1. if u are format neutral and own NO hd player this is the cheapest means to see the movie in hd
2. it only costs what, $3-4? that's cheaper than what blockbuster charges
3. some people don't need to own movies they've seen at the theater. maybe they just want to watch it once at home
4. if neutral and/or bargain bin shopper like me, you're waiting for a format to be a winner or to pick it up on sale
there is a justified reason behind it if you think about it. you go out and purchase a $600 unit and have a limited amount of games for it. so what do you do? justify your purchase by buying BR movies. another spin can be followed by sales figures. since launch, when ps3 had no games/lack of games BR movie sales had sales peaks and when games were released the figures dropped. another spin can easily be looking at stand along players even if ps3 is the best BR player out there... there is eas...

i dont play it much but it's the greatest fun with friends. pc only has the boys racing gtr2 for time trials (1 at a time). 360 and ps2 has a handful of titles a few will play. wii EVERYONE plays.

but what i REALLY love is how for only 50 pts (yeah yeah microtransactioning at it's finest) i can get pedro lamy's #8 le mans car. i went to le mans and aside from the audi r10s, i wanted the 908 to finish second but ONLY the #8 car. originally i thought the #7 was going to make it in but nope! #8 ftmfw!

if gt5 has the same idiotic AI with unrealistic physics, you can have all the ferraris in the world. i was once the biggest gt fanboy, but pc gaming and forza has shown me the way to bigger and better things. polyphony better man up this time around and do SOMETHING right rather than another dolled up port of an older game
10,000 cars will be a mix of 100s of versions of skylines, supras, rx7s, porsches, hondas, etc etc while throwing in a massive collection of pointless cars that no one cares about like the ford model t or the kia sephia

you know for a realistic type of game, you AREN'T supposed to fight more than one enemy at a time. this isn't the fictitious HS fighting 30 guys at once... those ninja turtle cartoons and power rangers fight scenes you grew up watching don't really happen in real life.
i will be getting this day 1. everything about this game just appeals to me for some reason. i pick up game play quick even if it takes time for me to get used to the controls i think i'll have a blast with it.
THAT is when my 360 won't get as much daily usage and the ps3 wills tart getting some sort of steady daily usage so bring on the games, bring on the 'needed game space'
i'll still be playing forza 2 on 360 which takes up only 1 disk and the fact gt5 won't be out until 2048 ;)

but i can't stand turn based rpg's (or rpg's in general) at all! i could care less if blue dragon had bad ratings but all i've heard from many forums is 'wait until lair comes out', 'lair is going to be the greatness, it'll show you xbots what a real game is like'... and it seems like you'll have to wait until lair 2 to enjoy a dragon based game... i for one never saw anything appealing or fun with this game. all i thought was reptitive button mashing with wii style controls.. sure it may loo...

please shut your fanboyistic mouth... ps2 did not make a massive impact on dvd like you thought it did. it was marginal at best. dvd format was already striving and reason why sony included playback in their systems as another feature. it was an ok to good player.
sony is not the sole reason why dvd took off. if that were true then they would be praised for it, but the truth is they are bashed for every proprietary format that has failed on them. if bluray fails, and i'm not sa...
