exactly HOW is microsoft = HD DVD?
ms wants DLC, not a format media that they can't profit off of
between sony and microsoft
it'll be called the playbox
it'll have 1 SKU, a high capacity disk drive, large HDD as standard, multiple card slots, media center capabilities that stream ALL audi/video formats without conversions, wifi, be region free game and movie playback, 360 style controller w/rumble and a not half assed motion sensing just for the hell of it, and titles will be merged so you'll see a me lee style game where snake will be using master chief's bu...
last i checked the 360 had a DVD9 drive, not an HD DVD drive as it's only an add on. i personally wouldn't get the add on, i'ld cop the HD-A2 HD DVD player from toshiba. it's only $200, doubles as an upconverting DVD player, has better features vs the add on as well (i like my sound as well as my visuals, sry ms add on... that's where you dropped the ball). don't stay biased man you only gonna miss out on the goods from all camps
but think about it... HD DVD players are far significantly cheaper then BR players and based on your comments, if you have a ps3 (this is a gaming site right?) then you'ld be 'neutral' in this format war
here's the thing. toshiba's 2nd gen HD-A2 is only $200, a great HD DVD stand alone and a good DVD upconverter AND u get 5 free movies with it so why not go that route? why stick to BR based solely on brand loyalty and fanboyism?
embrace both formats people. this ...
is more proof on my theory how HD DVD is far from dead and this 'war' is far from over. studios will either go multiformat or switch sides (like you see here with paramount)
be ready to embrace both formats since they are here to stay. the only question i have is how will sony's camp handle the BR side? will they bastardize it like they did with UMD and MiniDisk or allow it to strive as a neutral format in high def viewing?
to below: this is a tad side tracked b...
this just means that HD DVD group knows this war won't have a winner anytime soon if at all and they are more than willing to accept a stalemate and allow both formats to strive. question is how will sony's camp handle the BR corner from here on in
like i've said ladies... this 'war' will not have a winner
STFU!
your comments are worse then DJ, up until we found out he JUST got a ps3 making any and all of his comments null and void but you sir are a tool
reread your posts before you hit the ADD REPLY button and ask yourself... do i look like a prepubecent virgen and am i contributing to the site or am i making yet another fanboy comment as usual? it's people like you that make the internet a sh*tty place
and this ladies and gents is why the high def format is only 5% and growing like molasses. i bet you walmart sells more $5 'give away' dvds then both HD DVD and BR combined. this 'war' is far from over.
if HD DVD were to lose then i would say (like i have in the past) that it's largely because of the ps3. wasn't there a statistic that said of the 1.4 million BR players that 1.3 million were ps3s? numbers might be off but you get my drift
remember this 'war' is sp...
but it's a natural progression of things. the 360 dealt with crappy EA titles up until now... it's only fair for the ps3 to get crappy ports (although better quality and not as crappy as what 360 had to deal with it's first run of EA games)
SERIOUSLY!?!
cuz look at the numbers.
60/40 split in favor of BR out of a TOTAL 5% movie sales
stand alone players are in favor of HD DVD
total HD movie playback are in favor of BR (thanks to ps3)
cost of stand alones are in favor of HD DVD
that means SH!T on seeing who is winning the format. the masses (those who REALLY matter, not HIFI guys or fanboy trolls) haven't even made a decision and most recall being bitten by sony du...
but your almost right on everything
in general when not on sale HD DVD disks aren't $5 cheaper than BR. some are, others are the same, and the ones that are double pressed with DVD on the other side tend to cost a tad more, not significant but a tad. really depends on the movie though cuz it could go either way. also BR does cost more for the studio to press out but it isn't as much as you think, more like 5-10 cents per disk when compared to a double pressed HD DVD / DVD disk....
you couldn't get in the beta since you didn't own a ps3 when the beta was released
:O
and you sony guys have to SERIOUSLY stop tooting your BR horn with childish remarks because if i were a BR fanboy, i wouldn't be talking smack. 60/40 split out of a total 5% market share isn't something to brag about. that's TINY advantage in a TINY market share. to top it off, when you include ps3s as BR players there should be a massive dominance right now and we all know that's not true thanks to the sales figures and the fact stand alones are being sold more on the HD DVD side (maybe BR f...
or how to play it but it looks like it's using a touch sensitive mat which is hilarious since all the anti-wii sony guys were bashing the wii with it's new wiiboard. i mean it is an addon periferal right? so what's the difference?
can someone explain to me exactly what you do in this game?
i'm getting this game for PC. so anyone bashing the crashbox can go troll elsewhere. the demo got me hooked but lack of multiplayer (not all games need MP) and passion for PC FPS titles will fill that void i've been missing for some time. this one won't hit the 360 unfortunately
why? simple... because 4500 lines of dialogue and 1.5 hrs of cut scenes translated into 11 languages is A LOT of audio. that's what a full movie is like nowadays, 1.5-2 hrs with all the remaining disk space to be used up for all the other languages you don't care for. besides i doubt there's any compression techniques
but there's no doubt this game i think is going to be great. a must buy for god of war and ps3 fans
edit: wow there's a lot of fanboy trolling goin...
you lost ALL credibility after defending the ps3 like a rabid fanboy bashing the 360 every opportunity you had only to 'accidentally' reveal that you JUST bought a ps3 some few weeks ago.
to yosking... im pc wii 360 waiting for games I want to play that I am interested in before i get a ps3. see, i'm the type that upgrades pcs for a single game, that picks up a console for 1-2 titles i want, that owns all systems enjoying all the titles so not to miss out on. i don't stick to j...
i don't think this game needs it. as much as i think multiplayer is an almost must in all games nowadays, i feel it should ONLY be implemented in cases where it feels like it needs one. i think darkness comes to mind on how MP should have not been made and more focus on the good single player campaign. assassin's creed will also have no MP
360 had this demo already. it's not a great title like wipeout. more of meh. maybe the whole game has more to it but i found myself turning this off after the 1st lap
sony didn't force cd and dvd technology onto us. they took a stance (with cd) over the main competition who still used cartridge (nintendo) for obvious copy protection. the psx wasn't the only system in development for cd based game consoles as well. the ps2 follows the same suit. i bet you believe the DVD won against the movie competition based solely on ps2 sales huh? sorry buddy... not happening.
i will state though that having BR space is an advantage for making games massi...
