I'm not sure the crowd that plays that game downloads that many things illegally. Everyone I know that plays it has pretty good jobs and only use their computers for work otherwise.

They can't believe this can be done. I don't remember this same doubt when the EyeToy was released. Funny though, the EyeToy can do most of these same things. As soon as Sony starts showing that the same doubters will suddenly become believers. We've even seen the Wii-mote reworked to do motion sensing by a guy in his apartment. But because it's Microsoft that took it in this direction instead of Sony you can't except it.

And why is it always the same sources that have the doubt...

The fact that it either needs calibration or is not as accurate as it needs to be means it needs work. Funny that Sony fanboys can't come to grips with the fact that this can work without a device in your hand. They seem to have no problem believing Image Metric can use cameras and software to create full facial animations for many Sony games without putting dots on the actor. Some companies are ahead of others.

If more people had that much character there would be far fewer problems.

But GT hasn't done anything amazing over the years. It's the same game with better graphics and more cars. Forza has changed things. And it doesn't take 5 years to get to market. It will be six if Forza lives up to the bragging because they will try to add roll-over to GT.

The thing is when Sony said the reason they didn't have damage was because of the manufacturers, they lost a lot of credibility. A lot of other games have damage, the manufacturers would be fools to not allow i...

The reality is the moment, 2:37, where the left hand doesn't seem to have "touched" the water with the right timing can be explained. It's not as if this is real water and she is really touching it. It's the computer and cameras interpretation of what took place. So if the computer and the camera misrepresented her hands move forward(it was moving forward when the water reacted), that is a calibration problem. Not proof that it is fake.

And as far as the Milo character...

What information did you and no one else receive on the cost of the MS device. All of the technology in the device has been in the market for ten years at least. Plus the company MS bought recently with everything but the mic said the tech would be no more than the EyeToy. Considering what MS paid for the company and what that small company could offer it for, I'm sure MS could do the same. MS just improved on the programming for their system.

You could release it anytime you want, but you're going to wait another year. Most games take just two years to develop, but you have a product that is basically finished, but needs another year of polish. That sounds stupid. Just admit it's not ready and you need a four or five year development cycle. Put your ego aside and admit the competition has thrown the gauntlet. It shouldn't take an entire console life-cycle to release a damn game.

It could be used on a lot of $60 games. The voice could be used to speak to players in the game. Motion detection could be used to stop or direct computer players in tactical FPSs. The Milo(Dimitri) AI could make RPGs much better and more responsive. Voice could also be used to choose weapons instead of buttons. That would work wonders for RPGs. No more clunky item menus. I don't like it for driving, but it would work well for other games. But on driving games the one use I would like would b...

coming from EA. A company that has sat on their arses for most of the years they have been on top while everyone else innovated. They finally started to move when they realized the loses were going to keep piling up.

I can't believe some still believe that nonsense about the manufacturers not allowing damage. Everybody was allowed to do damage but Sony. BS.

BS "article" too. Sony has not confirmed damage.

This is the more realistic game period. GT5 doesn't have damage. You always lose points when your "sim" has bumper car physics.

If this is an AI on the level he's saying(and was shown) this could be amazing for games like Fable, Mass Effect and other RPGs. With voice recognition you could give a computer player an item(say a weapon or money) and just reach out and say take this gun. The computer player then reaches out and get the gun. You could do hand signals in tactical shooters like Rainbow 6 and Ghost Recon. Scanning in a far more accurate face for Rainbow this time. When you use the in the car mode in racers, yo...

DD will still be awhile? Even Sony doesn't believe that. They say plainly in the video that their strategy will be a combination of disc and DD. For all content. They acknowledge that a growing number of people want DD. The speaker talked about being on the leading edge of what's next when talking about DD. The PSP Go is just one more step. They now offer games, music and movies as DDs. Blu-ray is a niche product.

And if most of the people you know don't have internet or a compu...

I'm no longer amazed that people buy into the hype. The reality is that Blu-ray is struggling to hold 10% of the market. Three years in. The prices are still too high and other things like DD are catching up without the advertising and full studio support. These articles only come out every few months. But they are based on reports that are released every week. Don't you think it's odd that they don't do these articles every week. Even more odd is that Sony has allowed actual numbers to be re...

While I would never buy the games geared towards the Wii, it is a huge market. If more people get into gaming, it benefits the hardcore gamer. Nintendo is making a lot of money, but they still are likely to make a new unit that has more capabilities. While that might slow down the number of people who buy hardcore games from them, it will give them the money to win those people back later. Expanding the market is never a bad idea.

It also adds a new way of interfacing that will ...

You might be right. Blu-ray might be here forever. just the other day I had a hard time choosing between the cd and 8 track versions of the new Eminem album.

I love HD. I just refuse to be taken in by lies and hype. I stick with cable and wait for DD. I won't waste the money to buy equipment that might be done in 3 years. Broadband won't be a problem forever. In my area, it's not a problem at all. In the suburbs I will be moving into, the low-end Verizon Fios is 25 Mbs. That's with 5Mbs up for under $40. DD is here for me today. Sucks to be you with your limited options.
