To be honest there was a backlash against the drm, requiring an online connection and the price (due to the inclusion of the kinect 2. The sequel to a product no one apparently wanted).
Then there is a backlash to changing those policies & not having confidence in their vision and unbundling Kinect 2 (the sequel to a product everyone apparently wanted but can no longer have confidence in).

Im confused why people dont seem to be linking "listening to the fans" with "increasing sales". Of course MS has made these changes to increase sales.
But why would they think these changes would do that? Because that's what the gaming community (read "fans) have told MS they wanted before they would buy the console. They listened to their fans.

Very true. The changes MS have made are definitely due to what Sony has done with PS4 and the positive reaction sony got from the gaming community.

The kinect free model is too expensive. When you think in the UK you can get an X1, kinect, titanfall and metal gear for £389.99, a kinect free model with no games at £349.99 does not seem like value for money. It should be £299.99 at the most.
Im sure the kinects os integration is great ,I'm still using my kinect 1 to use my 360. I haven't got an X1 yet but I will get the Kinect bundle when I do.

I'd say the only weakness this shows is that MS did not do a good enough job in msking the kinect a necessity. They needed sone killer games that made it look worth while. The dashboard and sign in controls might be cool but it wasn't enough to convince joe public it was worth the extra money.
MS are now giving the people what they want...choice. This will prove invaluable when it comes to September and they release in more regions like China and Japan.

The point I was making was not that MS hadn't f'd up (they really did) but that there are certain people out there who complain and complain about an aspect of the console but when that gets fixed they just moan about something else. These are people with no intention of buying X1 and yet spend their time grumbling about it. If they dont like MS as a company or its games that is fine abd fair enough but why moan about features the X1 has or does...

To be honest I think dropping the Kinect now is more about preparation for when the expand their market in September. The space required for a Kinect has always been a sticky subject in certain regions, like Japan. "Why should I pay a premium for a camera I don't have the space to use?". Giving people the opt out of a Kinectless bundle will make it more attractive (well more attractive than however it was) in certain territories.
I think MS should have dropped lower in price maybe to $350. Sony is generally seen as the superior tech. Whether thats true is neither here nor there, the point is that the public perception is that for the same money you get more bang for your buck with a PS4. Hell if sony dropped by only $10-$20 it would be enough to sway people. More Power for Less. I feel MS may have played their hand too soon. They are definitely at risk of a Sony E3 price announcement

I think we are just going to have to agree to disagree here.
I think most people honestly dont care about the resolution. The vocal minority do and thats fair enough but I'd say on average most next gen gamers would look at the graphics of Ryse or Sunset Overdrive (sub 1080p) and be happy that those games look next gen. Same with Infamous and Driveclub being locked at 30fps rather than 60fps. Most PS4 owners wont care as they still look gorge...
Hmm Im not sure if you're being sarcastic or not. If not and you legitimately don't know, which is entirely possible allow me to tell you. Shenmue 3 is (would be) an action RPG and the concluding part of a planned trilogy that started back on the Sega Dreamcast. It's yet another title that joins the ranks of Last Guardian & Half Life 3 as a long awaited titled that people wish for at every E3 but never turns up.
I have still yet to get a next gen console, im waiting to see what happens at E3. Rest assured that my choice will be based on the upcoming games library not pixels per inch :)
