What you're saying would have have made sense if the PS2 sold 150 million units in 6 years, but it didn't. It sold that 150 million in 12-13 years. The PS3 is currently sitting at 77 million in 6-7 years. So the PS3 so far sold half as many consoles as the PS2 in half the time.... while priced higher and getting stiffer competition from both Nintendo and Microsoft.

But that's exactly why I'm rooting for the PS4 with all the social features it has implemented. We, the more informed gamers, will have a stronger voice in the industry and can let our friends know what's going on.

As I stated above, I think the Priority for Sony is releasing 1st, or at the same time as Microsoft, and cost is secondary. The PS3 proved that Sony can sell more even while being the most expensive. Just look at worldwide figures for every year since 2008 until present.
All this focus on "How much it cost Sony" for the PS4 seems a little off base though. As the PS3 have demonstrated that the PlayStation brand can sell a more a expensive console at a faster rate (in less time) than the XBox brand.
So it's not really so much the cost that's a factor for Sony as they'll absord the initial loss, it's more about the "Timing". Meaning that regardless if the next xbox is slightly cheaper than the PS4, releasing a...

I disagree actually. The Touch pad is said to be "clickable" meaning that it gives you a better feedback than a touch screen would.
The modern controller is limited as it's hard to add new buttons to the current setup. And adding a touch screen would most likely require that one takes their eyes of the TV to look down, effectively slowing you down in fast-paced games.
