They can compete... if they put their 1st party games on PSNow day and date on launch.
Sure, they MAY lose money initially, especially on bigger budget games like Gears 5 and Halo, but if people are subbing for other games they wouldn't even buy, and continue to sub for that experience AND for the bigger games... it probably pulls them in more money. Maybe not yet due to all the $1 or $2 deals, but that's how they pull in millions of subs and then keep people subbing.
@Zora
I would say that Gears/Halo were played just as much for their SP and Co-op modes as their online MP. Forza Horizon is hardly MP focused, but yeah SoT is definitely a MP game.
Because it means they could get subscription money on games that people wouldn't have bought at full price or even $30.
Bruh...
"Paradox Interactive ex-CEO Fred Wester was rather cooler on the subject than Patti, suggesting subscription service providers need to be more mindful of the kind of game they're licensing when thrashing out terms with developers. He drew a comparison with how Spotify and Netflix remunerate musicians and film-makers. "Spotify, they pay you depending on how many times your song has been played. On Netflix, they pay you a fixed fee depending on what they...
Besides Sea of Thieves, what Xbox game is only MP? Just because there is a MP component doesn't mean its focus is MP.
No, as in GamePass where 1st party games launch day and date on the service.
Sure, I'd definitely sub to it and try out games I normally wouldn't ever buy. Sony would make more money from ME that way. This year I haven't bought a single Sony game, but for $15 I would at least try a handful of them.
@Sam
Gears 5 wont bring in 30million alone, but it will help bring in many new subscribers. There are 64 million active XBL users and with the deal to upgrade your Gold to the GamePass ultimate WITH Gears 5... I can see it pulling in a lot of new subs.
I think the last estimate was that GamePass was around 10 million subs.
What is the 20k based on? Steam sales? Are we suggesting MS is just lying about player numbers?
I can't wait for this game. it looks fantastic.
Can't wait to see what the Gears 5 enhanced scarlet version will look like... more importantly, I can't wait to see what Halo Infinite will look like and I certainly hope they add in some big expansive levels with huge battles again.
From an article I read from a dev is that they treat it like Netflix. Where Netflix pays studios money that they believe your show is worth. So the dev explained that the money they offered was fair, but since they are a game where their users usually play over 1,000 of hours, for THEM specifically it would be more lucrative to have it on a per player percentage then just a lump sum.
I'm in the same boat. I am subscribed to GamePass Ultimate for 3 years and I'm all set for The Outer Worlds, Wasteland 3, Ori 2, and then all the next gen games like Halo Infinite. I also love being able to have the freedom to play on my Xbox and PC when I need to depending on what the family is using with the GamePass Ultimate PC games.
Keep the games coming.
I'm actually very interested in DS, hence me following all stories and reading interviews. Apparently voicing some concerns about a game means I never had interest or will never buy it. More than likely i'll wait for a price drop.
The answer to the realism question is what pushes me away from this title. I know some people like ultra realism, survival aspects... but when you pair that up with the fact that most of the game, as he said, is walking and carrying things... it just sounds, boring.
Or you don't buy any MT's and still have a fantastic game with a shit ton of content...
I doubt all of their games will have MT's. Sea of Thieves just added them after 1.5 years, State of Decay 2 doesn't, forza horizon 4 doesn't, I doubt ori 2 will...
Were people this upset at UC4 having a massive amount of MT's in its online? Gears 5 is going to be supported for a long time and has launched with a ton of content. Let's calm do...
Gotta give those studios time. Not all of them were working on multiple projects. Obsidian and InXile still haven't even launched their recent games so it will be a bit for them.
I don't think they would have to be as cheap. Sony has the high quality games, so even if they priced it at $20 a month bundled with PS+ and had a slew of high quality 3rd and 1st party games as well as VR games... I'm sure people would pay that.
I've only bought 2 VR games this year and no actual PS4 games. But I would have subbed for a couple months at $20 this year to try some of them I was on the fence about and held off.
