Always on should never have anything to do with SP. It should only deal with MP games. This whole debate will take care of itself in time. With MP games it doesn't matter because it is obvious you have a connection. But if it does apply to SP, low install bases and sales will quickly fix the problem.
As for the complaints that not everyone has Internet. In most industrialized nations I'm sure most at least have DSL or some kind of connection. Always on doesn't me...
The reality of blocking offline use is that it degrades the value of the product so much that no one would do it. MS says they have 46 million Gold subscribers, but they've sold 76 million consoles. Blocking offline use may kill 30 million sales. No one would do that.
I think that online may register a game for consumers. And it may be a way to keep games from being leaked from developers early. Game can't play until a certain date unless online and won't work unl...
Hicken, it's not called backpedaling. It's called character. When you realize you made a mistake you apologize. One day maybe you will develop some of it.
BTW are you stalking me. You seem to use your bubble to comment on my comments a lot.
No one argues that always on in some instances. Like if it prevents you from playing a game period. But lots of devices are always on and still work when not on thew Internet. Like your computer. You and many oth...
I think people that believe these consoles are going to be extremely expensive to make are thinking retail prices. The leaks show one of the chips or both being ARM chips. In that case you're talking about really cheap chips. The SoC in the iPad 2 cost Apple $15 each. AMD chips will be more. But not nearly as much as what it cost for a separate CPU and GPU at 90nm. These are APUs at 28nm.
The huge cost savings on thew 360 and PS3 after launch come mainly from going from 9...
I think Peter Moore was just saying that gamers are being a little silly when it comes to naming EA the worst company. Companies in the industry he named are so much worse than EA it is no contest. I agree with him. I don't like EA. They have a long way to go to make me buy many of their new games. But they aren't forcing people out of their homes or stealing anyone's life savings. People that think EA is the worst company need to broaden their horizons.
I would ...

I think they aren't commenting because they are more then confident in the machine they have designed. They know gamers will posture more than most and once a better machine launches only the fanboys will continue to hate on Microsoft.
Both consoles are rumored to use the same GPU and CPU but one will be easier to program for. If that is the case it will most likely be the Xbox. Because of DX11 and MS is better at tools than Sony. No one can honestly argue tools.
And fanboys believe every bad Xbox rumor but none that would make it better. Leak after leak shows dual GPUs on the next Xbox. SuperDAE said the Xbox was better. Why don't these people believe him on that. The only leaks we know that are accur...
Punisher if I'm a developer and someone offers me an opportunity to avoid some of the risk involved with gaming I would be thankful. Developers having to be looking at companies go out of business around them and feel as if they are in a shootout. If someone offers a shield you are a fool to turn it down.
"Lol go ahead let Microsoft pay for timed DLC and waste their money. Sony focuses on creating incredible first party studios (Naughty Dog, Polyphony, SSM etc) as well as creating great relationships with other non first party studios (Quantic Dream). "
And losing far more money when their games don't sell.
@Knight
That is what too many don't get. I know they believe they are special to companies but it's always about money. Companies will be good to you if the two issues can coexist. Everyone can agree that a large number of the original 360's failed and are most likely dead. Yet that timed deal for CoD made the 360 version sell more copies. By a couple of million. At ten dollars a copy that is a good business win. The 360 has fewer consoles live. Yet it sold more c...
Microsoft doesn't have as many studios because they were smart enough to see their studios were losing money and shut them down. Only a fool continues in a losing business. If people want a business to stay around they need to buy the products. Constant losses is a dumb business model for any company.
Looking at your history it isn't for for me. But there are a lot of people here that believe those things to be true. Never looking at the big picture and realizing the consequences of that mentality. They believe a company can walk on water as other go out of business for the same things. Sony is no longer the big money making machine it was in the Walkman days.
They never look at things like Kinect Fusion and see what the device is capable of and being geared for. Kinec...
Actually I apologize for the comment. I made it before I looked at your other articles. This being N4G there are way too many sites crowding the space with junk articles. When even Forbes is trolling gamers it's gotten out of hand. It's my fault for commenting without checking out more of your articles.
Another clown that could have cut and pasted any number of fanboy articles and save himself sometime writing. First and last visit to that site.
You might be right about the timing. It might have needed a year or two for a better chip. AMD is moving ahead with their APUs and the Tegra 5 is expected to be much better. Hope they haven't ruined their rep.
I think the middle ground and the key to customer happiness is to not follow the money. If they would pay for enough servers for the launch of their games, they would have fewer problems. If they hire the right writers and not rush games out the door to sell more copies they would probably sell more copies.
Not religious, but love of money is the root of all evil.
They said they would leave blocking used games up to the publishers. People don't like to look at the business side of things, but used games and pirating hurt sales. No matter what Gamestop says. It was crazy to believe both consoles wouldn't have these features. If they are true for one they will come to all. Publishers will go where they think they have the best deal.
It is good to see some people that are usually Sony drones being honest about this.
@decrypt
This is the beginning of a lifecycle. Nobody take full advantage of a consoles ability in the first series of games. Just like this generation, developers will do more and more as they learn the equipment.
Also, let's talk about your friend. Your friend has a $1000 PC he bought in '09. It has a AMD GPU in it two generations older than the one in the PS4. He gets 1080p and 60fps. But you believe the PS4 can't. Based on the closed optimize...
Or at least rumors are hell bent on killing the Xbox. MS hasn't said a thing.
I'm assuming the Arsenal badge means you're in the UK( though I know it doesn't because I'm a fan too-ARSENAL...ARSENAL). I have bad news for you though. Your set-top cable box has been tracking you for years. So has your browser(TOR?). Cellphone and a bunch of other devices.
I don't know the laws in the UK, but I assume you can't just set up cameras in peoples houses. Regardless of the set-up in your public spaces. In the US, that would be totally ill...
