I'm sorry but exclusives seem pretty meaningless for the most part. Sony had six major exclusives released last year and the 360 outsold the PS3 for the year. There may have been a time when they mattered. But not now. Except for maybe Nintendo. But they are not trying to compete for the same market.

It may be best on the PC, but it sells a lot more copies on the consoles.

It doesn't sell a lot more on the consoles?

OK, I read you're follow up comment. You're ten right?

What I think is even more funny is that an article like this even comes out after we all learned that Sony demands the rights to the IP. Which is far worse. In fact, paying for exclusivity is similar to buying developers. And it also allows the developers to almost guarantee they will bat least break even.

You are obviously from the future. Because it will.

If AMD gets their HSA technology working right, Phys-X won't be missed. Since all of the console makers are supposedly using AMD, it seems that people believe they do.

I'm not sure why this is considered a coup either. AMD has lost a few executives lately, but that could mean what they are doing with their APUs has made them highly sought after. Or it could be that they have screwed the architecture up. If they screwed it up, their loss might not be that big a deal. If it is great, it's not like they get to take the technology with them. APU's are going to be the near future of computers. But I'm not sure how much he will be able to help Nvi...

CGI, you would be wrong. I couldn't care less about Kinect. Don't own one and I am not interested unless they develop something better than a remote. I was simply pointing out the hypocrisy. Notice the first sentence were I reference his previous bragging about Sony exclusives. Sorry that got too complicated for you.

Microsoft wouldn't be losing money. The cost of the Arcade should be no more than $130 at this point. Or they could just match and continue to bundle. Either way Sony has no hope of moving out of last place this generation. The only way they will come close to that is if Nintendo turns out to be stupid enough to launch the Wii U with current gen power. Then Sony will be third but not last.

Strongman aren't you one of those Sony exclusives guys. Considering the install base, most of thos Kinect games still outsell most of those Sony exclusives. Kinect is limited right now because of the parts and USB1.0. Both things are set to change. Most tech kinda sucks when it first comes out. Just pretend they are Sony exclusives and they will sell over time.

And at least they're cheap to make.

5079d ago 1 agree11 disagreeView comment

They don't need another 360. The current one only cost them $150-70 to make now. They could drop the price of the Arcade to cost with the release of Halo 4 and still outsell the PS3.

First things first. Suddenly Pachter is making sense? He gets railed on for everything that comes out of his mouth normally. All of a sudden he's has such sage thoughts.

Anyway, I think this will be good for Sony since it will allow the PS3 to continue to sell well after this year. But I'm not sure why how big the impact will be. Microsoft could easily match or beat that price. But the biggest thing is that this generation is over. No one is releasing too many games. ...

A complete waste of peoples time and money. If they don't stop the NFL exclusivity deal, you ignore the whole point of the suit in the first place. Any judge that approves this deal should be removed from the bench. If they approve it and don't end exclusivity for the NFL license they are saying that EA didn't do anything wrong but we'll let them pay millions anyway. It's either kill the contract or let it stand.

Somethings got to give on one end or the other. As the cost of development goes up, developers have to save somewhere. Digital provides a big savings. They have to keep making disc for regions of the world that don't have decent Internet. But in areas where a large number of their consumers are digital might be the way they have to go. So we have to accept higher prices, a few engines license for most games or digital. Maybe they will sell Limited Edition copies with disc for $10 more. Pe...

Developers had the power when making games was cheaper. Look how many go out of business every year. Unless you're one of the major companies, you usually need help. That's why Sony can get away with demanding the IP. If they had any power, no one would ever give up ownership of their products.

No one is saying abandon the current generation. But it's time to have better machines to work with too. It's best to have two generations going at the same time. One ...

Sony fanboys need to come back with some arguments that make sense. They go on and on about exclusives and the 360 outsells the PS3 last year during which Sony releases 6 major exclusives. Then they like to go on and on about MS only concerned about casual games. Ok, MS sells a lot of casual games. Kinect and it's games sell well. Not sure how that's bad. But here's the thing, if you look back over all of 2011 and the top 10 best selling games, 7 or 8 of them are on the 360. And m...

@Abash

Look at all of those expensive exclusives. And all of those corporate losses. And that lack of a major difference in console sales. And those low sales on those exclusives.

Yeah, Microsoft should definitely stop selling consoles.

That's the thing Blitz. Apparently most consumers don't consider it a great value right now. Consumers are weird. They will pay far more than an Apple product is worth or any Smartphone, but then sometimes they won't pay for something that is more than worth it. The Vita is overpriced. It only cost $169 to make so $250 is too much.

But bundling may be a good answer. They should start with those overpriced storage cards. Bundle a 32GB card with all of them. Espec...

I don't blame them for complaining. If there were only consoles it would be one thing. But there are PCs for everyone to look. It's obvious the standard is lowered by the consoles when the cycle lingers this long.

And it's not just about innovation. I agree that they need to be more innovative. But the ability of the current machines isn't as high as promised. And the generation being stretched this long only benefits the console makers. Sales of consoles hav...
