Recompiling the game to run on a PS3 would be a pain in the ass. Nothing is remotely similar between the Playstation 2 and Playstation 3 besides the name. It would be much easier to go with software BC through firmware updates. Even if the BC is only 70-80% it is 70-80% more than what those without BC have now. As for PS1 games... well ALL PS3s can play them. Just stick the CD in and have at it.
This is a good one and I would really like a valid response.
What differentiates the software BC units from the non-BC units? Granted they have something in their firmware(?) that allows BC but other than that is there ANYTHING else? The reason I ask is if so that would imply that there is 2 concurrent versions of firmware for the PS3. One for the non-BC and hardware BC models and one for software BC models. AM I correct in this assumption or is software based BC done somewhe...
Coming to a store near you on Christmas 2010!
Seriously. Blizzard has been spending so much time taking care of its' cash cow, aka: WoW, that they have neglected their other franchises. It's not like they don't have the money to hire/pay the resources needed to get it done. I don't expect to see much from Blizzard on D3 for a LONG time.
The links to the videos that SixTwoTwo posted are just plain amazing. I have NEVER seen a game this beautiful on a console, ever. To think that there is still MORE performance that can be tweaked out of the PS3? I can only imagine GoW3, GT5 and future games. Wow just.. wow.
Sure it could!

Sony has been breaking even or even possibly profiting on the PS3 since early 2008. There is an article on Gizmondo, which I am too lazy to find, that was published in Jan. 2008 that stated they were at or near break even on the PS3 then. I can only imagine over the course of 2008 that they have hit the break even or even hit the profitability mark. Granted it may not be a big number, maybe $2 or $3 a console, but in any case it is still profit.
EDIT:
4th OVERALL and 1st out of the PS3 sales is not good?
"The Daily Hotness Write: Expect to see things like the above image plastered all over PlayStation Home, as well as an increasing number of your favorite videogames in the near future."
OK first things first.. DUH! I would hope to see stuff like this all over Playstation Home. It's NOT a game, it is a social networking application based in a 3D world. I want to see ads, virtual stores, theaters, exclusive video game and non-video game related content. As for ads in ...
Hey MS, good luck with that!

^^
uncheck the 720p selection in your vid settings on the PS3 and it will automatically upscale the game if possible.
I am sitting here at work and don't have the ability to watch the vid damnit! You can at least tell me what I am supposed to be denying! Thanks.
EDIT: Proxy FTW! Anyway... slighlty more jaggy at 1080p and some questionable PSN moments other than that identical. I would dare say unless you were staring at stills the jaggie part wouldn't even come into play. I have played through the game and the action is moving so fast most of the times you don't sit still long enough to s...
Holy Crap! I thought I had a nice library with 38!
I agree that Star Ocean is a big franchise but I wouldn't hold out hope. Famitsu rated The Last Remnant a 38/40 and it sold horribly in Japan and shifted next to nothing in consoles for the 360. I am under the impression that the Japanese audience will have a "wait and see" attitude towards any of SE's games from this point on. I believe it was SE's attitude and embrace of going multiplat that caused the Japanese gamer to become more wary or suspect of the products they are puttin...
The PSP is having an incredibly strong year so far. Sales have been tracking higher than anticipated by a lot of folks and I would think that includes Sony's in house analysts. The PS3 seeing a nice boost from PES 2009 as well. So far so good in the and of the rising sun. Now with the holiday season upon us all will be nice to see how well the PS3 does throughout December. All in all good news for Sony.
Is that Sony can do the same thing on their BD players or PS3. All the unit needs is the ability to stream the media. Kinda makes ya wonder about the whole Netflix/360 thing now doesn't it? I can stream Netflix on my Linux box so I don't see the big to do.
1. Get account w/ Netflix
2. Use device capable of streaming video
3. Enjoy!
Am I missing something here?
Sorry on the DMC thing. Wrong column.
DMC 4 for 360 - 1.1 mil / PS3 - 1.25 mil
As for Fallout 3, GTA4 and CoD 4/5
Fallout 3 360 - 1 mil / PS3 600k
GTA4 360 - 6.2 mil / PS3 5 mil
CoD:WAW 360 - 2 mil / PS3 1.2 mil
COD4 360 6.6 mil / 3.75 mil
Again even with the BIG games they still sell very well on the PS3. As for the exclusives some are hit and some are miss. BUT they sell well over time.
Example: Motorstor...
This guys opinion is a complete and utter waste of my time. There now we are even. kthxbye
