well congratulations Playstation fans. You got yourself a good game here. And during that extra year they even had time to update the textures, bonus.
oh, and there I was thinking you were an intelligent fanboy. You see an article on the 360 side bursting with good news about the 360 that Sony couldn't dream of topping right now, so you dig up a speculative article about the whole 1080p thing again to try and distract everyone from the good news.
In answer to your article, give it up. Sony is the one who lied here, they said that the PS3 was all powerful because it could do 1080p, so Microsoft got tired of the mud flinging an...
This is exactly what i've been saying. I just grow so tired of how (fellow) British people deal with purchases like this. Thankfully people did point out that the price was a bit much, but the number of people who are buying the PS3 without even knowing what it can do is still unsettling. Fair enough, not everyone likes the wii and 360, but I would not be bothered if they gave a valid reason for wanting one. Xbox games are £60??? A "sophisticated piece of kit"??? Since when did...
too right mate. I use my Hifi system for sound, too. With Digital base boost on the bullets could really kill me, it's got kick.
And the monitor cost me £150, is 19" and widescreen. With a setup like that I don't see me needing an HDTV for years.
DJ, I don't get what you're saying here. The Gears of war team, COG I think it's called consists of four guys, you and Dom being important, the other two being extra. I think sometimes you get a different number of extras. Where did you get 8 from?
unless you still think the game can only handle 8 guys including enemies. That was just a fanboy rumour, they add as many enemies as would be challenging. the console can handle it just fine.
I would count on it being cheaper in america than it is in Japan. The $499 version of the PS3 cost a comparative $513 in Japan before the price drop. So if the Japanese are getting a comparative $75-$80, logic says you'll be charged less in America. Personally I don't think Sony are dumb enough to charge $80 for a game.
price drop will not happen in the US. Probably wont happen in Europe. Sorry. HDMI applies globally though.
It has got nothing to do with racism, it's national pride. Japanese consumers trust Japanese companies more. It's hardly about the games, that might explain away a small loss of popularity, but nothing as extreme as we are seeing. Quite simply, the japanese are holding out for the PS3 launch.
Should Microsoft stop supporting Japan? Course not. As long as there are fans there they deserve the courtesy of console support. But MS need to stop sucking their collective genitals. It'...
well, the problem is, everybody wanted a cheaper alternative to next gen. The problem isn't with the core 360 being better value, the problem is the wii is not a next gen console but is asking for near next gen prices. The point was to pay substantially less and avoid the next gen arms race with a fun alternative. Don't get me wrong, the Wii looks great, but I have to see how much it will cost in GBP. I wont pay more that £140 for it.
This is great, but as far as actually playing games goes it doesn't mean anything. This wont give the DVD extra storage space or anyhting like that. Not that the DVD even needs extra storage space though.
It does mean the POSSIBILITY of a 360 game combined with an HD-DVD movie/content disk, if they have the money to blow.
I'm interested though, very cool development.
that's actually a very nice idea!
Now you see, personally I don't get that. Does a black console really make that much difference? I know I hate the white pad, the white gets really dirty and you feel a bit disgusted holding it unless you give it a bit of a clean, but the colour of the console just doesn't bother me.
Anyway, I don't think Microsoft will release a black console, that would look like they trying to be like the Playstation.
I'd ask you what makes you feel so sure, but we all know the answer.
There's no shame in it. You WANT Microsoft to make the 360 HD-DVD so you can justify Sony moving from DVD9 to Bluray. Because then it will prove DVD is really ineffective.
Look elsewhere man. The only justification you'll get for buying a PS3 is the gaping hole in your bankaccount. Just try and ignore the millions of people laughing at you, because preaching to them wont drown it out.
Seriously doubt it. They already said they are only looking to back the winning side of the format war, and seeing as they have already sold 5-6million units without HD-DVD drives, they aren't going to suddenly say you need a new drive to play future games. It'll kill them.
So, a whole new console just to play HD movies? Doubt it. Releasing a whole new unit with built in HD drive and an HDMI port for the Tech nerds? Maybe, but it would be limited edition.
They have their work cut out for them. When you think search, you think Google. There is even the phrase "Google it" when searching for something, which is so mainstream it might have to bring Google to the dictionary as a verb.
You never knwo though. Never underestimate the budget of Microsoft.
You can say all you want about the Sony online service being free. A rumour once emerged that said it was actually like xbox live, where you can't play online unless you pay. The rumour was dismissed by Sony quickly. Sound familiar? Yeah Sony do that to every rumour that turns out to be true.
The only alternative is leaving it to the developers to host their own free servers. I think all I need to say is "PS2 online service" and you'll see why this is no better.
Some games? Do you own an Xbox 360? Only hardcore MMORPGs have extra charges, because they're hosted on a different server. To my knowledge only two games have ever tried this anyway, and both of them weren't all that successful.
As for updates, like maps and horse armour, none of them are mandatory. You can easily decide you don't want to pay that much for horse armour. And we still get a very high number of updates for free, even though they could charge us whatever they want...
They never actually said an update would not happen. It's still possible. I eman come on, how many people decided to buy a new PC just to stream video to their xbox?
Let's forget your examples for a second. I'll compare from my british point of view and your american point of view.
~I only own a computer monitor to play HD games on. Certainly no 1080p for me, and forget HDMI.
~I just installed a wireless modem. it conveniently sits right next to my xbox so I just plug it in with ethernet.
~I don't care about Next gen disk formats yet.
~I enjoy online gaming. I play online with my 360 regularly. Downloading is also b...
Keep trying fanboys. Considering all the good xbox news I got this week, lossless audio is a pretty weak attempt at making me angry. You'll have to do better than that, stupid s**ts.
