that some PS3 owners do buy Blu-ray movies. but how many PS3 owners actually do? That's the question. Clearly if all PS3 owners bought BDs like you 2 we wouldn't be seeing such dismal Blu-ray attach rates NOR would we see the sales split, according to Nielsen's, to be only 2:1. It would be MUCH higher. Of all my friends who own a PS3 only 1 of them has bought Blu-ray movies.

I think someone said it best... the AI and physics better be VASTLY improved, otherwise GT5 will be another Pokemon style digital car collectible game like it's predecessors and nothing more. If you want a racing simulator, look towards PCs. GT series does rank up their in my book as the top 3 for consoles but it is not THE racing simulator

As an avid racing fan and car enthusiast I will say that Forza 2 nailed it best in terms of how a car drives for a console racing game. I love the GT series but they have felt arcadey at best, especially the bump n run into 1st place style of racing. If GT5 delivers a new engine that matches Forza 2, the graphics will be worth it. Sadly I have my serious doubts since GT3 for me disappointed followed...
but the only reason why you'll hear about BD as a movie format is because the PS3... well, let's face it.. it isn't really a top notch game console now is it? At least Sony themselves are pushing it as an all-in-one media center Blu-ray player rather than a game console... and since it's stuck in 3rd place in the console 'war' the lil sony fans need to preach about something right?
Because Panisonic pointed out that they sold 10% of all Blu-ray players and didn't include the PS3 in their figures... You know, kind of like how HD DVD's PR group includes and doesn't include the PS3 so long as the story they want to convey what they want to. In this instance, they counted the PS3 but how many PS3s actually are being used for Blu-ray the movie format?
Regardless, I bet you 1 in 20 of the posters on here have yet to buy more than 1 Blu-ray movie with their own ...
SCRAP this stupid concept. You won't make much profit off of it, if any. The PSP already does more than it should. Don't through a massive wrench into it. How's about concentrating on the GAMING side of both your handheld and next gen console market?

Those who want a ONE dual format player NOW will spend the money. Those who don't having more than 1 player will have 2, neither of which would be a PS3. Then again, if that second person is also a gamer, the PS3 would be the obvious choice.

I've modded out the Firebird (sans vette racing motor swap) but haven't driven it much. Tonight it's all about buying the Renault 5 Turbo and tweaking my E30 M3 for a race I have.

Being that you got your PS3 some 6+ months after launch... I highly doubt you even purchased a single Blu-ray movie with your own money. but let's say I'm wrong, which I doubt... how surprising is it that 2.7 million Blu-ray players are in the NA market, 200k of them are stand alones... of those 200k stand alones, 100k are Sony branded leaving the remaining 100k to be split amongst ALL brands and models that support Blu-ray... That lossy compressed track you speak of (1.5m DD+ on Transfomers HD DVD) was given 5/5 and 10/10 audio scores from revieweres.
It also won Best Audio in HDM at the latest HDM conference/awards show.
Note: without going into the whole lossless vs lossy debate; a lossless sh*t track will still sounds like sh*t. It depends on the mix. Most BD supporters who preach lossless don't have the ears, equipment or know how to distinguish between the two.
