In number of employees and size sure. But Sony and Microsoft are companies meant to make money. And Microsoft is , has and for the foreseeable future will run circles around Sony when it comes to profit. 11% down when you are making over 16 billion in profit makes you much bigger than a company that looks like it will actually lose 1-2 billion dollars like Sony.

They paid 50 million for the DLC. At $20 each they only need to sell 2.5 million copies combined. Considering you don't need to own the original to play this(you can borrow a copy so that it shows up on your 360), you have to be crazy to believe that they won't hit that number between the two.

Lots of people will buy a $20 game. And considering many games don't give you more than 10 hours of game play for $60, this is a bargain. Plus there are 3 or 4 million more 360 owners now ...

Actually the cuts in personnel might be about making room for a price cut. At this point Sony might be in all or nothing mode. They could cut people to offset the cost of a price cut on PS3, Blu-ray or both. Right now they are swimming upstream. In order to get going again, they might have to continue to take a loss on either or both to get the price down to a point where more people will buy their products.

A $299 PS3 would outsell the 360 or bring it closer to 360 numbers(even ...

Actually the PS3 did cause the loss. If there was no PS3 there would be a profit. The PSP and PS2 make money on the hardware side as well as software while the PS3 loses money on the hardware.

Sony makes a misleading statement(they knew the reasons for the O.Xbox's Short lifespan) and like they expected, fanboys adopted it as fact. It's odd though that people make a big deal out of buying a new console every five years. For one thing it's only if you choose to. Second, if the 360 sells 50 million machines, you are a fool to believe it won't receive software support for the next 5 years. As strange as it may seem, software companies like money. But what's really odd is that some of ...

First off, this article is by Mike Ferro. I didn't actually even look, but I saw the name of the site and read the headline and know it's that A$$-Clown. If MS gave Square a big check, Square could have used the money to start making the 360 version while still finishing the PS3 version. But they didn't. Which leads me to believe Square needed the money to actually help with finishing the game. Square has claimed for sometime now that the game is nearly finished. I guess they're just holding ...

The recession didn't "officially" start until Spetember. Sony was having financial problems long before that. Samsung, Sony's business partners in LCD televisions seem to growing in leaps and bounds. They're in the same economy. They pay the same to make TVs. Why are they making huge profits will Sony is in a steep decline. It might be sound business decisions. Even Toshiba doesn't seem to be experiencing wild swings up and down. But Sony has been dropping in rank the last few years...

Many seem to think Sony is the only company that restructures contracts and cuts manufacturing cost. the 360 has had several rounds of cuts and is making a profit even on the arcade. The normal reduction in cost for a console is 25-30% the first few years. Microsoft has had three rounds, in the summer of '06,'07 and '08 including die shrinks on the GPU and CPU. Don't let them fool you, they are making a nice profit on the Pro and Elite while breaking even on the Arcade. But you can't blame th...

They look exactly alike. Hasn't always been the case but PS3 owners might be able to mark this as the game that put the multiplayer curse behind them. If EA can do it, anybody can.

I can't think of 32 that should be games that should even be in development.

Don't worry about the disagrees. By the time the fanboys figure out all of Sony's bs PR, it will be too late. Or maybe one of them will read a financial report. But then no one thought AIG, GM or JP Morgan could fall either.

He has pretty much always been full of it. He's just a PS3 fanboy. Unfortunately he has enough PS3 fanboys to tell him he actually knows what he's talking about so he continues to write is crap.

Hopefully for Sony all the fanboy dreams come true. If this game goes LBP and the sales are slow and an extra million PS3s don't sell next month, Sony's stock price is going to fall through the floor. And all the denials in the world won't be able to keep Sony from cutting people and par...

This will all work itself out in the next year or so. Just like the economy. They should just come out and say the fundamentals of the Blu-ray economy are strong.

Actually we have the people in place to have the best offense in the league over the next ten years. We just need some tweaks on D and we will be dominating the league. Remember you heard it here first.

@Unicron

Then they should stop pretending Blu-ray was needed this generation. Textures could have been compressed and cached to the HD since all PS3s have one. Uncompressed sound wasn't needed because the vast majority of the users don't have the equipment(or ear) to ...

Still stuck on launch price. Still $460 is too much for one game. I mainly like shooters and I can get everything I want but Killzone on the 360 I already have. If only they had left out that stupid Blu-ray player I would probably have a PS3. Now I'll just wait for it to hit $199.

But that is the problem, there used to be a time when people kept their money in utilities to be safe. They were stable because people would always need water and power. It's no longer about sustainability, it's about constant growth(which is impossible). Not being a reliable source of a dividend, but a ever increasing dividend. You can't be comfortable, you can't even be well off. You gotta be filthy rich. Which leads to a totally unstable market because as we have seen over and over, everyo...
