Also it was one of a few games at the end of a consoles lifespan. People were ready to move on.

Septic. I'm not sure what hard lesson you are talking about. MS invested in a few exclusives that mostly performed well. Sony invested in a lot of exclusives that mostly did average or performed below expectations. Sony had a couple that did well like Uncharted, GoW and Gran Turismo. But Gears outsold outsold most of those exclusives and Forza did too. Most versions of Halo outsold many of those titles entire PS3 series. Like inFamous. SO the only lesson MS could have learned was to conti...

People still forget, and I'm sure Sony wishes they would keep this in mind, that these are companies looking to make a profit. And both are making a profit on gaming. MS hasn't done a 180. They are still making a significant profit on gaming. If you believe they aren't, take off your fanboy hate and use a little common sense.

Just like Sony sees PSN+ as a major source for profit, Live has been that for years. and Live has far more paying customers. 360 has been s...

Spitfire the problem with gaming, though games are still a lot of fun, is that it has become a graphic-whore fest and gameplay mechanics have barely changed. More power and new designs should be leading to better gameplay, more destruction, better AI and more going on in the game. Better looking gets boring after a while. It time for better games.

This is a problem if you have DL limits. In Washington DC they don't seem to enforce the limits because I know I have exceeded them in the past and was never limited or charged. I'm sure that will change as more and more people need more bandwidth.

To me though the solution could come from the software makers side. As we move more toward digital, the console makers could pay a fee to the ISPs in order to exclude their downloads from your cap. The amount they pay woul...

@Angeljuice

Not sure how this confirms Windows is bad. DirectX isn't the only API out there. This only confirms that AMD knows the technology they developed better than anyone else.

If the console already requires every game to be downloaded to the HD then is there really a difference. Besides the re-sale value. I don't sell my games so the Blu-ray drive doesn't matter. I plan to get an Xbox One before this happens but if it happens before it will mean I save $100. And since the digital sales have started to get decent it may be a better route for me anyway.

AMD makes it's APUs with the same architecture but fewer core on the GPU or CPU. I believe that is what he means. As the die size gets smaller, the same tech can be used in a hand held and a console.

AMDs Kaveri APUs have varying numbers of compute core.

http://hexus.net/tech/revie...

It goes down to just two CPU cores and 4 GPU cores.

To be fair Pea, isn't Gaikai about regurgitating everything Sony has ever done.

Backwards comparability. The PS4 doesn't even have it. Beast you're at a whole new low of desperation now. No need to make things up. Just enjoy your console.

For a game like this there is no reason to believe it won't be on the Xbox One. Just because it hasn't been announced doesn't mean it won't be on the console. It's not one of those games that sells 5 million copies so they would be crazy not to include as many consoles as possible. Especially considering the next gen machines have essentially the same architecture.

Not MS developed, buy financially supported by MS. So the idea that MS doesn't invest in new IP is wrong. It's obvious they do. I'm sure Titanfall exclusivity was a huge investment.

If Nintendo releases a new system with twice the power developers will use it. Developers love power and they don't care who gives it to them. And just because they released budget systems in the past doesn't mean they'll make the same mistake. It is the reason they are in their current situation. It's all based on whether or not they've learned their lesson. If they have, they will release a system with more power at a higher price point and it could launch at a higher pr...

The next gen consoles still have a lot of power to be exposed. Comparing them to the Wii U now is unfair. There is still so much to be learned about HSA. This machines have a very different way of working. The Wii U is more like the 360 than Xbox One.

MSs decision to have so much of the available resources partitioned for the OS creates problems. But that will decrease as they come up with more efficient ways of using the OS and better methods on the games side. The Wii U wi...

If Nintendo does release a new console in a couple of years both MS and Sony will behind.

I'm completely shocked they would do this now. The time to do it would have been last year. Maybe they know something ahead of Sony releasing numbers for the last quarter. But the timing is odd. I've believed for a while that Sony should concentrate on the lower end of the TV business where their name would carry a lot more weight over LG and Vizio. And maybe still do a 4k TV. But leave the mid to upper middle range to Samsung. They're losing it anyway.

But I rea...

He can't just drop Nintendo. If they are indeed releasing a new console in the next few years, and that seems likely considering the Wii U sales, it will most likely be a more powerful console than the PS4 and Xbox One. I know, people will disagree that it will be more powerful.

But the reality is they are losing millions because they made a lesser console with powerful machines planed to be introduced by the competition a year later. They were stupid. Only way to say it....

The whole point of same day digital sales is to start the move away from retail. They depend on them no more than PC does. There really is no difference in the the way games are sold and the way they were sold on the PC ten years ago. That is why Gamestop sells used phones and other things now. They know what the future holds. Consoles will soon be based on Steam-like systems too. And Gamestop will finally die a well deserved death. Hahaha.

People act as if these consoles will sit on the shelves forever and never be bought. They were sold to retail and will be sold to customers. If it was a situation like the Wii U initially where no one wanted it, it would be different. And once Titanfall releases, or most likely weeks before, there will be a ton of re-orders.

@Pog

That is the whole point. Gamers whine about choice. But this stupidity of hoping one fails is the very thing that will limit their...

Mikefizzled has a good point about game sales. Sony didn't start making a profit on the PS3 until after 2009. MS has made one on each console for years. Probably back to 2006. Plus they led in sales on many of the best selling titles. Add the ten dollar per copy game sales and the money made on Live subscriptions and MS has made a very good profit on the 360. Contrary to what analyst say. Their talk is about short selling and stock manipulation. Not telling the truth. And sometimes they a...
