I think the consumer version release depends on what happens when developers have time with it. Initially it will be about business applications. If that takes off and drives the cost down we will see a consumer version sooner. The more ways it gets used the greater the need to get it to people.

It will sell for industry and academic uses. After that if companies come up with good ideas that drive income it will get subsidizing just like cell phones.

AR does have the advantage of having better commercial use right now. Products drop in price quickly with economies of scale and having businesses used to paying a premium as well as start-ups will bring the consumer version down in price.

It will still be in the $1000 range but people will spend that. They nearly do on iPhones and iPads. The FoV is the main problem and expense of the glass is apparently the issue there. But again, demand will fix that and version two will...

It's mainly for commercial use right now. People should look at what prices other products start out at. Bluray was $600-800 after the prices came way down. You're also comparing what you are willing to spend with techies. The people who paid $3100 for a Surface Book or the general public that pays $900 for a iPhone XL. There are people with expendable cash.

The problem is given the chip sizes coming this year this is a perfect opportunity for Nintendo to leapfrog the competition. I know they're cheap, but they can be cheap and still boost power well past Sony and Microsoft. You would think they learned from Wii U. This would mean they haven't.

They think their problem was porting. The Wii U was as powerful as the PS3 and Xbox 360. But it was late to the generation. Only Nintendo fans are goi...

Exclusives being available on PC has nothing to do with the next console. PCs of all form factors are getting smaller and more powerful. Consoles will have to have something besides exclusives soon. Not like they make a huge difference when most can't even turn a profit. Phones will have enough power to satisfy the vast majority of the gaming public by the time the next consoles hit in '18-19. Maybe Microsoft is just smart enough to see where things are going and are building their ec...

But if Apple allowed others to use the OS that sold for a reasonable price that might change.

The PlayStation bubble is an amazing thing. Facts can't get in and only delusions can get out.

At least Steve Jobs' reality distortion field was more than set off by his talent.

Butcher the 360 continued to sell well after the launch of the Xbox One. PS3 sales dropped off almost immediately. In reality PS3 probably finished last and Sony stopped producing it because the profits on it are probably still less than on the ps4 with the die shrink. Th...

People keep mentioning the issue of a controller or mouse and keyboard support. Some Sony phones already have both, as some have mentioned. And other cell phones also have keyboard and mouse control. Adding a gamepad is not an issue.

The ability to get a full experience from such a small device eliminates the need for a console at home or means your console can always go with you.

I definitely don't agree with her views on child pornography. I don't think it should be openly available if that is truly her stance. I do question current consent laws in the U.S.. I have no desire to date a thirteen year old or even a eighteen year old. But to pretend thirteen year olds can't consent is a joke.

There was a case a few years ago where a judge gave a man a sentence of a few months for having sex with an underage girl. His reasoning was that it ...

Those are very different things. Two adults can make up their own minds. With adults anything that doesn't hurt anyone else is strictly their business. If you base your views on some religious beliefs than you're way off. The majority of people belong to religions based on the old testament, a book that has some truisms. But has far more things that are simply historical record at best, and rules that are often plain stupid.

In the bible yo...

Ballard there is no reason you couldn't have both elements. The SP is based on WWI and the multi player can be a mix of WWI, WWII and modern warfare.

The lack of tactics would be a part of the gameplay. Some of the tactics used in WWII were developed in WWI by the more forward thinking generals. Because of that a more educated player would learn faster and be successful sooner. The game would have to be a FPS Strategy game. Terrain and weather conditions could be used to make it more difficult. But you could dumb it down and cut off mud pits and body and gas filled mini ponds. That would be insane difficultly. ...

Ice there is a ever increasing number of douches that seems to be born everyday. They hide out on the internet all day hoping to feel better about themselves by trying to make everyone else feel bad. It's that needy guy from your neighborhood on a global scale. It is unfortunate but knowing how desperate they are makes them easy to ignore.

No, set those horses free. With it's current power developers will be limited in what they can do on PS4. Even if the box adds some power if it's not the power of a second PS4 developers will be limited in what can be onscreen. You'll be getting a lot of "experience" games and games literally on rails. Games will try to limit what's on screen with smoke and fog or you'll often be in the air. Any excuse to keep from rendering a huge ...

Nintendo has always been price conscious. Now that consoles use APU the cost of the main two components, CPU and GPU are cut in half. Plus add the move to 14nm that they get to take advantage of from the start. GPUs didn't get to that size until now. The huge cost savings with the massive increase in power efficiency and architecture improvements allow Nintendo to step in now at profit day one plus a power advantage.

If Nintendo goes "cutting edge" on chips t...

Actually after thinking about it a while I give Microsoft a pass really. They have tried to address security issues. Remember at one point they were going to take over security for Windows completely. But there was a public outcry. Some because it's Microsoft we're talking about and they have to be against them. Others because they didn't think Microsoft was capable of handling it. And still others because it would kill their businesses. Symantec and McAfee and others fought Micro...

What their motives are can't be determined until we see what they do next. Security is the most important thing for society as we become more dependent on electronic devices. If they push Microsoft and others to put more effort into security it's a good thing. Microsoft makes 5-8 billion in profit each quarter, they have the money to pay for security advancements.

At the same time Microsoft has apparently made huge strides on security given Windows phone is consider...
