That sounds like a Steam problem more than anything. All of your information should have been transferred to your new account. Or there should have been an easily accessible license transfer. But this is why it helps to pay a fee. Then a company is obligated to assist you more quickly.

@nukeitall

Always on isn't required for this. Just the connection to a screen name or account.

I'm sure some don't like Sony. We know that Linger wasn't a Sony exclusive because Sony wanted to own the IP. Sony admits that many developers aren't crazy about that idea. I'm surprised Sony gets any exclusive Indies considering they want the IP.

Gamers need to focus more on getting Bobby Kottick fired.

Article number 18 on why always online is a bad idea. We're getting there.

They could just let it work like it was on PC where you had to link with another person. It's better to have it organized for you. No one really liked the way it was done on the PC but some seem to think the companies should cover the cost of providing the online. What happens when a game doesn't do well. Or the company needs money for the next game. At some point some of the pressure has to be taken off of the developer.

You can't have innovation, new IPs, long ...

Gamers want media options. PS3 users seem to want them more than anyone based on the amount of time they spend streaming shows and watching Blu-rays. Servers cost money. I've never understood why people think that should just be given to them. Besides Sony convincing them of that. Something Sony clearly regrets since they made PSN+. MS and Sony spend millions running those servers. Look at the poor job EA does with it's servers just to save money. People should expect to pay for what ...

It's hard to understand when you're getting an allowance. They'll start to get it somewhere around 23 or 24 when some bank raises their interest rate to 9% or more on a school loan.

We need more crowd funding and fewer publishers.

Maybe they should just call it Silver+ so people will feel better.

That may be true, but we need to see the content first. Many of the hits that get the ratings on TV now can be done by anybody. AMC isn't considered a network powerhouse. Or the History Channel either. But both have had several major hits that out did shows for the major networks. People are no longer locked in on the majors so that means it's open for everyone.

But people need to forget about free online. Sony is trying to figure out how to get people to pay so I'...

@Bar_Brothers

You are so right. There is no way a company the size of Microsoft can make games, software, original Tv content and other things too. Funny others haven't focused on that. You would think more people would say that. If Microsoft wants to do original content they better hire more than the 65,000 people they already employ.

I don't know how bad a working environment can be but I doubt it can be worse than having to sell the rights to your work. I'd rather retain my rights. Sony demands rights for some games. Nothing could be worse than that. Some studios might only have one major hit in their existence. Imagine if the makers of Minecraft had been a Sony exclusive. They would be kicking themselves.

Everything first person will chase a lot of casual people away. This sounds more like a hardcore racing game in many respects. It's crazy how many people spend tons of time making paint schemes and other car enthusiast things in Forza. I've heard some say they only paint and never race. Car culture is hardcore to many. Even if it's in between in it's physics, adding other things for car people might see it find a place in the racing genre.

Much more than that. But I'm waiting for number 23 before I make a real comment.

Xbox 360 mini is a lot like the PS2 slim. A low cost device with some added multi-media features to extend the life of the console. It will probably support Kinect 1.0. If this is true all of the "Microsoft will drop support for the 360 once they launch the next Xbox" people can go find a new complaint now. That complaint seems to be dead now.

Based on some of the system designs their will be an optical link for audio.

Automatically turning on the console doesn't seem like it would be that hard to add. iPads can be used as cable remotes and I assume that means turning the box on and off.

Decrypt I think you're underestimating market ups. Retail prices and wholesale prices are very different. AMD has to make a profit, the parts manufacturer has to make a profit. With the consoles they are basically a hired gun. Consultants. They are also licensing their tech. Sony and MS then have to take the designs out and get them made themselves.

The BC add-on thing is interesting. If it's possible that it's a 360 CPU and it can add that ability, could it also be possible to add an additional GPU. There has been talk of upgrading the next Xbox and talk of games that were "forward compatible". That would be a nice feature. If someone bought a cheaper second sku, it could be upgraded later to a full featured console.

When you're in competition you keep as much as you can secret so that competitors don't steal your ideas.
