While Rachet and Clank is a proven series I'm always amazed that every single game announced for Playstation is pushed as the next big thing. Then they fail and people pretend it didn't happen. Every new title isn't going to sell 7 million copies.
The reality is if there were 3 million more of each console available for sale right now they'd be gone in days. So to pretend the Series X isn't selling better than the One is ridiculous.

Actually movie studios do try to preserve every single movie. They currently take old film and restore it or transfer it to other media.
You never know who might hit it big and you want all of their footage. It could be very valuable later. Also the Library of Congress keeps copies of everything including porn. They have the largest porn collection in the world.
