Gaming is suppose to be fun!

I'm curious, it's peaked my interest.

The big thing is price for the hardware & backwards compatibility, cost for the cloud. I wasted a lot of money on junk early in this gen (really bad buggy games). I stopped pre-ordering games a few years ago. Will I have to re-buy every all my old games?

The second thing is quality, will we be getting the same quality of games this gen (I'm not speaking about graphics)... will games work day one or will it...

If the PC version is still using that horrid Uplay client then NO!

@ziggurcat
I hear you bro...rumours are just rumours and I totally agree. However, if you read my choice of words, you'd realize that I did mention it being just a rumour. But (and a big but) if those rumours might be true, that it wouldn't be cool on MSFT's part. Remember that rumour was a while ago, way before the PS4 reveal.

So, you're ok with MSFT corp watching you in your home... illegal or not? Uhmmm ok, good luck with that!

Oh BTW, I have several older 360's (I fix them) but have never hooked one up. I have several PS3's & several gaming PC's, so I don't do the piracy thing.

I learned my lesson a long time ago and only purchase games after the price drops and with Steam sales, there's just no need to pirate on PC's... nuff said!

You know what's really scary... is that rumour of the NextBox having always on Internet & having the Kinect always on and MSFT watching their customers for customer reactions & data gathering.

If that rumour is true... MSFT will be watching all their customers at will and if you do something out of line then the cops could be knocking at your door when you least expect it!

We'll have to wait and see, won't we? I'm just going by the Sony/Gaikai situation. Sony mentioned that it would take time for them to roll out the projected cloud features, and that's with an establish technology. MS's technology hasn't been implemented nor proven yet.

Are these the same "ANALysts" that have been helping Wall Street rape the US & the world of all it's wealth? Yeah, like I'm going to listen to these idiots!

They're the same ones that tell you to put your money here and six months later your investment capital has magically vanished, and they have bought a new Ferrari!

@LOGICWINS:
Gabe has been quoted as saying that he will never sell out to a big corp. He would rather have the company fail than to sell out and be let go in 3 years! That's what usually happens when a company is bought out.

Apparently quite a few companies have tried purchasing Valve before.

The biggest problem MS have is that although they have the OnLive ex-employees, OnLive's technology is patent and can't be used without paying licensing fees to the OnLive creators. They will have to create something simular but can't encrouch on OnLive's patent!

MS still have to create their own technology and that will take some time to get right!

Well said... I agree 100%!

If this news is true, the Steam Box or PC will be more enticing. For now, it seems like the PS3 is my last console that I'll own... until this rumour is squashed.

You should also checkout Ground Branch http://www.groundbranch.com... as well, another awesome title for the thinking man's shooter genre!

The thinking man's shooter genre is long overdue! I've been waiting a very long time for this! I can't wait until it's released!!!

Your (& mine) statement is subjective, it depends totally on personal taste.

My favourite genres are action/adventure, open world TP & FPS and personally IMO, I've played far too many bug ridden messes that have pretty graphics. In almost every case, I have regretted those purchases.

Oh I forgot to mention that, ND are also known to stand behind their work & support their titles for quite a long time. They don't ditch them a couple months ...

+1

They are the only reason why I would even consider purchasing a next-gen console at all. I'll probably wait some years before purchasing a PS4... after they make a few games for the system.

They are the one dev this gen that created a game that has high-end graphics with substance (bug free, fluid, challenging gameplay & engaging storylines).

The argument of games being too expensive to develop is a bit misleading... usually about 60% of the cost goes to advertising. I just can't understand that COD keeps costing 100 mil to make when all it is, is a new coat of paint on the old wall. You can't tell me that they paid their devs 50 mil for 2 years of work.

He's some basic math;

Let's say that have 100 devs at say $100,000/yr (give or take some make more, some make less)

LOL! Good one DK... Maybe one day he'll grow up and have a family with responsibilities!

I make 6 figures a year and I still struggle with the cost of gaming purchases, after shelling out money for cost of living, supporting a family's needs, plus paying for one child's in University and another going in 5 years time.

I've seriously cut down on my gaming habit to the point where I seem to only game on PC's using Steam (for the thrifty gam...

I played it on maxed PC... nothing but pretty graphics. I didn't feel immerse in the world at all. And for some reason, I don't like my gun with a scope taking up a third of my screen.
