Because when you only play CoD you're only pretending to believe your own comments. If most of those titles even sold five million units there would be some truth to that argument. Given so many never hit a million it's a nonsense argument.
He means in that no one had it. Live was more of a if you build it they will come thing. In some countries now you still struggle to get decent broadband and a reasonable price. That was really the case in the early '00s.
Until next Gen.
Sigrid, the APU AMD is bringing out early next year is going to be base level current console power according to AMD. I do think they are making changes because it should have launched in January of this year so it might be a little more powerful. I also think they will incorporate things from Pro and X into that APU. The APU they launch in 2019 will be closer but at a much lower power envelope. That chip will start a debate about the need for either midrange PCs or consoles. The power on tha...
T might be time to worry if ausgamers are capable of original thought.
Look at movies like Moana, it's not like movie cgi is standing still waiting for gaming to catch up. Gaming is not even close to real time graphics on a level with Disney and Pixar. On and console or PC. If it takes heavyweight PCs with multiple GPUs to get these animations going don't expect consoles to do it. Remember when you see those "Pro" GPUs that cost three times your 1080 it's often four of those in a machine pushing those Pixar graphics.
These sizes will hinder digital sales. This is why I believe the model on digital should be the seller pays for the download. Providers in major cities give you a terabyte of downloads per month. Not everyone has it that good. With so many of the best games releasing in the holiday window it's easy for someone to exceed their limit. Publishers can pay a standard fee to the owner of the cable to cover the cost of any download of their games. That way even if you use a smaller provider they...
People need to stop with the manufacturer won't allow nonsense. That was a lie the first time it was used as an excuse. Strange that they allow it for every company but one.
The level of realism for a game like Grid does create some good moments though. Racing with a friend I was trying to get used to manual and blew my transmission playing around.
Omni, I was on Beyond 3d last night and a thread there reminded me of something. I never took into consideration the difference in the size of cores. Zen is much bigger than Jaguar. Threadripper couldn't work. The chip would be huge. That means fewer per wafer and that dictates cost. Threadripper is overkill anyway. Maybe Microsoft will just do their own CPU based on Zen. Plus who knows where things are going. Having cash available might take AMD back to Skybridge and we could see a x86/A...
I don't know if it will bite him in the end but I don't think they made the best decision. Install base isn't everything. How well would Lawbreakers have done on the Wii? Not a huge shooter audience and even based on percentages it might have struggled.
Going PC and Xbox would have been a better choice because what do PlayStation fans always say, "Xbox is shooters and racers. But shooters sell on Xbox. So even with double the install PlayStation probably do...
Considering Intel had really just been tweaking it's CPUs and renaming them and AMD often rebranded GPUs you can go five years and two generations and get the same CPU at least under a different name.
The GPUs in the Pro and X are next generation, the CPUs aren't. But Microsoft made enough changes to no longer call their CPU Jaguar cores. Time will tell if they really made that many improvements.
I think they'll go back to the previous generation GPU formula. Vega will be cheaper and offer the power they will be looking for. They will add Navi upgrades but I believe Navi will be a brand new architecture so I'm not sure what limits that will cause. But GPUs will be 7nm at that point too so 12 teraflops on the old architecture at size should allow for the sub $150 APU they want. I don't think we will see another console take a loss per unit again.
By 2020 ...
There were too many things Microsoft couldn't have known. I would have gone with Ryzen with four or six core and next to no modifications. But they couldn't have known yields would be so good and the price so low. They could have run into an issue with availability for chips and instead of only having to worry about Sony's needs they would have had to worry about every computer company on the planet. And Enterprise will always win over consoles for a chip company. Especially with ...
Omni, I don't think AMD is running into problems. I think they're tweaking. I think they are taking what they've learned from Pro and X and adding it to Zen+. This wouldn't be the first time. Remember they released an APU based on the PS4 design. I think they are going to use a lot from X.
AMD was supposed to release their APU in the first quarter of this year. Now it's going to be a year late. We know Ryzen yields are great. Vega is late too but the po...
The gaming model will most likely be cheaper. The Frontier edition is for workstations and not optimized for gaming.
The next crash might will likely be far worse than any previous crash because it will most likely be a currency crash. The US has been driving on fumes since the seventies and is long overdue for a major correction. The old empire staple of attack another country to boost your economy is about to run its course.
We're fighting over oil because old money won't accept that it's time has past. The people have gone from not being a part of it to not getting it to n...
Cartoon X will hit it on many games. The amount of GPU power will double next generation. That's a step down percentage wise. But graphically higher resolution won't be the goal next generation, other things will matter more. You really believe graphics can't hit a consistent 4k with six to twelve more teraflops? Of course they can. And with Zen as the CPU 60fps won't be an issue. With AMD needing to produce only one architecture Sony and Microsoft will benefit from the econom...
I believe it'll be the golden age because so many factors are converging. AI, CPU and GPU power. Resolution. Another generation and graphics will mostly be relegated to a side issue. Microsoft and Sony will have consoles pushing 4k/60 on every title. BC won't be something where graphics kills the experience like it can now. Once you hit steady 4k/60 it holds up in ten years or twenty years because graphically we're topping out.
Next generation, maybe the one af...
When Forza was doing damage Sony claimed manufacturers didn't allow it. An obvious lie considering your immediate competition clearly had it. I guess manufacturers told them they could only upgrade the visual models of certain cars too. Just say you're a small team and don't have time or enough people to add the damage. Say you don't have the physics expertise. But don't lie when it's obvious your competition is doing it.
