of Sunset Overdrive because of how badly FUSE turned out.
Seriously, it's like they want it to fail. Poor Phil Spencer, spends weeks talking up E3 and creating a positive buzz the X1 then boom, one comment from the MS Godfather and the wind is taken out of everyone's sail. Well done Bill, did you learn that one in Don Matricks "foot in mouth" class?
I love that you've actually got disagrees.
Erm if you're one of the people playing resolutions and not games I suggest you sell your console as you're obviously not sure what it's for.
