Can any of you guys confirm with certainty that the trailer is running on PS5 and not on the PS4?

Because from my understanding I don't think any developers (first or 3rd party) are yet allowed to show PS5 footage of their games. I could very well be wrong about that. But that is my understanding of the current situation.

@zeuanimals

I completely agree with your assessment. That's part of the reason why I said: "That's still a POTENTIAL 35 million gamers in the bag".

And your point is further evidenced by the PS4's attach rate of 9.6 games per console. But at the same time, this shows you why I think I was being conservative with my estimate as well. Sony doesn't need 10 million unique customers for each of their blockbuster games, the amount of m...

Both Sony and Microsoft had a target of 4K 60 for their Next-Gen consoles. Until such time that we have PROOF showing otherwise, the assumption is that they have BOTH achieved this goal. Hopefully, everyone understands this.

There are a few things that carry over into a new generation. Gamers tend to remember the games they've played. And On the games' front the PS4 has 5 exclusive games that sold 10 million+ units this gen:
Uncharted 4 = 16 million+

Such an awesome time to be a gamer (even if the world is going through some tougher times at the moment). It seems that regardless of the choice you make this time around, you'll be set for some an awesome combo of amazing hardware combined with the all-important software support.

For those who want a bit more about the possible impact of the CPUs inside the next-gen consoles, NxGamer has an awesome video on it here: 2136d ago 11 agree1 disagreeView comment

I've long-deferred to his "expertise" on the matter, lol. I'm pretty decent nowadays at knowing when I'm dealing with certain types of people.

Another bit from the article:
" Microsoft's new custom SSD storage is CENTRAL to Velocity Architecture on Xbox Series X, adopting an in-house NVMe solution, DELIVERING UNSEEN SPEEDS in past generations. That provides 2.4 GB/s raw I/O throughput — or 4.8 GB/s compressed...

@echo,

This is what you say:
"Yes, it will help improve game design. shorten load times and load assets quicker etc. But it's still just an SSD. We will all enjoy the perks of the SSD. The PS5's SSD, not overall system, will be faster. That's all."

This is what MS themselves say:
"The Xbox Velocity Architecture is about so MUCH MORE THAN fast load times. It's ONE OF THE MOST INNOVATIVE parts of our new co...

@Daz,

"There saying there wont be much difference between xbox and ps5 in real world games ."

See, this is where that argument falls apart for me.

Both Microsoft and Sony are saying that SSD's are going to be the FUNDAMENTAL COMPONENT of next-gen... Microsoft calls it "THE SOUL" of the Series X. "The CPU is the brain of our new console, and the GPU is the heart, but the Xbox Velocity Architecture is the soul...

From the article since some won't bother to read it.

Microsoft frames the Xbox Velocity Architecture as a FUNDAMENTAL COMPONENT of Xbox Series X, comprised of both hardware and software, poised to "unlock new capabilities never-before-seen in console development."

"The Xbox Velocity Architecture is about SO MUCH MORE THAN fast load times. It's one of the most innovative parts of our new console. It's about revolutionizing how g...

HAHAHA, but he still has a point though. It does clearly say that the games will be multi-platform releases.

My expectations are that Sony is aiming to sell the PS5 for $100 less than the Series X. And this is backed up by how they carefully engineered the PS5 to achieve this.

-They went with a smaller chip with only 36 CUs vs the larger one with 52 CUs on the Series X.
-They also went with an 825GB SSD to save some cost there too (although that isn't the main reason)
-They designed the PS5 around a constant temperature model so they can have a fixed and lowe...

You simply can't help yourself, eh?

Let me get this straight. The company that has spent 4 generations (dating back to the PS1) pumping out some of the most highly rated games in the industry, "better deliver on those exclusives and invest in more talent people and acquisition/creation of new studios"? Lol.

"Ryan has a lot to prove and this time competition won´t be easy as it for Sony after Mattrick´s disaster."

Lol, it must REALLY be getting to those guys that even after the Xbox Series X has a bit of an edge, the PS5 is all everyone seems to be more excited for.

Just remember folks, these are the same guys who brought classics like: "If you zoom at 600% you can see that the Xbox version has 3 more blades of grass than the PS3 version."

And same guys who have now had 2 exclusive reveals of MS new consoles, The One X and now the Series X.

Lol, we get it, you're upset. Spent the majority of an entire generation latching onto one failed promise after another because MS decided to offer you a console that has 40% weaker than the competition while simultaneously asking $100 more for it too.

Let's not even get into the whole not being able to share games and always online requirements..

And that a new generation is upon us, you were probably hoping to finally ...

You know what I say? It's one thing to simply get on a forum and spout nonsense. But I'm pretty sure that if your family members were part of that current "supposedly only 1%" number, then your tune would be quite different. It's almost as if we're experts at defying the actual experts, regardless of the subject matter. lol.

I think it has almost always been about the games and price.. I mean, people (not myself) supposedly were willing to put up with RROD and bought multiple XBox 360s because of early games like Gears and Halo, etc.

Pricewise, most people want the best bang for their buck. Not exactly the cheapest/weakest, but the best middle ground. So whoever can strike that perfect balance is going to win the marathon. And that's not just true for consoles, but for most things in genera...

Lol @ 'Microsoft made it abundantly clear that Xbox Series X is their base model for the next generation.'

Actually, the market would decide what the base model is, which 'would' most likely be the cheaper, more affordable, model which would mean more people bought it than the Series X.

@Italiano

I'm sorry, but at the start of a new Generation, BC support is absolutely critical for the masses. People typically have a backlog of games that they don't just want to abandon just like that. So being able to have continuity with the upcoming console is an important factor and helps people adopt the new product much quicker.

That being said, PS3, PS2, and PS1 BC combined are definitely less important than PS4 BC for sure. I have at lea...

I think is gamers are still (justifiably) unable to fully process the magnitude of this.

Put it this way, if some 10 years ago you told people that a stock electric, 4-door sedan, family sized car would easily outperform most supped up cars with a gazillion HP, you'd be laughed at. But nowadays, it's common knowledge that a $35,000 Tesla model 3 is quicker of that line than 95-99% of cars made today. Heck, even the ones built with the sole purpose of speed.
