Live streaming was done on Xbox a long time ago. PGR did it. Much further back than two years. So was uploading videos, which was done on computers over a decade ago. Falcon 4.0 did it. Often technology is developed by a third company and licensed to a bunch of competitors.
@Mr_Writer85
Pimping gamers for hits on your site is a thing now. Gamers made EA the worst company in America while unemployment, foreclosures and corporate crime are at a all time high. Fanboy attitudes make for easy marks. Non-gaming sites will continue to use gamer because gamers allow it and because in the business world gamers are in that category that spends a lot of disposable cash. Even if you have a site that gamers won't spend on, your hits will show an advertis...
Deebo
Yeah cause movies haven't been doing this for a few years now. Some using Silverlight. A Microsoft technology.
@Jeff
It's not two different consoles. It's one. It's the same as a cellphone sales model. Unlocked it will be the higher price. With a Live subscription and always on for two years it's locked . Once the subscription is over the console is freed from always on DRM and can play games offline. That would make the always online rumors make sense. It's opens it up to more people. But that Live subscription would have to be really low to make it worth it. Then...
@AKS
Read the part where I said for research. It would be for compute.
If the architectures were really different again I'd agree with that. But this gen will have very similar tech. Ports will be easy so there will be no reason not to support all systems with comparable power.
If that is your headline. One reason your article has already failed.
@Muerte2494
Next gen machine are supposed to have 64 players online. He's wrong on 3 and yes 4 is just stupid. Plus we have yet to see if the other problems are resolved. If nothing else there will be a sustained 30fps.
Reynod how does that 5760*1080 look on that 23" monitor. Kinda like 1080p huh.
But Jeff there will be systems that run Titan in Sli. I've already heard someone talk of three Titans in a machine. For research though.
@Xyla
The things that you wrote about are great. But, they are not things that Sony developed. They are a part of the AMD roadmap for their APUs. These things would have happened if the PS4 was using AMD and will be features of the next Xbox too. In fact AMD and Microsoft work together on these things and have for years.
@T900
While some of the first games will target 1080p 60fps they are not using some of the same things Xyla is talking abou...
@Tetsujin
Fair enough. You want a offline experience and want consoles to focus on that. But companies are going with what is clear the vast majority want. They want chat, movies, music and seemly more than anything Netflix. In fact so much Netflix that streaming Netflix is one of the biggest users of bandwidth on the net.

@Tetsujin
Features like chat and the internet enhance the gaming experience. You need communication in many online games and the connect to play them. And the PS3 being 98% gaming is really naive. Blu-ray wasn't for games. It was for movies. DL sizes on PSN prove that. PS3 had a browser long before the 360. The PS3 also offers movies and music. It was advertised as only doing everything. Are you really just repeating what you've seen others post. It's completely u...
Original TV programming. Who knows. Maybe they make the next game of Thrones or Walking Dead.
@iNFAMOUZ1
MS is trying to do what any smart business would. Expand there opportunities. More services increases the install base and improves the chance to sell more copies of any given title. It's simple business. Get eyes on your product in order to push all of the things you have to offer.
Oh no. The slow people have always been here.
Also on the PC front. Microsoft abandons games and is focusing more on productivity software. And jpegs. And Twitter. And Mediaplayer. That's why PC games look so bad and there is so little variety.
Another rumor on the internet is that Microsoft will block shooters on the next Xbox so they can concentrate on Kinect titles. They will also be blocking racing games. Unless they use Kinect. Because there is no way a machine can do more than one thing. And if you're aba...
Yeah. I'm actually hating the direction they are going on some things. Dumervil should have been re-signed. No way should they have ever switched from zone-blocking. I mean, look at what Shanahan has already done in Washington running the ball. And what is the problem finding someone in the middle of the defensive line. And I'm not , and never have been a huge John Fox fan. Too conservative and it bit us in the a--. Maybe for a SB.
One more always on article before we reach the magic number of 500. Sad to see a business website that isn't mainstream pander for hits.
No DeShun. Don't fall into the mimic for hits trap. You're better than this.
Only Toshiba was willing to commit to Tegra 4 at a conference for companies looking for a SoC for their devices. Nvidia has moved on to the Tegra 4.1 and now Tegra 5 so quickly because apparently everyone liked chips from other companies better. Tegra 5 is supposed to be the first Tegra to support Cuda and should be much more powerful. Plus the bigger companies are going to do their own chips. MS and Apple have already been doing that. I believe Faysal is right about Samsumg saying they will ...
