There's really nothing wrong with taking existing ideas and improving on them, most if not all companies do it.
But as you can see in this specific case, the TV makers have taken the ideas from console and included apps in their smart TVs. So any console makers who's going to rely on apps and thinking that they can charge a premium for it is going to find themselves disappointed with the results.
Another advantage for the TVs is that new Revisions...
Nothing wrong with added value, but to treat that as the main dish seems to be the wrong way to go about it in my opinion.
@Kalowest
So was the PS1, PS2, and the PS3, but Sony never stopped focusing on making games for the core audience even when they had all of those third party games as well.
I think the problem is that so far Mirosoft has shown that they either can't get the balance right, or maybe they just don't care. I'm ...
I think that N4G should have a rule where if you only have one bubble, then you shouldn't be able to get the first comment on an article because historically, what you have to say is usually of little value to the conversation.
I don't think I've ever found it necessary to reply to any of your comments J-Blaze. It seems as though your sole purpose is to annoy people most of time.
This is similar to when Lebron James said that the league would be ...
@ McStorm
I dont' really care about Activision's or Bobby Kotic's disappointments to be honest, I think they're full of it.
But first of all, the PS3 launched at $600.00 (compared to Wii U's $350.00 for the top sku) and didn't launch in Europe until Late March 2007.
But even then it sold 3.6 million between November 2006 to March 2007.

replied to the wrong post. My apologies.
@Cloud495
No Sony doesn't have something similar. Sony doesn't have anything in place that requires a simultaneous release or else delay the game on the other platforms.
If a developer choose to release a game six month later on the PS3 because Microsoft/Nintendo paid them to do, then it only makes sense that game be released with all the DLCs that came out with it during the six months it was out. That's actually looking out for the PS3 gamers w...
"Titles for Xbox 360 must ship at least simultaneously with other video game platform, and must have at least feature and content parity on-disc with the other video game platform versions in all regions where the title is available," it reads.
"If these conditions are not met, Microsoft reserves the right to not allow the content to be released on Xbox 360."
I'm sorry but does anyone else see this as a thing only a little bitch would do? I ...
@Humble Opinion.
It's you who's choosing your math.
The Xbox 360 came out in 2005, so naturally, you would count the number of PS2 Sold since Fiscal Year 2005 and onwards.
So for the PS3, which came out in 2006, one will have to count from Fiscal Year 2006.
And it took 12 Years for the PS2 to sell 153 million units. So why would anyone but an absolute idiot expect the Twice More Expensive PS3 to do the same numbers ...
@HumbleOpinion,
Clearly you missed the point here. How's Microsoft's tablets, and Phone etc part of their gaming division? Sony sell computers and phones, tablets, own movie studios, banks, music labels and recording artists...the point is, we're talking about each company's Gaming Division.
"Moreover, I was pretty surprised that your numbers actually show that even Sony themselves didn't manage to replicate the success of the PS2 w...
"This generation has proven that gamers aren't loyal, and they'll go where they games are"
Wouldn't the above statement means that gamers would be migrating to the PS3, "where the games are"?
On topic: Sony doesn't no longer rely on just one of their consoles to dominate the Way the PS1 or PS2 did back in the days. Until 2-3 months ago, Sony was manufacturing and selling 4 different consoles, the PSP, PS2, PS Vita, and the...
@ Airforcex
Sorry bud, but the Xbox 360 only has a lead in the US Market, it trails the PS3 in both Japan and Europe.
To be honest, this is not too different then the cheat already included in the game such as the "Target Finder" and the "MMS" Scopes which basically finds your targets for you.
The only reason why this is so sad it's because that even with all the easy help the game already provides, someone still finds it necessary to do this.
Isn't that very scenario what truly describe a champion? Someone who can everything you throw at them and still come out on top? lol
Ali vs George Foreman in Africa anyone?
Isn't it funny how you can almost tell who's bitter over this "FACT" that the PS3 passed the 360?
Listen to NeverEnding1989
"At this point it doesn't matter if the PS3 sells 90 million and the Xbox 360 only sells 80 million. The real loser of this gen is the PS3. This is how its always been and as the article states, nothing has changed."

@BanBrother
"From a fanboys perspective, the PS3 won ( it has outsold the 360, apparently). From a business perspective, Sony got pussy-whipped tbh. How could you go from 100m sold vs 25m sold (last gen ps2 vs xbox) and now it is a 70 million split?? "
It's as if you're implying that the PS3 is not going to reach it's 100 million units milestone.
I don't normally like to involve and comment on these types of articles but I'l...
Hi DeadDani
To be clear, my gamer pride wasn't hurt, lol. I just replied with enough evidence contrary to your previous assumptions. I mean, if I'm going to be talking about games, it's important that the audience knows, to some extent, my gaming pedigree so to speak. So I just tried to remove any doubts.
The reason why this article mentions Call of Duty among other shooters is due to their popularity. I believe that there's enough evidence o...

"Cupid_Viper_3, your not a developer. Your just following what fanboys have been saying online, without letting the Wii U get more games. "
I never claimed to be a developer, but that's true for you as well I assume. So the best we can do is make educated guesses based on previous trends, so I don't see your hypothesis negates mine in that respect.
Let's take the Wii for instance. It came out with mo...
Thanks for taking the time to read the article and comment DeafDani.
Just so we're clear about one thing though I'll give you a list of some of the games I have in my library right now.
Killzone 2 and 3, Uncharted 1,2 and 3, God Of war 3, Devil May Cry 4, Grand Theft Auto IV, Metal Gear Solid 4 and the HD Collections for PS3, Dead Space 1 and 2, Street Fighter 4, Mortal Kombat, Red Dead Redemption, Borderlands 1 and 2, Gran Turismo 5 (along with Logit...
Thanks for reading through the article and the feedback. Regarding the 1%, I think all companies will have at least one game that offers something different. I like the idea behind the Wii U, but the second screen on the controller is more a convenience thing as opposed to a different way of playing. But then again, that's not entirely Nintendo's doing, as I believe it has great potential but no dev is really going to take the time and effort to use that potential for anything more th...
