Where did all the hate for this game suddenly come from? It's so strange to me. Even poorly reviewed games will get positive previews, but The Evil Within is the one game the press decided to criticize and bash in a preview well before the game comes out.
I think without a subscription service paired with PS+ this is a really tough sell. Renting an old game seems kind of odd to me. Does anyone know if there's an option to purchase the game, like the OnLive service has?
When I was younger and CD stores were still a thing, older CD's from the random bands I used to listen to would cost twice as much as newly released CD's. Why was this? Well, because Music Companies (like Sony) knew that hardcore fans of the band would pay the high prices (sometimes 18 bucks) for a CD. I've been playing as Orchid a lot. I didn't know I'd like her moves so much. I'll be trying to learn Sabrewulf next.
Killer Instinct is a great fighting game. I've been loving it!
I still wonder what this "Arcade Mode" entails. Will we get cutscenes and endings? I sure hope so. I wonder if they'll add Eyedol as a final boss. I mean it's been taking a long time to add this mode if it's just going to be a tournament where you fight the other characters and nothing else.

Agreed, Devs don't want to make 2 versions of their game just to make it VR compatible. Even the Thief demo they showed at GDC had to be specially developed for VR. They didn't just make Thief 3D and work with VR all of a sudden, it was just a slice of gameplay. Not sure if even FB can influence devs enough to do this, unless FB snatches up a dev studio too.
Right now I've got a hybrid digital/disc thing going, but I'm warming up to an all digital future. Just give me some sales! This weekend Tomb Raider is dropping to 30 bucks for the digital version. I'm gonna be all over that deal.

FB must have a ton of money to burn. Seriously, will they ever recoup the money spent in this aqcuisition? I'd be mad if I was an investor. I can see Oculus Rift selling maybe 2 million units, tops. People complain about wearing 3D glasses in movies, they're gonna hate the giant goggles strapped to their head with Rift.

This game looks great. I have a lot of games to play right now but this will be on my list to buy in the future. Good review too.
However many polys he was, Kratos looked amazing in GoW3. Of course it also helped that the lighting and texture work in that game was so good.
Pre-rendered, but they're rendered in-engine, so it looks just like the game's graphics during gameplay.
They do this so that while the cutscene plays, they can load the next section of the game. I think it's a really good system that more games should utilize to cut down on load times.
Definitely underrated. At first I wasn't really impressed with the combat until I realized it wasn't about speed, it was about timing. The combat is like Batman Arkham Asylum, except with more difficulty and less hand-holding (in a good way.) Once I got the timing down my enjoyment for the game grew exponentially. Combine that with the amazing visuals and the great online mode (also VERY underrated) and you have a great game. I'm really hoping for a sequel.
The characters in the RE games were detached and emotionless too when it came to scares.
Remember Jill being freaked out when the ceiling was about to crush her? Or when she ran by those windows and the dogs jumped out? Oh, that's right, the character on-screen didn't even flinch, it was us players that tensed up!
I agree that the detached character criticism is weak and unfair.
