Tear downs don't include some things like advertising and assembly, boxing and others. It's amazing that companies like the Wall Street Journal would let someone publish that doesn't know things like that. Sony's estimates would be a lot closer to right. Even though I would bet they are a lot closer to breaking even than losing $60. Either way, this time next year Sony will be making a profit on every PS4 sold. A huge boost to their bottom line. They should once again be consi...

Someone doesn't know how to do highlights in an article. They basically repeated whole paragraphs.

ThanatosDMC I disagreed with your comment. But I gave you a bubble up for a intelligent comment. After all, this is N4G.

Rider these are also the guys that are actually tech experts. They aren't a bunch of idiots just rambling. They are a credible source when it comes to judging tech. They have far more credibility than any Xbox or Playstation site.

I hear a little jealousy coupled with some mommy issues. Not every parent is indifferent to their kids.

The Pricing on American Internet is so high because there is no real competition. Except for a few markets. Washington DC is one of those markets and Comcast offers 150mbs ans Verizon offers 300mbs.But the country has been divided amongst the companies so that they don't rip each others profits apart. It's the "free market" we hear so much about.

That is why you never cater to such a whimsical audience. They claim they only want one thing. But they usually don't know what they want. You can focus on more than one thing at a time.

@bleedsoe9mm

Launches are usually money holes. This one should be a little different. There won't be huge losses on each machine sold. It's no different than PCs. 15 years ago a computer would have been $2000. You can get one for $200 now. Consoles have advanced to the point where they aren't cutting edge in many ways and they have benefited from advances like APUs that cut cost drastically. Neither of these machines cost $800 to make. They are close to the launch...

Hiring this guy would be pure genius. Yeah, right. While everything in personal or corporate investing says to diversify, he says"Focus on one product". There is nothing wrong with the track Ballmer has the company on. Xbox is more than healthy and growing and it would be stupid to dump it. If anything MS needs to use Xbox as it cutting edge platform. Hold all jokes about upcoming Wii-One version.

MS needs to push further into hardware and use it resources and Xbox...

ISeeDeadPixels44, Nvidia was just a sore loser. Being contracted to design a chip and doing leg work on the design is always a profitable business. Manufacturing cost aren't theirs. Those cost belong to the one who ultimately paid for the design. Add the licensing of some of the proprietary work and it will explain their profits this quarter. Given that they haven't suddenly made huge strides in the PC markets with their own chips. The sudden profits have come from something. Add that...

Your translation missed the point he was making. He was asked what the differences would be for the Xbox One version. He was speaking specifically to the Xbox One. The R & D part would imply they are doing more work on understanding One and has nothing to do with the PS4. If anything I would read that to mean they want to experiment and see what the cloud offers. Or Kinect. It doesn't mean they won't push the PS4 as far as it can go.

sway_z common sense is why you don't trust Johnathan Blow. He has a beef with MS. Would you want a neighbor of yours as the sole witness to a crime you are wrongfully accused of. Of, course not. It's no different than not accepting things at face value when they come from the company pushing the idea. Honesty in business is rare.

When they put up the first screens everyone thought it was her. Then Beyond was announced and they changed the face. So even ND must have thought it looked like her.

@Hicken

So Edonus is wrong because he said Sony lied on stage and changed the next day. But you said Sony DRM was up to publishers months before the conference. So if Sony said months before the conference that DRM was up to publishers, why get on stage at the point when the most people are watching and say there will be no DRM?

Every time the audience is small Sony executives will let a slight amount of honesty slip out. But in front of a huge audience they...

@dantesparda

You're basing everything off of a regular version even though it is most likely a specialized version. I'm assuming, but so are you. Others seem to think it isn't. There aren't any OSs that are full versions of the OS being used. So your inefficiencies probably don't apply.

That's the method I think they should use. Don't give GS any sales. Or fewer sales. I think not allowing sales for one and not others is illegal. But offering a better deal online because it cost them less is not. Steam does so many sales because the numbers are smaller but also because they are all digital. I think most gamers have no idea how much cheaper digital is. It's got to be at least twenty percent cheaper. And the retail cut could go to covering the cost of download limi...

So could you use Twitch and Kinect to broadcast like on public access?

4751d ago 0 agree2 disagreeView comment

Yeah but if he had released it exclusively on PS3 it would belong to Sony now. I'd give up a little money for a game that sold millions and the support it received.

@Utalkin2me

So half of your problem is how it looks. Crashes are something no one can argue with. But bad because of how it looks. And that has been the argument from the vast majority. It's for tablets. I don't like how it looks. Not sure how that makes it bad. And the reality is that tablets are far outselling PCs now, so it's kind of hard to hate someone being forward thinking.
