This is why phones are a threat. Those are huge gains. Gaming is business and apparently the profit margins are great in the mobile market.

500gb drive and 490gb of mandatory installs.
Persistantthug, I think Sony fans don't care about exclusives. If exclusives mattered so much. Playstation would be the number two console at this point. The Xbox was a faulty machine for the first three years. 30% + failed. Not many exclusives. Pay to play online. Xbox started with a 5 million headstart. They are still two million ahead after almost 6 years.
So those exclusives account for 500,000 extra consoles a year. Or was it the Playstation brand that did that? Or ...
plmkoh, you should check previous statements from Howard Stringer from when he was the CEO of Sony. His biggest complaint was that division competed with each other more than they worked together. They bought technology from others for use in their products that had similar offerings from other divisions. That is one of the things he fought to change and is why the gaming division is part of a larger division now. And it's one of the things Kaz has vowed to continue. The current re-struct...
There has been talk over the least few weeks of someone acquiring EA. I think the better acquisition is Sony. And the perfect company to do it would be Apple. They have over 100 billion that they need to do something with. Even after they give a huge amount of it top shareholders, they will have more than enough to buy Sony.
Sony already has several businesses that Apple wants into or already is into to an extent. Buying Sony would give them a firm footing in all of them. Mo...
Actually I think overall Sony is less than Samsung at this point. The problem for Sony is that Samsung is the quality and performance leader now. Samsung TVs have a better picture. Sony has to drop down in price to compete with the Vzios and LGs. They can't compete with Samsung right now. Concentrate on R & D until they can bring OLED or something better than Samsung to the market.
They also need to accept that they invented the personal music player, but that market b...
The reality is this has everything to do with gaming. Gaming was Sony's best division for some time. That changed with Ken Kutaragi's grand plan for the PS3. 5+ billion in losses has left Sony in a position where they couldn't respond properly to changing situations.
Just like the losses in other divisions are hurting the gaming divisions ability to advertise and drop prices now. And not only do they need to keep posting these articles, gamers need to start readi...
Yeah, cause if you have cancer in your lungs it has nothing to do with your heart.
MS is trying to make money. Not appease fanboys. Even with three years of faulty hardware, a small fanbase and "no exclusives", they remain the second best selling console. And they are still in position to win the sales title again this year. Exclusive don't always sell and surely don't move many consoles. Ask Sony.
*sigh*
lastdual,
Would you please stop pointing out the truth about things. If they believe things should be free they can. And if people don't have the money for a console up front then screw them. They should just get a PS3.
?
Well said Titanz. But you do know they are called fanboys for a reason. The truth has nothing to do with their opinions. Just look to the latest exclusives arguments even after inFamous and Twisted Metal sales. Because we all know that exclusives matter.
Unless the company was trying to sell games.
I think more cores will make a difference in this and future generations. We are reaching a point where the graphics are as good as they need to be. Physics and AI are the more important things to shoot for. So unless one of these consoles is going to be using something like AMD's HSA, the amount of cores will be important.
HSA allows the CPU and GPU to work together. Te GPU acting as a far more powerful CPU for physics and AI. MS and AMD work closely together so I belie...
But Sony does have the most exclusives. And some of them actually sell. That new battle royale game everyone is talking about is going to be awesome. It will probably only sell half a million copies. But it is exclusive and that means it's great.
Forget this nonsense. I'm going to play Twisted Metal....did anyone hear a tree fall?
Since when does Communism mean having no boss. People call way too much Communism. Plus I'm surer some are making a lot more money than others.
Sider you missed the part about branding. They need as much help as they can get fending off Apple. Start kids at a young age on the Android platform would help Google. Nintendo doesn't need to make a huge amount off of it. It's no different than HBO on the 360. MS is paying HBO to stream their service. But it brings users to MS. MS makes over $100 on every 360 sold. Nintendo makes a profit on every Wii and they have since launch. I expect the same for the Wii U. That is how Nintendo ...
"Problem is the Wii U pad is dependent on the console as far as we know."
As far as we know. But if their OS could work hand in hand with an Android tablet, they could extend that console to the road through wi-fi. They could also have games that work on both platforms that would allow parents to get a quick game of Uno or whatever with their kids. That would keep the Wii theme of bringing families together going with the Wii U.
Nintendo would profit the same way any other retail outlet would. A small portion of every item sold through their device.
The reality is that businesses are beginning to understand that they need to expand their user bases in new ways. Android on Wii U would be a new way of advertising and pinpointing a specific audience for certain items. It also get the Android name into the household at a earlier time.
Branding works best when it starts early. Cigarette...
It's not like they could stop it. They are publicly traded. The stockholders will take an offer if it is high enough. Nexon could buy all of the available stock and become the biggest holder and force the issue from the inside. This is what poor management does to public companies. EA isn't really the worse company in the world. But they have weakened themselves by being greed and now have to suffer for it.
I find it odd that lack of games is being used as the reason for the Vita not selling. Before launch the number of launch titles was supposed to be one of the selling points. It was touted as one of the best launch line ups ever.
I didn't need a CoD killer. That game died to me years ago. I haven't bought the last two and barely played the on before it.
