This was a game that took over 4 years to develop. It cost close to $60 million to make. 1 million in two weeks is bull----. Halo did that in a few hours. It doesn't matter how much the critics like it or the fans, if it doesn't get bought, it's a failure. And Sony can't afford anymore failure. Watch the Sony stock price if the real numbers are really that low. This is business, not fanboy wonderland. This was their last big chance this generation. A morons like HHG can blow all the smoke the...
I'm black, but it doesn't matter what color a zombie is, it deserves to be shot. I'm willing to do the shooting too. When the so called mature people start seeing racism in black zombies, they prove without a shadow of a doubt that they are nowhere near as mature as they think they are. WSJ go back to standing by and watching the American economy go in the tank. You obviously know nothing about economics, and apparently you don't know anything about gaming either.
And for any bl...
It doesn't seem like they did at all. I haven't seen one commercial. And I watch the type of shows you would think the advertising would go with. I've said for sometime Sony has real money problems. I actually look through the annual reports and while they have money, they have 3 times that in debt. And it doesn't look like it's going to change with none of their new titles hitting the numbers they need. I don't believe KZ2 had over a million pre-orders in Europe and I don't believe it has so...
Every COD has looked better than the last. Operation Flashpoint looks better than COD. Fallout 3 looks better than Mass Effect. Unreal looked better than Quake. Technology changes constantly. Developers now would know how to do a lot more with the PS1. Engines allow devs to do more with the power they have. As long as new engines are developed, console will have longer lifespans. People who think the 360 is maxed out are really just saying they can't do any better. It's not the equipment. But...
I think I'm going to stick with circle 2.
We hear the 360 is maxed out every other game. And yet another game comes out that looks much better.
First off, how'd you come up with the name? Playing Home? I'm sure it makes you feel like the last person on earth.
You probably play a lot of LBP too. The game that suckered you into paying $60 so that you could spend hours making your own game. And what's this little thing. If you were a actually grownup you would understand that a company bleeding money can't actually win anything. Why? Well, because if it's a business, you're trying to make money. Not lose billions. And that ...
NPD and several other sources release console sales information each month. Also, VGchartz, while not being the most accurate in there estimations, are not completely off.
Sony needed Killzone to be a major hit, not a really big hit for for a PS3 title. It needed 7 figure sales immediately, not over the course of 3 or 4 months. It needed to boost console sales significantly, not just a minor boost. And like Blu-ray if Sony was really getting a major boost on Killzone as far as c...
For all of the PS3 power, most games look no better than the 360's and they will always be pretty close. I'm so tired of morons saying the 360 is maxed out. They started saying it in year one and better looking games keep coming out. And for all of Killzone's great graphics, it still barely provided any boost to PS3 sales. Get over the slight difference in power. Next month the 360 outsells it by 200,000 again.
Free online just means they don't make the extra several hundred mill...
Won't God of War make system seller hopeful number 8. I lost count at Lair.
But they were completely pro Blu-ray and Sony before the wheels came off. They couldn't say the PS3 and Blu-ray were great enough early on. It would be nice to just see some honest stories from all of the press, and blogs, for a change. But the press has kinda always stunk.
Listening to Mike Ferro is like a runaway 14 listening to a pimp. He'll say whatever the fanboys want to hear. I'll wait for someone with some credibility.
The merging definitely means the company has financial problems. But merging divisions can mean getting rid of administrative people and not as many engineers. Plus, it will save them a ton of money which is something really needs right now. It's ridiculous that Sony has every type of media, but it isn't fully available through all of their divisions. Sony music and movies should be available seamlessly through all Sony devices. All devices should work through each other.
They will work better together. There will be a lot more lay-offs though. They will get rid of redundancies in the divisions. Unless that was already accounted for in the 16,000. It's still amazing to read some of the postings and see how delusional(or ignorant) some fanboys are. Sony releases financial statements like every other company and some people still believe the gaming division is incredibly profitable for Sony. Sony has several divisions that have made a lot more money for them ove...
Maybe you should check the original Bloomberg article. The Games Division is being merged into a new group and therefore is being eliminated. Kaz is not being put in charge of additional units, it's one large group. The other units are also being dismantled and reformed into that larger group. Expect each group to lose items if not whole lines. By the way, Games was one of the unprofitable businesses for Sony. It's 2009, not 2002. That said, it is still a huge vote of confidence and a big pro...
Having divisions separate and sort of competing was good in the past. It helps motivation playing divisions against each other. But the fact is today people expect integration in heir products. A company that has music, movie and music divisions should have unbelievable integration across all platforms. PSN should be turned into a one-stop Sony site for all Sony electronics. You should be able to download music, movies and games across all products. The PSP should be turned into a all purpose...
With the financial market as it is, a company would lean towards the 360 first because it's the cheapest to develop for. Especially for new IP. Bring it out on the 360 and if it's does well, you port it to the PS3. If it doesn't do well , you don't take as big of a hit financially. With the ports to the PS3 getting much better, if it's late on the PS3 it doesn't matter. If it's good, it will sell a million or two more on the PS3 too. The PS3 and PC would just provide extra revenue.
There they go again.
What they are saying is that Microsoft made more money with Live than all the profit made by Sony's gaming division last quarter.
Unfortunately, I think Sony needs to just except third place and mediocre sales. No PS3 title is going to change the weak sales. So many were supposed to. The PS3 is DOA from the standpoint of Sony being the powerhouse in gaming. That is a thing of the past. They should just reload and wait for the next generation to try again. Even if they finally catch up in install base with the 360, it will be financially moot. The Gaming division will be a part of Electronics and it will have lost billio...
